Evening. I like this video very much. I noticed the blue bottom inside your white fiberglass tank. Is it there for a reason in the soft tanning process?
Yes , there are 2 reason i used blue bottom for this tanning tanks....1. Main reason to avoid light reflecting to the fish from below (this might irritate the fish because in nature light is mostly from top or side depending on the angle of the sun. 2. Blue/btm btm help with the base color of this particular arowana is the bluebase.

yes, I monitor my temp 24/7, don't allow your temp to reach that high, you can add a ventilation fan to reduce the temperature. 34c for too long can make your fish sick.
water level doesnt effect tanning at all... but there are reason it does: 1. If tanning from side the fish will get full tanning from the light instead swimming below or above the light. 2. To avoid the fish jumping and hurting him self during tanning because it can stress the fish. But make sure you have enough water volume and doesnt effect the parameter when you using low water level on a tank. Yes you can use white background and full water tan from top.

Just bought malaysian gxb bout 7inch.....when is d best time for grooming n tanning? I hv bought led light but i find d fish a but stress when its on...any advise?
7 inch you can start grooming them already. Yeah if it new you need to slowly introduce lighting to them...will take few days to couple of weeks for them to get acclimated. Leave aquarium lights off feww days then slowly starts.
Most malaysian golden arowana base are usually blue and there others such as green and gold but very rare. So I choose blue color mainly just to enhance the base color of the fish and also to reduce light reflection some the btm ( this willll help to reduce stress during tanning process).
Hi bro. good info, but i would like to add that if the fish genetics is good, it will eventually cross even without tanning. For super reds its the same, if the genetics is good, it will become red, only thing is when will the red come out. Just my 2 cents. Cheers
sir, 1. is that a submersible light in the tank? 2. what is it for? 3. during soft tanning, do you turn the submersible on together with the tornado bulb or you turn it on when the tornado bulb is off?
1. - Yes that a submersible hard tanning light 2. I used around 2-4 weeks to hard my gold arowana(but usually golden arowana no need hard tanning) to bring out the base color. 3. During soft tanning i only ran soft tanning light(around 1.5 years till the fish reached 15 inches)...after done with soft tanning i ran around 2-4 weeks hard tanning light.

I suggest for MG start soft tanning first using bright white light (non UV) for few hours and gradually increase the duration. Once it reaches around 10-12 when you are satisfied with the scale shine then you can do hard tanning for enhancing color or the fish.

Do I need to keep WTT and soft tanning till the fish is 15-16" to ensure the 6th level shine stays? Or is it ok to put in a normal aquarium already? I am worried about the 6th level shine disappearing.
Just to be safe I'd say keep the fish in white background and continue normal lighting hours until the fish reaches 15 inches. This is to ensure the top scales not to blacken out once transferred into a darker background.
Oh no.. in that case, i have to invest for a bigger WTT.. bought a normal puaka tong which could have the fish soft to med tan up to 10 or 11".. if 15" is the safest bet, sigh.. not ideal for me since im living in an apartment.. all i have now is to ask for a miracle.. Haha..
@@hafizighazali9360 my mgbb is 12" can i still put it inside tong puaka? My mgbb lvl 5 and six scale is bot shining...and its chu only half of them are shining...
For me, the COLOR/ kelvin of the light doesn't really play a big role but the Spectrum needs to have uva and UVB rays in order to work properly. Choose a light that has those.
Yes early stages use white background. It will help with the scales shine that will later become red but remember all depending on genetics capability of your fish.
Hello. Im about to get mgbb at 8-9inch, there are some gold dust on head and back. Can i do this on 2.5ft tank ? Should i use same light like you use or any other lamp ?
We have recently bought a Super High Back Red Tail Golden Arowana (SHBRTG) at about 11-12 inches. Is tanning required on it or will it just develop its shiny gold scales as it ages? How can I maximize the level of gold it can reach on its scales?
Super hiback red tail wouldnt get full gold scales above level 4-5 and smaller scales what we call chu. So i suggest you just get a nice LED display light and enjoy your fish.
Yes sure.I'll just briefly explain to you even for super red initial soft tanning would be very helpful but once it reaches around 10 to 12 inches you can start hard tanning all the way.
@@TheSimpleAquarist thanks, but what does hard tanning mean? I always hear that phrase but no one explains what it means, what lights will be used for what time duration and period. hi , Ok First you need to place the fish in a white background tank and add few white led lights. In time if your fish is smaller than 12 inches it will get those golden scales back.
@@TheSimpleAquarist send me ur email I’d, I’ll send photos of my set up. So u can suggest me if u have any tips. Thanks
@@MrDerken8 Hi deepan, please refer at about tab on my channel page.
For Super Red Arowana is preferred white tank or black?
For red Arowana white tank tanning if you prefer those metallic-based RED or black tank for the deep base color. Personally, I prefer a white tank.
I brought 24k golden arowana which is around 8 inches. I am feeding pellets now its AR G-2. When to start tanning? And timing ? Can i use tica aro tanning light ?
Hi sir. Good day. Can i put my silver arowana a light like that? How many watts? And what light?
Silver arowan doesnt need to be groom.. Just take care of diet and water change would be fine.
@@TheSimpleAquarist thank you sir. 🙏🏻

Reduce light reflection and bring out base color of fish
Hye there. Quite informative video. Thumbs up for your sir.
If possible can u make another video that explain about arowanas "CHU" and types. I really need information regarding that . Tqsm
Hi Azmi, Yes soon ill be doing video abt that and how to identify highback arowana and others.
Leave aquarium lights off feww days then slowly starts.
is this effective on SRs, if not can you suggest tanning guidelines for SR. thanks
Brother,Is grooming needed for yellow tail arowana
Yellow dont need grooming.
Good day sir.. appreciate your information you given to us. May I ask if green arowana can do the same grooming as you do. Thanks..
Hi Edward, Green arowana do not need tanning. You can just get those LED RGB light and enjoy your fish.
Where u using that light from the beginning?
Yes, those were the light I used throughout the grooming session.
Hi bro. During tanning process for MG arowanas, the base has to be in blue?
Most malaysian golden arowana base are usually blue and there others such as green and gold but very rare. So I choose blue color mainly just to enhance the base color of the fish and also to reduce light reflection some the btm ( this willll help to reduce stress during tanning process).
Nice info. What is the fish current size?
Thanks, the fish is currently around 15 inches...and its ready for my main tank.
Hi bro. good info, but i would like to add that if the fish genetics is good, it will eventually cross even without tanning. For super reds its the same, if the genetics is good, it will become red, only thing is when will the red come out.
Just my 2 cents. Cheers
Very true, why we usually tan is to achieve the full potential in lesser time. I believe grooming is a vital part of every Arowana keeper.
sir,
1. is that a submersible light in the tank?
2. what is it for?
3. during soft tanning, do you turn the submersible on together with the tornado bulb or you turn it on when the tornado bulb is off?
1. - Yes that a submersible hard tanning light
Memang asian golden arowana ekor merah sikit2 and base color biru.

Kalau I nak tgk ikan warna golden tu kena pakai jenis lampu LED mcm mana dan brand apa?sekarang I pakai led warna putih brand TICA .
@@navindranrajendran120 Hi Navin , untuk Malaysian golden arowana you boleh pakai Apa2 led putih atau gold atau RGB smd 5050 macam (brand yg you sebut) pun boleh.
Do i need to soft tanning my (SHBRTG) super high back red tail golden arowana? Because they say that SHBRTG shine level can reach up to 6th level. Thank you
Well, it if surely a SHB - there is no need to soft tan but yes it will help a bit to develop the shine sometimes to level 6.
Hey .. great videos and thumps up for the Channel.. am planning to get a 6" Red Tail Golden highback arowana, does RTG needs tanning ?? And which background will be better to improve the coloration?? Thanks in advance 😊
Hi Vijay, RTG doesnt need tanning. Yes for RTG blackback ground will assist with the coloration.

Just one more doubt, am planning to give hikari arowana sticks as primary diet and rest all as and when required. Can u pls suggest some other methods to improve the color and health in overall for Asian arowana, or maybe you can help us all by making a video 😊

Bro i have brought 7-8" HBG arowana. Can i use led light to groom the fish? If yes, how many watts it should be?
Hiback arowana do not need grooming. Better just put in black tank and bring out the base color.
Your video’s really informative. However I have bought TY and how can I groom it ? Should I put him in the white aquarium with white light to get the shine.Otherwise please advices..

@@TheSimpleAquarist ..Thanks for reply, how long do you recommend me to do the soft tanning and if i ON the light for 24hrs,i believe my water will change to green. How should i avoid this to happened ?
@@tnshowandgaming1603 For the start try few hour and see if the fish is fine then gradually increase if you see the fish is not stressed. For green water you can use UV light to eliminate them but as your filtration matures it will go away on it own later (then you can turn off UV light). Also monitor water parameters if your tank is new.

Hi, just got myself a 5mths old blue base cross back arowana, he is a 6 inches.. Sld i start soft tanning or wait till he is bigger? Don't want to stress him too much.. He also super skittish esp when i remove the tank lid always darting here and there, makes me worry that he will hurt himself.. Is there something i can do to improve on that..? I want him to look beautiful, just only learning abt tanning.. i have only a blue oyama at the back of the tank.. Sld i get more? I housing him in a 422 now, don't hv a spare tank but mgt get if necessary.. Also looking for a tank mate, currently he is all alone.. Hoping u can advise me on all those issues.. What do think abt those UV a/b tanning light tube? Is it necessary to do hard tanning? Heard it stress the fish alot, keep worrying that he wil get sick or injured, for fishes i know its pretty hard to recover from sickness or injury.. Thanks in advance!!
I suggest for MG start soft tanning first using bright white light (non UV) for few hours and gradually increase the duration. Once it reaches around 10-12 when you are satisfied with the scale shine then you can do hard tanning for enhancing color or the fish.
@@TheSimpleAquarist do u mean using high intensity UVa/b tanning light for hard tanning? I see that u also using a submersible tanning light in your white tub, is it necessary? best tank mate is stingray because they wont be invading arowana's swimming space but there are many other btm dwellers you can look into.
hi... thanks for the video, its informative..... i have a question, do we actually use 2700k or 6500k philips tornado?

because this is soft tanning the spectrum don't really matter as long as its bright. Id go with 6500k.

Very informative video, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I am getting a 12" gold xb that is fully crossed from farm, it was kept in WTT and soft tanned.
@@TheSimpleAquarist thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I am going to start prepping my tank tomorrow for WTT and soft tanning.

You mentioned you feel the fish is stressed. How can you tell?
Firstly thank you for watching and common sign is your arowana sits down in a corner not swimming ,another 1 would be jumping.
Have a good day
Do you switch on lamp 24hr ?
Yes 24hr but i gradually increase from 2 hr a day until couple of weeks to make sure the fish get used to it.
Bro I got super red 9 inch.what background u prefer for it?I use yellow tanning light 2700k.any advice?
For me, the COLOR/ kelvin of the light doesn't really play a big role but the Spectrum needs to have uva and UVB rays in order to work properly. Choose a light that has those.
@@TheSimpleAquarist ok..understood..what about background sir?to improve coloration of super red on initial stage..quite confusing,
Yes early stages use white background. It will help with the scales shine that will later become red but remember all depending on genetics capability of your fish.

How many watt bulbs your using?
25watts 3 of them was plenty.

We have recently bought a Super High Back Red Tail Golden Arowana (SHBRTG) at about 11-12 inches. Is tanning required on it or will it just develop its shiny gold scales as it ages? How can I maximize the level of gold it can reach on its scales?
