Join me in Ormond Beach, FL as we leave Tomoka State Park and head to camp at Gamble Rogers on the coast of Flagler Beach, where I scored an awesome ocean front spot...plus a couple pit stops in between.
I'm adjusting nicely to having to scale back my adventures for now as a result of my chronic illness, and having a beautiful setting like this to relax in was the perfect way to start 2024 for me. See you again soon friends!

I really enjoy your videos Heather, congrats on two years of progress! Thanks for sharing even when you don't feel well. It gets better. When I was in my 40's I was in your shoes as far as the auto-immune maze, including inflammation and feeling totally unwell. After many, many incorrect diagnoses (guesses) I realized that I had celiac disease. Today, I am 68, I take no medications and listening to you reminds me how difficult those years were. Be your own best advocate and best of luck this year. Happy 2024 from California! ✌🌴

Happy 2 Year Anniversary!! You are such an inspiration for all of us car/van/suv campers. I'm glad you went for it! I had no clue there were Panthers in FL... Visited Naples around 11-ish years ago and saw one run across the road, I was SHOOK!! lol.
Thank you soooo much! And omg!! I am so not jealous LOL... but for real though, that is so cool that you got to have that experience!! They have the FL panther national wildlife Refuge in Naples! It's on my bucket list next time I'm in that area again (and able to hike hopefully 🤞🤞🤞)

sunrise and sunset are so beautiful, I especially enjoy sunrise. I love that live oak tree, we have some good ones up here. Have you been to the Angel Oak? It's gorgeous! Such a Charming Video. I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Of course, you were 10 minutes from my house, north of Flagler Beach, so that was exceptionally cool. You sure were lucky to get that campsite at Gamble, so sought over!!! I love seeing our pink beaches. Good news: the pier in Flagler Beach is going to be repaired. Its been there like 95 years. There is also a nice boardwalk in Flagler Beach, you might even now be able to do a little bit of that. Its called Betty Steflik Park. I don't find it very birdie, but it is pretty dune/hammock/Intracoastal. Happy New Year and thank you for sharing your anniversary/New Years celebration. Oh BTW, up the AIA at Bings Landing, Palm Coast, is something very special. When that was a plantation, guess who stayed there and did the paintings of the water birds of Florida. Guess? John James Audubon!

I absolutely love that pink sand up there and it feels so different from most of the other beaches in Florida somehow! (Same with Washington Oaks State Park beach!) When I tell you I snagged that spot so fast when it turned green hahaha!!
@@HeathersHikesAndAdVANtures Up the A1A from Washington Oaks (best garden and the OAKS!!) is a top birding location in St. Johns County and Flagler, the Matansas Intet. I bet you have been there, it is spectacular. The parking lot on the west side has a easy access to the mud flats where as the tide goes out you will see dozens of sandpipers, gulls, terns, skimmers etc. The walk from there to where the tide comes in the inlet, may be a bit much right now, but maybe not, since at low tide you can sit and take photos, along the way. It may be something to consider. Plus the free boat across the intracoastal at Fort Matanzas National Monument a mile north. Might be a great episode no walking necessary. When I went the boat captain took us to see the dolphins in the river. Florida is WILD! (we need a t-shirt! lolol)

I just read this on a FB (yuk) page. A good hint. "This trail cam video came from down near Big Cypress Swamps. There is a beautiful scenic park called Fakahatchee. That is where I saw my first Florida Panther coming out of the heavy reeds that lined the scenic drive roadway. I wasn't a mile in, it was around 8am, I was driving my truck when she stepped out to the road."
I know the exact darn spot that is referencing, too, dang it!! I sat for quite a while there last trip just hoping and wishing LOL! I hope have better luck next trip!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

For the more popular sites, I've honestly had the best luck starting to search a few weeks or less in advance, and then I'll just check back every couple of days (sometimes more often depending on the park and my schedule) and a lot of times there will end up being cancelations shortly before. Do you know if there Are any beaches in Florida where u can camp right on the beach?
There are a few places where you can drive onto the beach during the day, but I'm not aware of any here like in TX, where you can sleep overnight. I did get lucky with a waterfront spot in the Keys once, which was pretty amazing!
Your screens don’t look like they cover 100%, do you have mosquito problems ever?😊
Knock on wood, not really! If I'm not gonna be going in and out a bunch, I'll sometimes use magnets to position them a little better on the sides for better coverage, but it still seems to do the trick!
