  • "GEAUX" is an exciting duet written in 2018 featuring snare drum and timpani. Flowing between multiple tempi, time signatures, and soundscapes, this piece navigates the different possibilities of these standard percussion instruments, giving them a unique role in modern percussion literature. Moore composed this piece for a former student, Manuel Treviño, to celebrate his graduation from Louisiana State University.

    "Joe W. Moore III currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music - Percussion at the University of Louisiana Monroe where he oversees all aspects of the percussion studies program. Prior to this he served on music faculties at Benedict College, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the University of Texas at Brownsville. Moore earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Music degree from the University of South Carolina, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a minor in composition from Louisiana State University. His primary percussion teachers include Jeff Moore, Kirk Gay, Scott Herring, Jim Hall, Brett Dietz and Troy Davis. His composition teachers include Jay Batzner, Brett Dietz, and Dinos Constantinides."

    Dante' Thomas is an avid music educator and performer residing in the Winston-Salem area. Recently receiving his masters in music performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Mr. Thomas is highly experienced in multiple genres of percussion including jazz, orchestral, contemporary, and Latin. This recording was part of a collaboration between Mr. Thomas and Mr. Burson that was presented on Mr. Thomas's masters recital in the spring of 2022.
