Islamophobia means a phobia when actually its quite understandable to have a rational fear of islamists...absolutely normal... so the way that word Islamophobia is used is to stop people discussing or criticizing islam.. creepy to say the least..

It's interesting that some words (racist and islamophobic being the two classic examples) have lost much of their meaning through misuse. They are bandied about at any and every opportunity

Set along this the fact that muslims, who are so keen to play the victims, are busy killing christians in many parts of the world (Nigeria, Egypt, Pakistan etc).

If you are in a host country, you should follow the laws, the culture and if you object to their lifestyle etc. you shouldn't be there, no excuses. Most religious people in the UK go to their own place of worship, they never try to enforce their beliefs on others, they have respect for their host country.

As a lifelong agnostic, I have very little time for _any_ organised religion. However, the thing that should be said is that I feel zero threat from any organised religion, bar one. If I were a public figure and publicly castigated Jesus, or Moses, or Krishna, or Buddha, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, it’s very likely nothing would happen to me. If I publicly slagged off Muhammad, it’s quite likely there’d be a backlash and I’d be watching my back for the rest of my life. _That’s_ the difference. Just ask Salman Rushdie or the Batley teacher who, btw, didn’t even _criticise_ Muhammad; he just showed a damn picture! Imagine living in a society where certain people are so offended by a cartoon, they threaten death to the person who showed it! If certain people are so ‘offended’ by a cartoon, then it’s time to question the belief, not the cartoon. It seems Islam is so trigger-sensitive it can’t take honest criticism, when it’s just a bunch of manmade ideas like all the rest. Never let _anyone_ tell you it’s ‘racist’ or a ‘hate-crime’ to criticise Islam. Islam is a belief-system held by people of multifarious races. Islam seems to think it’s entitled to a free pass when it comes to scrutiny. If Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Spaghettiism, etc. are subject to criticism, then Islam is too.

The difference is that Christianity went through a Reformation and there was an Enlightenment so the Christians (Catholic vs Protestants) tend not to kill each other anymore (unless it’s an Old Firm match!). Islam has never had a Reformation or any kind of Enlightenment, so Muslims (even the more moderate ones) still take the Quran quite literally, which for the atheist/agnostics amongst us (and everyone else, actually) is bloody terrifying!

Islam is a system of ideas, some good ones, a lot of mundane ones and some extremely bad and violent ones, supposedly direct from the mouth of Allah. "Islamophobia" is the cry used whenever Islam is criticized, in particular when the bad or violent parts of Islam are criticized . We must always be able to criticize bad ideas, wherever they come from, including religions like Islam.
The late Christopher Hitchens warned us about this many years ago.

I think you need to be educated better on what we say about other religions.
