I have a small issue. Last movie I saw all the way thru was the Titanic.... I slept thru La La Land and was glad I did.. So references to movies don't help here..
I’m a MB and a recent convert from Scotch. Now don’t get me wrong, as soon as it gets cold will be back to my Islay, but it’s already a 100 degrees here in Texas and I need something that goes well with ice. Loving the channel. Thanks. Again with the bananas? best unintentional comment yet Are we in the nest?-step brothers. Claw reference Toy story? Get smart?
Great rye shootout! I’ve only had 1 rye and it’s Michters, it was very good. Bought more ryes haven’t opened. Pikesville, Michters toasted barrel finish and Knob Creek rye, I believe, will be great! 🥃👍
Also, I thought it was the cone of shame. I do not like, the cone of shame. Anyway, things are looking UP. The cone of silence was a tv (not a movie) reference. Hold on, I'll make a call on my shoe and get back to you.😁 Cheers! 🥃
Thank you for doing this wild card! It included some ones that I was very curious about. Also liked the new setup that has you talking about the same drink at the same time. We appreciate that you read and consider what's in the comments. Makes for an overall better experience.
Since you both do the best blind tastings, just wanted to throw this out there...Four Grain flight fight...Hudson, Taylor, Laws, J. Henry, Bluebird, Koval (maybe). I think that might be all of them in existence :) Could be the next big thing. Feel free to make it the 4th of July Four Grain Flight Fight for Freedom. Anyway, still looking forward to the rest of the rye flights! Awesome stuff.
Rye is more interesting than bourbon, and works well in classical whiskey cocktails. Yet seems unpopular in my town ( Colorado Springs, CO), based on the very few ryes on the shelves at stores. I would have to find the largest store in town, and maybe goto multiple stores to find five different brands here I think.
Love the Movie References of your videos... True story, my pilot Wednesday from DFW to ORD was Ted Stryker and he threw out the Macho Grande reference! As for the Ryes, I like the Michter, but the Saz makes a great Manhattan
It's Bourbon Night Can you guys offer any thoughts on why bourbons don't tend to have the year distilled or bottled? Could reviewers like you guys perhaps make a plea for it once in a while? Maybe distilleries would hear you, but not us. :-) And we can hope confident ones would want to stand behind year statements as much as age statements. Evan Williams does with their single barrel. But single barrels by nature are so varying, even in the same year, that years on other types would seem more useful , really.
I don't like Michter's Rye, because it tastes like pickles to me. Now, their Toasted Barrel Rye is my favorite rye. Too bad that one couldn't be in the competition. Maybe one day ;)
Don't let your agreement on the first two spots discourage you from continuing the simultaneous A/A, B/B comparisons. It's good to know there is some agreement on occasion. Don't go after variety for it's own sake. [Just in case you began to think along those lines.]
Idea for your next blind tastings....pick each others 3-5 whiskey's to taste but the person drinking doesn't get any clue about what you picked...not the price, not the proof, not whether there are any Rye's in the mix, etc, etc True Blind Tasting....
By the way, if I remember correctly Woodford Reserve Rye was a top pic for both of you. Will that be one in your final flight and up against other top pics? It is one of my favs.
I like that you're drinking the same whiskey at the same time. It is really easier to keep up with. Now that you've gone that route why not add which whiskey it is in the shot of the glass that announces "Rye A." That way we already know when you start your initial comments, making it easier still to keep up. Keep up the good work. Love the channel.
Movie references aside, going from Britney Spears to The Pointer Sisters to Herman's Hermits shows a musical influence as broad as your Bourbon interests. And am I missing a reference, is the spelling of "forth" in the description intentional or just a typo? The adverb forth means onward in time, place, or order. It appears in the expressions "and so forth" and "back and forth." The adjective fourth refers to the ordinal number between third and fifth. ;-) Great episode as always!
Do you like this? @ 17:27
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. You guys are great!
Cheers!
Thank you! Cheers back at ya!
17:35...priceless

FYI, the CLAW, is originally from the old Get Smart tv series , way back in the 60s...

Claw reference
Toy story?
Get smart?
Love the work y'all are doing.
I'm kicking my ass!!!
I glad I found this channel a couple weeks before you figured out how to randomize the same order. This is now perfect.
Friday Night Fights!!! I love your flight fights.
Tom R Thanks, Tom!
Who is that one guy who leaves a dislike? These two are great.
Sara with the Talladega Nights reference!!! The car ran real good...
Great job... awesome you got some Roaming Man!!!
Great episode you two!! I have passed by that Michter's rye in the store a few times. I'm gonna grab it next time. thanks
Love the Jimmy Fallon SNL "Aaaaand we're baaaaack" reference.

Good comparison. The only two I have had from that flight are Michters and Sazerac. As a scotch drinker, I prefer the Saz, but both are excellent.
Great video guys. I really like the individual run down as a part of the results too. Makes it very easy to see how you both ranked them.
Also, I thought it was the cone of shame. I do not like, the cone of shame. Anyway, things are looking UP. The cone of silence was a tv (not a movie) reference. Hold on, I'll make a call on my shoe and get back to you.😁 Cheers! 🥃
Great video! I really like you two doing the same bourbon order for the tasting because you play off each other's ideas!
I think it's the "tree of trust," and that's from Old School. "Cone of silence" is from Get Smart.
It's getting CRAZY! the Craw? or the Claw?
Joe F The Clawwwww!
ua-cam.com/video/ftgAG3Vnif8/v-deo.html
Too many claws! lol
Joe F hahahahaha nice
I've only tried Michter's out of the five but I really enjoy it. I love these flight fights.
“I don’t know what to do with my hands.” - Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights
Love the Liar Liar ref
Still no old grand dad?
I have only had the top two of the bunch... And yes, they were good!
Great video guys I like the new format. Hopefully y'all do a barrel proof bourbon flight soon
Damn, that is a lot of rye all in all! I've started to appreciate rye more of late, so this will be interesting :)
So many movie references, now I have to go watch Liar Liar again.
‘I object!’
‘Why?’
‘Because it’s devastating to my case!’
Lol love that movie

Arick Bakken You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Rye is the best and you guys too.
Inspector gadget 🤟🏽
Came for new recommendations, stayed for the clutch simpsons reference.
I LOVE Michters juice, yeah Sara! Where do they source from, MGP?

Love Sara's shirt. During the Rye flight. Lol
The claw chooses who will go and who will stay....
What year are all these bottles? It REALLY makes a HUGE difference. The older juice is better!!!!!! :)
Matthew Pillsbury All of these bottles are pretty new. They represent what's out there on the shelves right now.

whats sara's shirt say?
shenlun Her shirt says “You had me at bourbon “
Liar, Liar. That's right, "It was me!!!" 🤣
Is that rotary phone hooked up to anything? Do you take calls from viewers during your videos?
Thomas Gaudreau It is but we only receive calls from the 1950s.
Name that movie quote: "Cone of Trust"
Allllllrighty Then!!!
Bourbon Shenanigans He should say that in every movie, no matter what the genera is.

Random Rob We've bought many a bottle of ER in our time, but we haven't done a video on it yet! Will have to remedy that.

Rye is the perfect compliment to bourbon. Keep up the good work and add rye to the review roster, to spice things up.... lol.
