Can Europe permanently replace cheap Russian gas? Does Europe really want to keep paying more money for US gas, because of the war US caused? I don't know, that sounds really stupid to me. But, if Europe wants Russian gas after the war, then they have to pay the money back. So, Europe is basically borrowing money to give to Ukraine which Europe will be liable for later on. Is Europe broke or something? US is taking Europe for a ride, and I don't know if I should laugh about it or feel sad for them.

No, Europe can't replace cheap Russian gas - not for a short period, and certainly not permanently. Pressurizing the gas is an expensive process, the transport via ships is expensive and with limited capacity, depressurizing it is an expensive process and also leads to extensive losses (up to 20%), building terminals is extremely expensive. Transport over pipes is almost free compared to liquefying it.
What do you mean by "Does Europe really want to keep paying more"? EU regimes don't mind at all, it's not them paying for it. The population? The majority of the population certainly doesn't want to pay more.
The expensive gas leads not only to higher bills, it leads to unemployment - Germany is being de-industrialized now. Many important industries are shutting down their production facilities in Germany (and Europe) and are moving to the USA and China, for example BASF. Already dozens of steel factorieswere closed all across the EU.
I'm not sure how much money the EU is borrowing to Ukraine, most of the money look like donations anyway. That's why the EU is so desperate to steal frozen russian assets - because the EU is indeed going broke. But the EU is still not broke (financially) - stealing some assets, printing limitless money, squeezing their colonies dry, etc. will guarantee the EU's survival for quite a while. Unless the EU continues pushing hard for the green new deal, this will undoubtedly nuke the economies.
Do not feel sad for the EU. It doesn't matter if the majority of people oppose those policies, they are not doing anything about it. And then there are many who actually support those policies, especially the warmongering, and are very, very vocal about it.

But much more likely is that one fine day a change will come to the west, and they will stop supporting Ukraine. That day, the bear will overpower Ukraine. The west won’t care, because it just doesn’t really give a crap about Ukraine, and it doesn’t matter what happens there. But the Ukrainians will suffer. It’s a pretty cynical affair.

@willyoam your friend doesnt study russian tactics. the purpose of lipsi is so russian can shell and destroy all the buildings into central kharkiv. the need to push down so they can hit kharkiv with artillery. the northernmost part has been levelled where they were able to reach.
vovchansk is not to take kharkiv. what you are seeing is the start of russian tactics we have seen all through out the war. they push in on 2 fingers and try to create a salient to force the ukranians out of the pocket rather than have to fight for it.
vovchansk is one finger they are trying to create, and kupyansk is the other finger to try to evelope the area in between without having to fight for it by threatening encirclement.
its pretty obvious what russian tactics involve at this point in the war.

Not really Russian doctrine is more about applying pressure across many fronts and not committing to anything until something somewhere gives out. Its like squeezing an egg in a vice and where ever it cracks first you attack that vector. Its a dynamic doctrine of attrition that leaves options open and puts the ball in the enemies court where whatever decision they make you do the opposite.
The Donetsk front is creeping forward and previous hardpoints are giving out now that Kharkiv front has opened.

I love how every move that Russia makes is met with some level of skepticism or plain disregard for having any chances of success. Then a short time later, the story magically changes and oh look, Russian is capable. Maybe the Russians are doing the thing we don't want to say and that is, strategically winning a war against lesser enemies. Russian has not rushed, intentionally. They haven't taken crazy losses, intentionally, and they are marching across Ukraine, with strategic moves that actually surprise not only the enemy but apparently the world.

Russian objective is to force erratic Zelenskyy (the Economist described Zelenskyy literally screaming at his generals nowadays) to shuffle his remaining reserves (most of them exist only on paper at this point) to try to plug numerous holes. These senseless Zelenskyy actions will only increase the number of holes and precipitate Zelenskyy regime demise.

The rate of Russian advances (not "advancements") has been incredible. Whether you support Ukraine or not, if you are claiming to be an objective observer, you would acknowledge these successes and conduct a favorable deep dive into why and how the Russians were able to achieve success as well as explore why the Ukrainians are faltering. Willy often seems disappointed or discouraged when Russia succeeds

I would hardly call it incredible. This war is into its third year and Russia has taken about 18% of Ukraine. During World War 2 that amount of territory would change hands in a matter of weeks between the Red Army and Wehrmacht.

No one will storm Kharkov, at least until Kupyansk falls. Most likely, it will not be stormed at all, but there will be a blockade. But this is possible only after the fall of Kupyansk. It is impossible to carry out such operations with a cluster of Armed Forces forces nearby. This direction can be considered as an attempt to reach the rear of the Kupyand group, but not as an assault on Kharkov.
Poland will not shoot down missiles over Ukraine, simply for the reason that there is a shortage of air defense now, it is not only Ukraine. Poland will not be sent anti-missiles if it uses the ones it has, shooting down missiles over Ukraine.

What red lines have Russia crossed. I don't remember them setting any. I do remember them saying that if Ukraine did this, then we will do that etc. Countries assets were never stolen during WW2? Even for Germany.
What would you say about reports of 3-4 day Ukrainian conscripts at frontline?
The issue is that those air defense systems are not very good, but are very expensive and Russia can just send drones and rockets to exhaust them as well, plus it can retaliate inside those countries. And what are they going to do then once they do ?
As if they can intercept drones. Drones made from plastic (for cheap grenade drop) to composite (for the kamikaze and high atlitute retcon one), both materials have very low deflection to radar wave. The heat signature also very low due to operate with electric engine rather than combustion. And mostly they flied at low atlitute, which make them invisible with long-range radar. And finally, they are so cheap so that if the radar can pick them up, they can use their sheer number to cover cruise missiles or glided bombs.

@@superspies32 exactly, but Russians send those bigger ones, Geran/Shehid lovingly called Dorito or Lawn Mower, specifically to trigger the air defense also there are air launched rockets similar to American harm. They fly above some area until something shoots it down.

The footage we see is from unconventional attacks such as drone boats. A conventional ballistic missile has no such camera, its not networked.

Agreed. I don't see the difference in whether interceptors are launched from the ground or the air. Either way, that country would be directly intervening and participating in the conflict and becoming a party to it. Then Russia would have the right to respond and eliminate those systems. I also don't think Article 5 would apply, if the NATO member fired first and effectively becomes the agressor. If it's done under NATO auspices, then great, we're at war. NATO forces or nations being on the ground is more of a grey area and Russia can treat them as combatants, and act accordingly.
