Speaking and perfecting the local language at the end of the day is ideal and encourages both the kids to become multi lingual exactly as my young Grand daughter has done here in Australia. She became 100% fluent in both languages well before even attending high school and it will be perfect for her as she spends time travelling and living between both Thailand and Australia in the years to come. Me, well I am useless and still only know words and a few phrases in Thai over 30 years down the track. I guess if I had spent the majority of those years in Thailand and not here in Australia my grasp on Thai would be well and truly in place. More the fool me for being lazy I say. Well done Maayan. No doubt having that skill makes life much easier there on Koh Lanta 🤩
I do agree that it's really really difficult to learn a language like Thai just from being with a Thai person. I think you need to emerse yourself in the country, language and people. Next week I will post a video about how I learned Thai

Hahaha great! We want to do more online cooking but the problem is that the timing was just impossible for us. We were so tired! That's why we haven't done it eversince.... do you want to cook Thai food early morning? Probably not right? That will be our best time haha... when you wake up 😂

I love your spunk and Mons words about liking English better even though it isnt his first or second language because it has many words to describe emotions and feelings really hit home because I remember when I told my ex i was feeling anxious, and he didnt know what that meant because English wasnt his first language. I explained how i felt and his eyes teared up because he had been feeling anxious his entire life, but there had never been a way to describe how he felt in his language. Even to his parents. He felt so seen and understood in that moment.
And when Mon is calling his sister beautiful, and talking about where they came from and where they are now, it makes me think that she used to wear a hijab and never felt like her true self, and now hes seeing his sister live her best life. That must make him feel so proud of both of them and how far theyve come. You too Maayan. I know that now at 30 yrs old, i look back at how far ive come from being homeless at 20 and it makes me proud.

Wow everything you say is truth! I feel like we are connecting so well and would definitely be really good friends if we lived near. Yeah I think that you describe the way Mon feels exactly the way it is. I don't mean the word anxious necessarily but just that feeling that you realize that there are words to describe all those feelings you've been having and it's such a blessing.

I get this question a lot since childhood because of Dutch and Hebrew. But I really think I dream in pictures and not in language. Even when people are talking in the dream, I don't hear them speak a language. It's more that I just know what they said. So weird right?
