I got my copy of Eleanor Forte AI early cuz I pre-ordered her. She's my first Synthesizer V library, and this is my first time using it.
Based on what I heard from her demos, I wanted to write a song that would push her to what I thought might be her limits, namely her higher range, which I feel falls somewhat flat compared to the depth of her lower range, which is really, really, really good. Indeed, I wound up transposing the song down two keys once I got to the chorus, and it benefits from that.
Ultimately, however, I think her voice is just not suited for /really/ strong stuff. Really big potential for pop music and a wide range of softer genres, but I don't think I want to push the boundaries of harder and harsher genres beyond this. At least in her higher range.
But also, to be clear, I've really grown to like how she sounds here; I'm very pleased!
As a side note, PLEASE go listen to this cover of Rainbow Connection though, cuz it really shows off how GORGEOUS the low range is. My god. • [SynthV Cover] Rainbow...

Kind of a surreal experience when you realize the name after "feat." part means not a person, but a voicebank. When vocaloids first appeared, almost nobody took the idea seriously, and yet, look where we are now...
I wonder how long it takes from here to the moment of a fully synthesized voicebanks to start taking over. Voices with no people behind them at all.
There is very, very little chance that will ever happen, because if there's one thing we've learned about technology, it's that it's not very good at making the kinds of decisions humans make when it comes to anything "artsy"- that is, subject to subjective taste.
I put the "feat. Eleanor Forte AI" there really just for search results LOL. It's very common to credit vocal synths, even all the way back in 2007-2008, if you're uploading it to the internet.
If I ever put it on an album, oops, that title will go away.

You did a good job. This is how you work with vocal synthesizers. Work with vocals and apply effects to make it better. Why is it always done with a live voice, but synthesized vocals are often left unprocessed? It's just a waste of potential.

It's very common for those who use vocal synths to carry some sort of nostalgia for earlier works featuring them, which often didn't have such strong mixing and were often much more raw feeling as a result. I personally find it charming, but it depends on the song, too. This song, for example, is very ripe for vocal processing; it's very deeply electronic and the atmosphere is accentuated by those effects! But simpler songs with drier sound, you could definitely take the processes off the table entirely and you'd still have a lovely song, even if it is a little dry. 😀
When I first heard of Eleanor Forte I didn’t know she was a voicebank. I thought she was a real person. I saw her on the soundtrack for a game called “Bad End Theater” and just assumed it was a real person!
(Bad End Theater is a great game btw I recommend)

I wish Yamaha to take steps to make Vocaloid 5 become as good as Synth V. Dont get me wrong I think V5 can be powerful in the hands but Synth V adds just so many intestesing new features.
As far as I can tell, Yamaha's neglect of VOCALOID in general at this point isn't going to change. They treated their third party developers like toys and playthings, threw them away, and the rest that remained jumped ship.
A good user of VOCALOID can make any VOCALOID sound great. But Synth V has workflow improvements, a general quality upgrade, and more under it's belt at this point, and VOCALOID as an engine would need a rewrite to keep up now.

It's like avanna but without the whispers lol Eleonor it's amazing!
Yeah, I thought the same thing! Eleanor has a lot of the qualities Avanna has, but carries a lot of clarity and depth to her timbre that Avanna simply doesn't have- on top of that AI really making Eleanor sound lifelike, even if I didn't mess with the parameters or settings.
Don't get me wrong, I'll always love Avanna- she has a special place in my heart- but Eleanor is effectively an upgrade.

This is so good, never liked vocaloid but this sounds real and I couldn't help but listen to it all day.
Synth V is pretty powerful nowadays! I think it's a lot better than VOCALOID, and it's easier for people less into vocal synths to get into. 😊

@@nostraightanswer thank you! I was one of the lucky ones that just got really bad cold symptoms alongside the taste thing. sadly I have minor asthma so my cough will probs stay for a couple weeks.
The intro was great but adding the deep harms removed the realism from the cover .
I wasn't really even going for "realism" anyway so it's fine!
@@nostraightanswer Sorry, I'm just use to her sounding more human without the harms. So, it just sounded off to me. Maybe Solarias would sound better with your svp tuning . Since, she would sound better with this song than Eleanor .
