One of the concerts I have ever gone to, totally magical. It was wonderful...when the set was finished, it took about 10 seconds for the audience to come back to earth, than there was a 10 minute standing O. Than they came back and did a 20 minute oncore. Beautiful!!!
"White winds" "Behind the gardens" and "Caverna Magica" belong to my vinyl-treasures since i was 13yo. These tunes spread a certain magic and has the power to take ones soul to enchanted worlds, where elves, dragons, wizzards and all this stuff are real.
I first heard Andreas music when I was about 13 years old, back in the 80's at my friend's house, her parents were playing his music, I especially remember this song, moon dance and dancing with the lions. It transport me to my childhood.
Matchless Vollenweider - have never heard the harp showcased so beautifully for our times. How can music sound so beautiful even decades after it was produced. I wish some young harpists would really learn from il maestro Andreas so that this skill will be passed on.
I also grew up with Andreas Vollenweiders music, my mother played nonstop. And every time I play his magical music, it touches my soul deep! I love him!
Even if I can't imagine paying to attend a concert of what essentially is background music, it really is the best of the best background music there is. I have three of this guy's albums, because we need background music in the background of life. This guy Andreas is life's soundtrack. Nobody get offended that I said it was background music...some would use my favorite music in that way. It helps people meditate and feel good, so it rocks.
I heard" Him" in 1983... been looking for Him ever since.. HOpe he comes around the USA One more time... would love to see him in person!! AND Now I can share Him with the world Thanks All to YOutube!!!
I always loved they way that beautiful music performed by a master speaks to something deep in us across man-made international borders, and unites us still after time and chance circumstance divides us by language and customs, in the making of which, by the way, we had no part. Your comments, all of them, give me hope for all of us that we are basically still one no matter where we are.
Thanks for this, White Winds is my all time favourite AV album, first heard it on a reggae bands PA system at a gig it totally blew me away. Also recommend Behind the Garden....a great journey, even had a hardcore Punk Rocker appreciating it heheheheh!!!!
The flutes are magic in this gift from Vollenweider. Most soothing and enchanting melody! Such an unexpected array of instruments each with their own charm
*This is also my favorite Andreas song...the Collaboration of Instruments is amazing...the Rise and Fall of the music sections reminds me of the Rise and Fall of the beautiful Waves of the Ocean...just BREATHTAKING*
This song reminds me of our cabin up north. My family would sit around after dinner and play cards while my mom baked some sort of amazing dessert, and my dad, along with one of my brothers, would be out until 11 fishing on the lake. We had that place for 18 years. Then we had to give it all up, because of my jealous uncle. So many memories attached to this beautiful song.
I believe that this piece has so many pics. in the minds of the people that love it, for me it was a time of friendship,a warm house in cold but beautiful place, a cup of hot tea with a good friend, an enlightening conversation. Andreas Vollenweider is my favorite composer of New Age/World music since I was in my 20's. Glad you like it too.
I remember having Andrew Vollenweider cassette during the 80's. I think Its called " Music of the Andes " during that time CD'S are not released yet. Thank's for the post.
I was taken to his concert during the Montreux Jazz Festival. I did not have a clue of Andreas Vollenweider or his music and I left absolutely floating. I love this entire album and I listen to it when I'm down and it lifts my spirit like magic.
you know, it's rare that you pick out a vinyl because of its cover and it completely blows you away... right when i heard it at home i ran back to the record store and bought whatever other vinyls they had of him. what amazing music.
If I should go to heaven when I die this mans music is what will be pumping out of Gods stereo. To see Andreas live is to wittness a man channeling the divine.
This piece of music was something I would listen to before an exam at university. It calmed me, got rid of my anxieties. The bit that sends me into a tranquil bliss starts around 4:00. TY Andreas!
Drwhofan1971 I am totally surprised Tom. This guy's music is fantastic, haven't listened to this in a long time. Was totally shocked when I was told you had left. Should drop me a line, be great to hear from you.
Think about it.. i was at a PRINCE concert in Oslo.think it was 1989. the "warming up band" was Adreas Vollenweider".. that is how much a big impact this guy have one really known aertists.. This piece of music, reminds me when I was a child and my mother play it from casette. Great music for my soul, pure masterpiece!

Have you heard down to the moon yet?
I first heard Andreas music when I was about 13 years old, back in the 80's at my friend's house, her parents were playing his music, I especially remember this song, moon dance and dancing with the lions. It transport me to my childhood.
Still amazing even after all of these Years.

This man and his music is simply amazing!!!!!!!
This man is great. His music is so soothing. It is like living in a weightless medium and your senses are tuned to the maximum joy.
One of the best songs that i've ever heard by one of the best musician- composers that i've ever heard. Many journeys on the White Winds album.
I grew up on rock , soul , funk but luckily had a good ear for music and have to say this is his best song , powerful , soulful to the ear .
I agree…this is the best of his recordings that I have heard. CBC used it for one of their evening shows back in the 1980’s.
I saw Andreas live in 1996. He was fantastic! Wish he would come to the USA more often :) He is awesome!
OMG. I LOVE THIS SONG. IT IS SO SOOTHING AND HEALING. IT REALLY HELPS TO SOOTHE THE NERVES.
Even if I can't imagine paying to attend a concert of what essentially is background music, it really is the best of the best background music there is. Have heard this on-and-off since its release in '84. It's a stunning masterpiece of melancholy....
marvelous.... that sensitivity of choosing the right sound to express the feeling at moment to watching the scenario around you.
so relaxing, and yet far from being elevator music. Just great sounds that transports you to another musical plateau.
fantasticno, go obozavam andreas, ova bese prva pesna sto sum ja slusnal od nego (pred 20-tina godini)

Yes Sunday evening so and the esoteric envelope with Chris prior. Those were the days
The 1st song ever played on the wave was Andreas.
Dedicated to my friend Dennis B. Nowak
of Penna. who turned me on to this music
in 1986. Dennis, wherever you are,
Thank You.
