[G] It was September 1938 when Lau Yuet Seen received word from her husband to leave Fah Dei for Hong Kong as soon as possible. The Japanese troops were close to landing north of Hong Kong.

What a fantastic series to accompany the book. 0:53 I wonder if Lau Yuet Seen actually spoke with this predominantly Guangzhou accent, or if there was a distinct Woo Bui dialect. 2:29 For clarity, "por por" means maternal grandmother, and "gong gong" maternal grandfather. Cantonese has different words for paternal grandparents.

Depends on which Cantonese dialect or village. For clarity "por por" means paternal grandmother & "gong gong" paternal grandfather in Xinhui Seeyip Cantonese...
