I live in western germany and we had 2 days of snow here in 2023.
I still remember, when we basically had a month. I once had to walk over a kilometer through knee deep snow, to get back home from school, because the busses couldn't handle it.
I don't see that happening ever again.

There's a guy on Quora insisting that ice melting off Greenland won't raise sea levels because Greenland will just bob back up, drawing sima in from under the oceans as the water runs off. I've asked him for his calculations a few times but he's not into sharing actual numbers. If he's right, the earthquakes are going to be pretty spectacular. So far, he seems impervious to the fact that the US coast along the Gulf of Mexico is sinking and sea level has been measured rising.

    • @wmdopple
      @wmdopple 6 місяців тому +14

Not sure how that's supposed to make things better.. raising that land (and the connected underwater land mass) would displace more water on top of the water being added by ice melt. It's not like Greenland is floating on top of the ocean.

When I was a kid cold months started in September and ended in May. We get 30° summer days and -45°(way colder with the windchill factored in) winter days.
Four decades later the cold months start in September and end in May. Summers hit 30° and winters go below -45°. Now sign of climate change or global warming here. Snow storm here today in ND and 28°. It's almost May. Even if we are influencing the temp of the world, its self regulating. Been working for billions of years i doubt we're having the influence we think we are. As it warms we'll get more cloud cover and then it can go down, not to mention, a major change in ocean currents could send us one way or the other faster than we ever will. The hole in the ozone went away and the extra carbon in the atmosphere help plants grow. Where does a plant get its mass from? I think people generally think its pulled from the earth but its carbon from the air. More carbon and more warmth means plants generally do better, is that not good for the planet? So i just dont think it's as cut and dry as people think it is. In the 70's there was propaganda pining over how cold its was getting and that we were heading towards an ice age. Went from ice age to global warming to climate change, which is vague enough to fit any situation. It's all speculation and no one really knows how it will play out. We worried that horse poop was going to bury New York City and was an impending disaster of which there was no escape...and then the car was invented. Predictions don't take into account innovations or watershed moments. Not to mention I think Musk is right about population collapse, many countries are not even at replacement rate and that shoe is going to drop in the coming decades. Time and time again settled science is upended fantastically, so I'll be cheering that on every time and keep my skepticism.

Why don’t we force china and India to start caring about the environment since most of the emissions come from their countries

Ah, go over the hill yourself but stop others from doing the same. Hmmm...
And its all easy to say that we need to "stop" them, have you even seen if they have put any effort into doing less proportional damage than the developed nations?
Well China is infamous, but have you even thought about checking if India atleast has taken some steps to not repeat the same mistakes?

To rainsong: Why don't we force overpopulators/breeders and republicunts and SUV buyers and drivers and oversized pickup truck drivers to give up their unnecessarily oversized vehicles and take public transportation instead?
Why don't we force THEM to build that public transportation?
Don't go forcing those who WORK THE HARDEST, i.e. Communists, making all the products YOU enjoy, to make any further sacrifices. Force those who make the LEAST sacrifices to sacrifice MORE!
If this would upset you because it goes against the status quo, TOUGH SHIT! NOBODY is entitled to the status quo.
EVERYBODY was FORCED into the world without their consent.

PROVE it. Show massive numbers of reports from INDEPENDENT WITNESSES PHYSICALLY SEEING and HEARING these gods. Show thousands of videos and photographs of these gods.
Unless you mean Math is God, then, yes. Math is god and is real.

@@theultimatereductionist7592 proving that god exists to someone intoxicated with their own intelligence is like proving a virus exists to a rabid raccoon. They have evidence of it within themselves and you know it, but its a complete waste of time to attempt to explain it. They're too busy trying to chew your head off.
