Great to see you doing interesting strategy instead of the same ol, looking forward to seeing more use of unique units and fun strats like in this video! Not doing the same ol' boring 'meta' isn't trolling man, its fun to watch! And I learned a lot, I have tried the same strat with teutons many times.
These horses are so fast, all I can think of when I see them zip around is that they just snorted a big fat line of cocaine. That aside, the mangonel shots were amazing! Hera sniper with mangonels!
Are Teutonic Knights necessary? I think Halberders do a better job at killing cavalries and are cheaper than Teutonic Knights. The spare gold can be used on Gunpowders.
If you have multiple villagers selected and you shift+click to build multiple farms all the villagers will build, but one will stop building to tend each farm as they are built until all of the villagers have one farm each - hope that makes sense.
Teutonic Knights are essentially useless now given that Teuton Champions have extra melee armor now. Champion + Siege Onager is cheaper, more mobile, and more convenient in general than ETK + Siege Onager. Except in maps focused around chokepoints.
Hera- I’m a noob, I actually haven’t played AoE since, shit, prolly 2009/2010. But I recently started watching the pros and I’m gonna get back into playing soon...that being said, is there a reason around 1hr of game time when your stone and gold was all mined, that you didn’t send all those villages to wood to bank up as much as possible to keep farms running and produce trash units? And if you had an extra 1-2k wood in the bank now at 1:14:00 game time, that you didn’t sell off that extra 1-2k wood? I know it wouldn’t have gotten you a ton of gold, maybe 200-250, but that woulda been enough gold for you to make a few more trebs/so/TKs. And you still would have had 2k wood left for farms and trash, and had the food for scouts. I know the mass villager suicide is inevitable, but why not use them for 5-10 mins more and bank up anything you can to then strictly sell? Shit, even using the gold from selling to create 2-3 monks I feel woulda helped a lot, as healing units with them is cheaper than making all new ones- and 3 priests would be enough to have a positive effect on your units. Idk why pros never send a couple of monks plus a vill or two at the back of their main army for healing/repairs.
I remember this one game vs Magyars as Teutons I did and he kept spamming kts and huszars against my siege push but teutonic knight + monks on that shit makes it unstoppable I had a game vs japanese where my castle age teutonic knights were beating samurai and razing tcs Teutonic knights are definitely an underrated unit. Make their siege push un-counterable in melee
Mr. Hera what is your thoughts on putting out rams into the mix of army against bact when he was on the backfoot ~32 M in? If not what about adding on a trash unit, like halbs to nullify his cav raids (which you defended far better than i think i ever could with teutonic knights) or skirmishers to force him into more cavalry & reduce the suicide attempts at your siege?
Teutons are and have always been my favorite race. Paladins and TKs are the coolest units in the game, and they get both. Not to mention, SOs on black forest is trolly AF sometimes. Edit: Slow and Heavy has actually always been my preferred style. Rockets in Battlefront 2, Rena's giant cleaver in Higurashi Daybreak, Black Knight GS in Dark Souls, Teuts in AOE, etc.
Hera, why do you think this strat is not used more often among pros? Honestly SO + ETK looks like an extremely powerful late game army composition. I get that the main disadvantage is the terrible mobility of your army, but if you do a good job at negating raids (like you did) by walling off your economy, he can't use mobility to his advantage, thus allowing you to force direct fights in which you have a huge advantage, his intensive arbalest micro can only do so much against 3-4 siege onagers. Suddenly this starts looking like an alright strategy. Proof of it is the way you completely dominated every imperial age skirmish, pusing him back to his base quite a lot. If you hadnt run out of gold you would've smashed him way sooner with that army composition imo. Also iron clad clearly proved its worth a lot lol. Really wp by you tho, awesome game
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Ya that makes sense, however you proved that it can still be viable and you played a hell of a good game, props to you :) more vids like this pls!
Halbs are a way better choice for guarding SO, as has been said here. ETK's would be better paired with siege rams. (The Teutonic Knights actually move faster when 6 are garrisoned in a siege ram.) The rams protect them from archers & the ETK's can ungarrison to protect against anything mele. Makes quick work of a town. However, champions could do the same thing for cheaper cost + they have a bonus against buildings. ETK's are probably best in front of scorpions in a choke point. Of course, who in their right mind would charge into that death trap? Siege Onagers, bombard cannons, archers, and hand cannons would be the preferred counter.
@Hera Halbs deny only cavalry. Champions on spread formation will wreck your halbs along with your siege. And with fast moving infantry like Berserkers or Woad riders the results will be even more horrific. Teutonic Knights deny any close range fighting, while siege takes care of the rest, thats the idea. However TKs need more speed to be usable.
But WHYYYYY wouldn't you re-wall the right side of your base?? How many times does he have to send in waves of cavalry or archers and wipe out swaths of farmers before it might make sense to patch that side up?? Just a couple layers of palisades would give your army time to respond. Also, how many trebs and SO have to die before leaving a few TK's around them?? I know this is a meme strategy, but it's also cringey to watch >.
Depends on playstyle, strategy and civ. Some are designed to hold and win those fights like malay. You also always go messy all in and make games quicker
I dunno if that's fair. They pair very well with scorps. And they absolutely shut down whatever they're standing on versus melee comps. Albeit, in 1v1 there are much better Civs. But in TGs, a well built TK comp is no joke. What bothers me most about Teuts tbh is their lack of Siege Ram. It'd be like taking SO away from Ethiopians.
I hate this. You played so well and this guy just turns it into a trash game. I'm not a good player, but it's so annoying when they want to just keep carrying on with trash.
Just look at facts. What are they ? Teutonic knights are slow. Teutonic knights are very powerful. So you can't say that it's the best unit of the game because of their speed neither you can say that they are worthless. An huskarl moves quickly but he will just die faster against TK or paladins due to his speed. Units have strength and weakness, no one is perfect. TK have so great potentiel, but it must be used wisely.
a unit having strenghts doesn't mean it still can't be underpowered and end up as a non-viable option. TKs are underpowered, they are never a good money investment, there are always better options you can spend your money on. The devs should buff them, either make them cheaper or give them higher pierce armor to not die as easily to archer fire.
@@perretlaurent6665 Arbs can be easily defended with some cheap spearman against palas, and with some micro they are also decent at kiting and taking down palas. Sick game. wp
It felt like bact should have resigned much earlier, especially from the 5k score lead at some points.. Idk tho
Yeah agreed, but he had soem chances to pull it back
When your opponent hires teutonic knights it's not easy to resign.
Teutonic Knights are a rediculous unit. Their stats are insane, but their terrible maneuverability make them near impossible to use well
But let's be real, there isn't anything scarier than seeing a formation of TK's marching at you, very slowly...
Crenelation make tower and castle has extra arrow while infantry in them. Can you try it TK + towers amd castles? 😁

Juiciest shot ever has already been made. Was by MBL vs Viper 50 Elite bowman flattened by couple of celt SO's
Nope. That medal goes to Viper vs. our boy Hera. Viper smacked down a couple stacks of Eagles etc. with Torsion Ethiopian siege.
