Bad Chad and Nathan got creative with some spray bombs and tried to duplicate the patina look... if we don't like it, we can always sand it off #badchad #patina
Spray a solution of 2 cups (470 mL) hydrogen peroxide, 4 US tbsp (59 mL) white vinegar, and 1.5 tsp (8.5 g) of table salt on a clean piece of metal to rust it.
Your right hydrogen peroxide and salt will make it rusty like the rest of the car then you have to rinse it off with water to neutralize the peroxide an salt to stop the rusting. And moist of the time your right they don't look at the good helpful comments. I can tell you that trying to use paint to make it look like rusted metal doesn't work and it doesn't look good
Dissolve steelwool with vinegar over night then paint the bare metal it will give you the patina you require you may need two coats depending on how much patina you want
Why do you paint the new metal, it looks like S@=^ everyone told you to just make a mixture of vinegar and metal filings painted on the metal and less than 24 hours it will look like the rest of the car , you can even use it to blend in old panels so they look the same !!!😊

Sweet Jolene BadChad I,Ve got to say a NO to the red oxide primer vinegar and peroxide is the best solution for patina on new welds or metal sorry no disrespect but my opinion which don,t matter to you all ANY 29 TO 36 coupe of any kind that is built to a early 60s up hotrod should have some kind of paint on it this is a HOLY GRAIL of Hot Rod years all that's been done which is a ton of work you all have did well a couple more weeks for a color put on this car it needs to be a statement HOT ROD BAD CHAD SWEET JOLENE patina looks great on some but not a mid 30s COUPEyou all have a super sweet hot rod

Well you should still paint it like the California kid and plate the inside even the head liner in plate or you could do your patina thing and call it the Canadian kid that way it will match all you Canadians up that are to lazy to paint there cars even when they have the money haha and all the parts to make it look really good to many dully do rights up there use to sit over under the bridge to Canada over in Detroit were I delivered to and listen to you guys wine about going threw the border back in the 90s and just to prove my point look how long dug drove around his car with all the patina on it just proves my point hahahehe

If you would have used hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar then it would have rusted naturally instead of cheap A$$ spray paint
Use flat black and red oxide primer - scuff off - repeat - until it looks “right”. Flat looks better than gloss - in this application.

Scuff with a scratch pad a little and add some rust paste and will blend right in
Spray some vinegar on the bare metal and it will rust overnight
Couple small dents will help as well.
