I named my cat after Fang, I got him as a 7 week old kitten. He had golden eyes and was a black and white cat with the black dipping down on his right eye, he died on February 14th 2024. Rest in peace Fang.

This is correct. Both dead cities with a long highway entrance and the theme plays during battles.

@@Othillde all falcie(that brand lcie) are programmed by Pulse and Lindzei to accomplish the same goal: make ragnarok. all focus' converge to that end. Etro also talks to the party through the ost to combat that end. :)

I feel like the lyrics just detract from the melodies. Especially with the descent into Engrish pronunciation on "awaits" to force it to rhyme with "light".

After all these years... This soundtrack hits different. Many of us feel nostalgic because life was just so different 10 years ago
So painfully true. 13 wasn't my favorite of the series but it definitely created memories for me and this soundtrack was one of the reasons. So many songs remind me of life almost 14 years ago. Family members have since passed and things aren't nearly as hopeful as they were back then. Video game music is definitely an escape for me, decades worth of songs that take me back to better times.
I just started playing this game again for the first time in about 9 years. I'm back on chapter 6 but Oerba village suddenly clicked in my memory because I listened to this tune over and over years ago. I had to look it up because the music in this game is just so beautiful.
I literally stopped in my tracks the first time I played this(when it was released) I should play again.this track really touched me

I haven't played this game since it was released in 2010, but I came here to find this track.
I remember going to sleep one night letting this play at a low volume with a beautiful scene on my tv. 👍

Such great ambience, 13 does NOT get nearly enough credit for its OST.
Also love that the theme persists through combat in this area (I have the platinum for all 3 games FYI)

I honestly believe that the ff13 trilogy has one of the best ost in the franchise
There’s a little flurry within a lot if the songs that persists throughout the game and really helps hammer home the themes
It’s that little background bit at 2:15 and a couple other times in the track.
I own the soundtracks for all 3 and i agree, the music composition is heavenly.
First time you hear this in the game will be the most memorable moment of it
Really happy people are revisiting this. Super influential on my musical tastes.

Vanille always made the impression of a Beast-Tamer to me and Fang a fearless Battle-Maid that protects her people with her own life,
Similar to Cocoon, i imagined the People being guided by Fal'cie-Priests of Grand Pulse that preached about the Demons that are residing in their Nest Cocoon, the harsh opposite picture of what the Priests of the Fal'cie of Cocoon are preaching about the Hell of Pulse,
in the End they left their family and friends, cherished as Heroes, chosen by the Gods to lead the attack against their enemies...
fullfilling their duty...resting in eternal crystal...

13's story wasn't the greatest thing ever but the story and music of Oerba never fails to make me the big sad.
atleast it's far more better than the one of the 15th.
also the work of on the mabient of each zone is really good.
Yeah I was struck by how the music and art design really create this haunting, sombre atmosphere that is simply beautiful........
Then I was immediately reminded how badly written this game's story is, when the most reaction we get from Fang and Vanille to their home being an abandoned ruin populated by monsters that were presumably once people they knew is "All these houses are ours lol", and then it is just another zone you run through to get to a boss fight.
Seeing Cocoon from the sky in Pulse really catapulted my imagination. I found that to be so beautiful, sublime to look at this universe.
not often that i form an emotional connection with a game but this game is one of them, truly a masterpiece
One of the best FF ganes hands down, the characters the music the story, no one will tell me this isn't a masterpiece
agreed, and the combat is damn near perfect imo when it clicks

After finally chewing through XIV. I have to say I really think they should have used this track in the dungeon "The Burn". It's current track is ok but this just really seems like it fits way more.
Lol when I first got to The Burn it immediately made me think of Oerba, but also Noel's future

Lightning, Fang, and Sazh was my team. Sazh was only there for Haste lol

@Tom Scheuer sazh is good untill Chapter 12 when hope gets Haste. Mediocre stats(without ultimate weapon), but he is a beast in the Cactuar cie’th stone mission cause he can get out of range tho. He does have a decent HP pool, but that’s about it. He suffers the same fate as hope unfortunately, not having -ga buffs as synergist really makes him fall off in the endgame
Me too!! Sometimes I switch Hope to Sazh or Fang to Sazh cuz he's my top Enhancer. But I manly like to use this team or at least try to always carry Hope with me cuz he's my best Medic.
I had to grind my ass off in pulse and the tower to get that far.
There’s always one song atleast in every final fantasy game where you stand around and listen. Notable mentions FF7 all of them. FF8 time compression. FF9 terra or pandamonium. FF10 is my fave so I love it all. FF12 land of the garif or eruyt village. FF13 sunleth, oerba, achlyte steppe.

One of the best songs in the game
This game's soundtrack is mildly underapprectiated. 13 was one of the few FF games I completed from start to finished (along with 10) and it wound up one of my favorites.
I would fight everything here just to listen to the music... lol even tho there were better spots to grind.
