Many people mistake this to be composed by Masashi Hamauzu (composer of FF13) but it is in fact composed by Mitsuto Suzuki (Final Fantasy Mobius and Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday) instead.
Chap 9, Collapsed Expressway Song, Cloud and Aerith has been like burned into my mind for eternity. It was one of the MOST relaxing chapters when I played FF7: Remake. It was a long day at work, finally finished at fucking 10:30pm. Hopped on played this Chapter and I felt so relax and happy after. I think for me, Chap 9 is my most memorable.
Bruh, same. I’m almost done with TLOU2, and I intended to either get back to Death Stranding or start Doom Eternal, but I think I may start my Hard mode playthrough sooner than anticipated. The music alone is damn good.
Midnight Rendezvous and the new Wall Market theme are the other ones composed by Suzuki in this part of the game. High Five and Due Recompense (old Wall Market theme) are Uematsu's.
@Daitana Uoswiir "High Five" was actually misdirected, Nobuo Uematsu didn't compose any music except Hollow and so the real composer is actually Mitsuto Suzuki. I think Uematsu only got credited because of the small reference to "Let the Battles Begin" at the end of the track... which is really silly... So even though Uematsu is credited in a lot of tracks, he's only done the original compositions (as in the PS1 ones) and not done any arranging.
@@bupbup7659 Oh wow, interesting. Yeah, many of them sound nothing like his older works so I was kinda surprised. But I could at least have seen Uematsu re-arranging and updating them. They're great tracks, either way.
This whole soundtrack man.... you can definitely tell when Suzuki’s the main composer and when Uematsu’s the main composer, and they do it effortlessly together. They revived this soundtrack and it sounds amazing. Every single song, but this track happens to be one of my faves. Gives me goosebumps
Like many of you guys, I played this game during the lock down following the COVID-19, there was a strange atmosphere about the world we were living in at that very moment. That feel was very uncommon, nothing like had ever happened in the past. I associate this ost with it, this song more specifically. It's engraved forever as the game that took me into a fantasy world while anxiety was everywhere around us. Truly unique feels to it.
Anxiety was one of the common themes and even a track name in the OG FF7 OST so it's fitting. Everybody is on edge and being crushed by the weight of the oppression of the city they live in.
This comes back in rebirth. So far it played on a side mission with aerith and cloud on the beach (avoiding spoilers). I’m so glad they brought back most of my favorite tracks from remake.
They did that with XIII trilogy too, so expect reappearances in 3rd part too. Part tracks always work great as filler music where they run out of budget for new songs
The Collapsed Expressway theme is so fitting for the budding relationship between Aerith and Cloud when they explore the area for the first time, to me it evokes the sense of wonder and discovery of a new love. My chest tightens a little when I go there without her in the party.
Collapsed Expressway is a great track, but when I first heard High Five, I was blown away. That track is a true banger. Then after thinking about the story and knowing how things will end up between Cloud-Aerith, I was like damn this track and visuals hits right in the feels.
My first reaction to High Five was HOLY SHIT!! HOW?!? OMG!! THIS IS EPIC!! I ran back and forth at least 5 times through the area BEGGING for a fight! It's just too good! What a time to be alive!
You can tell that these tracks were unused FF 13-2 tracks. A walking synth-y theme, that's accompanied with an aggression version of it for battle. Gotta love it
