  • The BYU Cougars are well aware of what the outside perception of Kalani Sitake and his BYU football program is and they are embracing the underdog role as they prepare to enter their second season as members of the Big 12 Conference and Jake Hatch says the feeling around the players and coaches is one of optimism and motivation to prove their doubters wrong.
Jake then talked about the addition of Cole Cogshell to the 2025 recruiting class as he figures to add to a burgeoning group of BYU defensive linemen under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Jay Hill and Cogshell's upside shows he could be a solid contributor whether he's working with Kelly Poppinga or Sione Po'uha on the BYU defensive line.
Finally, the show wrapped up with some notes on the Doman family legacy carrying on at Brigham Young University (BYU) with Jackson Doman announcing he will become a BYU Cougar and mark the 23rd member of the extended Doman family to suit up in Provo and LaVell Edwards Stadium once he returns from his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

BYU needs to earn the respect. It doesn't just happen...

Agreed, but I for one am curious why Baylor is getting the benefit of the doubt going into 2024 while BYU is getting disregarded. Like why?

I think byu is gonna prove a lot of people wrong. Otherwise if you can’t win some of those crucial home games and go 5-7 …. YIKES 👀

Hey Jake, do you think the reason that we haven't been able to get to the QB is because we haven't been teaching them advanced pass rushing moves? I don't think I've ever seen any of our DL successfully bull rush, spin, swim, or anything really. It's like they're being taught to fill gaps and then just try and push their way through without any real technique.

Getting it right, essentially boils down to wins and losses, period!

I have noticed that sports reporters, pollsters, and football podcasters seemed to be one year behind, missing projecting both good years and bad years, handicapped by referring to the previous years results. Will this be a good year, we shall see.

Don't confuse motivation with ability. BYU has essentially the same offense as last year.

The o-line drastically underperformed last year (hence lack of run game). Players have outright said that the new o-line coach is what they need and they should be far better as a result of it.

Alright… let’s not over react about a single 4 ⭐️WR and a 3 ⭐️ TE.. gonna need a lot more than that to compete at a high level

BYU is shit. I'm a fan of them but c'mon they're not good plain and simple. I've had my hopes up for the last two seasons and been let down both seasons.

Sitake's in over his head. Hans Olsen doesn't even believe BYU will be any good this year. It may be time to move on
