Thank You So Very Much! You are a genius! You are amazing! I am grateful for your knowledge! I just bought a new set of cartridges and the yellow cartridge did not register after I installed all of them. Lessons learned: After I bridged the circuits and replaced the circuit board, I made the mistake of cleaning the printhead assembly with denatured alcohol which washed the adhesive off of the tape. It still worked. The next time I disassemble the printer, I will bridge the circuits with solder and then cover them with tape to isolate them from those springs which I assume are conductive. Again, Thank You! I was depressed and was planning on throwing the printer in the garbage. Thanks to you! It works!
I did this a months ago and it really works. You have to make sure the piece of wire is making good contact with both the upper and lower contacts points on each color. Press the tape down really good before putting all the screws back in. But it has worked for me for over one year.
felipecanutomiranda VERY BAD solution using refillable cartridges. This deactivates pressure sensor. If you are using refillables and you get this error - this means your refillables airbag does not work correctly = printhead cant clean correctly = clogging. Get refillables with airbag function, or CISS with airbag function. This sensor only activates if internal airbag is full (out of ink on original cartidges), or absent. 86xx do NOT have any ink pump, they use air compressor to blow air inside airbags of cartidges.
Hello, would this technique allow me to use up my setup cartridges too? Right now, the printer doesn't want to accept my setup cartridges. They are full. The printer is working otherwise. But I hate to waste the ink. Thank you.
The HP ink cartridge is new. The ink level appears to show "full" but the cartridge icon light blinks and prohibits any printing (even test page). Many suggested "fixes" have been tried without success. Will the "shorting" shown in video correct blinking cartridge icon light ?
Some english explaination: What this gentlemen does - is to refill original cartidges with some ink. Original cartridges have air bag inside, which plays special role in printhead cleaning from level 2. System blows air there. However if airbag is too big, it detects that and blocks printing with message "error in printer or ink system". Which in turn happens either with original catridge out of ink, or with old CISS catridge without airbag support. If there is no airbag - system cant clean printhead proprerly. If you print with ORIGINAL cartridge and recieve this error - this means your cartidge is either EMPTY PHYSICALLY, or DAMAGED/UNSEALED. Replace the cartidge with LOWEST ink indicated - remove one of them to see that menu - and it will work again. DO NOT short cut printhead as in Part 2 if you use original cartridge!! This will deactivate physical sensor and you can easy destroy printhead! This applies only to OLD CISS. New CISS has airbag support and built-in dampfer. This gentlemen refills original HP, although in some not efficient way - better take Q-tip and adapt it by cutting one end at 45 degree, so ink can flow from side. After refill, he insert the cartridge with some ink - system detects and starts printhead cleaning. After that he inserts CISS back. With this old CISS does not have airbag, so its matter of time, when this problem appear again. This is why he disables pressure sensor in Part 2. With CISS - ink is always there - pressure sensor not required. Still - printhead cleaning will not work right, because it cant clean itself - one has to do this steps manually over time. Better buy newer CISS cartridges with airbag support.
At up to ($190.00) 190 us dollars for genuine hp ink, 4 cartridges of XL, I'll definitely pass on the oem hp ink. I'll take my chances and if the printer blows I can replace the whole printer cheaper than I can buy the oem hp ink for it.
I had only the black cartridge indication faulty-it indicated always empty. I have shorted the contacts by solder but only at the side where the black cartridge is but it did not solve the issue, it still indicated empty cartridge. I had to short all 4 contact pairs, now it is working. But its strange. Why do i had to short all of them? Why black wasnt enough if only black was faulty? When i shorted only contacts of black i have removed the springs. Logically thinking if it is shorted then the springs can be removed, right? Because then they dont have any function anymore. I dont believe that removing the springs after shorting the contacts is wrong. But when i shorted all 4 pairs of contacts, i left the springs there but i isolated them from the contacts by tape. I dont think it has any meaning i just did it. So still wondering why shorting contacts of black only did not solve the issue, why i had to short all of them. I dont want to experiment any further, but it would be still good to know the level of other cartridges :)
Long video too "short" the back of the board in 4 places with wire and tape. Haven't done it yet, but plan on using wire and soldier to short the circuit, and electrical tape to insulate the short from the springs. Basically what the 11 minute video illustrated. Great idea. Thank you!
I soldered the board and managed to pull off one of the gold plates. Eventually i was able to follow the broken trace from the tiny pin next to the broken pad where it passes to the other side of the board and then passes via two other pins under some pads to then arrive at the pad that contacts the rest of the printer. Cellotape method was not very reliable.
Deu tudo certo, fiz conforme o vídeo e 100% funcionou, só fiquei com duvida se o mostrador 100% agora é permanente e não baixa mais ou se com o tempo volta a ficar baixo o nível.
I tried this without success. The problem is that the "cartridge icon" lite for black ink blinks which prohibits any printer function. The previous black ink cartridge worked well until it was empty and replaced by THREE new cartridges but none worked. Apparently while the "cartridge icon" lite blinks nothing will turn it off. Is it possible that: (1) firmware cannot be removed or updated to remove the restriction (2) since the 8100 is probably discontinued HP does not support "newer" ink cartridges which results in blinking lite ?? If neither of these what else shd I try ?? Thanx. Bewildered Bob
it would be better if you´d explain with words this wonderful work. I need to know how to replace a cartdridge of this HP 8100 Could you make a video with audio? Thanks

Thanks, it worked! I tried just shorting them at first, which didn't work, but then soldered a permanent short.
Thank you! I was sure the printer was dead for good, but this did the trick.
Roewe Xie it works fine 4 my hp 8100, Thank You. I fight with my 8100 for about 4 days till now. Thank you very much.
I just tried this today and it works 100%!!! It feels great now that I have HP's boot off of my neck! My thanks to Roewe Xie!
Great job. You saved my day. Thank you so much!! Even without words completely easy to do this "repair". God bless you!!!
GREAT VIDEO! I soldered the pins instead of tape and wire avoid to move...
Very good solution using Refillable cartridges, still better when using bulk ink system!

Thanks bro. Worked on my 8210

Hi did you fix the issue?
it would be better if you´d explain with words this wonderful work. I need to know how to replace a cartdridge of this HP 8100 Could you make a video with audio? Thanks
Great friend! this work :) thank you.
umm.. what is this good for?
Tried it. Didn’t work. Same behavior, inks blinking as empty even though when I move them I hear ink inside.
el cartucho recargable lo reconoce porq es autoreceteable y no hay q hacer esto y el cart original no lo reconoce eso no sirve
esto para que sirve para hacer reconocer unos cartuchos recargables? gracias muy buen video
I see, this is to override the real ink level sensor and let you print with the last remaining amount of ink in the cartridges?
Escelente!!!
It doesn´t work for me. I don´t know why
hi, I'm from Brazil, you send to Brazil?
