- The Milwaukee Bucks sank a franchise NBA Playoffs record 20 three-pointers (20-47 3pt FG, 42.6%) en route to a 123-102 victory over the Boston Celtics to even this best-of-7 series at 1-1. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with a game-high 29 points (7-16 FG), to go with 10 rebounds and 4 assists, while Khris Middleton added 28 points (7-10 3pt FG) and 7 rebounds in the victory. Marcus Morris led the Celtics with a team-high 17 points (6-8 FG), to go with 7 rebounds, while Kyrie Irving totaled 9 points (4-18 FG), 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the losing effort. Game 3 is set to take place at TD Garden in Boston on Friday, May 3rd at 8:00 pm ET on ESPN.

Middleton was 44th in the league in terms of 3P% among players who shot at least 200 3 pointers in the season. So no. Not top 5 at all. He's a beast vs Boston going back to last year's playoffs though
This series is gonna be a blast!!! Both these teams can really turn it on, but what most impressed me tonight was the Bucks' defense (especially in the 3rd) and the adjustments they made. The Bucks can shoot the lights out (just look at the reg. season stats) from three so this was no fluke game, though I expect a closer Game 3. But I have to give the edge to the Bucks.
Game 1 was a great victory for Boston who came in w/a great defensive strategy, BUT it was also a poor performance by Milwaukee. I find it mid-blowing that Paul Pierce would claim a series "over" after that first game. Now of course the Bucks aren't going to shoot quite this well from 3 every game, but this drubbing is really gonna force Boston to adjust for Middleton, etc. which then takes a bit of pressure off Giannis.
I am a Bucks fan so I'm biased, but I think Milwaukee got shocked in Game 1, were mentally a bit unprepared (which goes to the Celtics' experience in the post-season) and after tonight's game the two games in Boston should be closer affairs. But I think the Bucks now find themselves with a real good chance of taking them both if they can continue to keep the shooting percentages high and play their style of defense. The rest of this series is gonna be fun!!!
Not to mention Brogdon may be playing on Friday too. Gonna be a great series. I see Bucks in 6. Need to win one in Boston on this first trip though.

I'll admit, I was questioning why Bud did not change the offensive strategy midway through the last game... Turns out the best coach in the league knows a bit better than I do. He knows they can't possibly defend the 3 and the paint at the same time, they literally need all hands on deck at the rim to stand a chance against the Giannis hammer. He trusted his players to keep chipping away at this defense and we saw it crack and then crumble. The next couple games in Bean Town will be noisy but I think Bud has cracked the code. If the deer keep sinking 3s, this series will be looking favorable for the bucks from here on out. I don't expect to see the Celtics just lay down and die on their home court however, need to keep the intensity and drown out the noise.

Still can't believe P. Pierce was dumb enough to say what he did after an obviously poor Game 1 performance by Milwaukee (and I'm not takin' anything away from the Celtics' Game 1 win, they were more prepared, had a good plan, and executed). Game 3 is gonna be one helluva match-up. We'll see which team makes the correct adjustments and executes.

The Celtics are so committed on loading up the paint to Stop Giannis, they're leaving their shooters wide open. If they’re hitting 3s consistently as Paul Pierce said the series is over, unless the Celtics makes some adjustments and let Giannis has his, just lock down everybody else.

1) The Celtics went away from the pick and pop in the 3rd on their own accord. They tried to move the ball around the perimeter more as Bucks started zoning on the top of the key.
2) Bucks went small ball more with just making Lopez a straight outside shooter and pick man. The ball was more in the backcourt between multiple players and Giannis vs Giannis trying to find the 3pt man. Celtics usually eat up teams with small ball but Bucks had a compliment of Giannis and Lopez to keep mismatches under control.
3) Jaylen Brown and Rozier were lost on the road... again. They had lapses in the 3rd that took a game from a 10-pt deficit to a 24-pt deficit.
4) Giannis and Lopez were hitting shots they don't normally hit. They were intentionally placed in those positions, and doubt they gonna knock those shots down all the time. 30 feet from the basket? Lets be serious, even Kyrie aint gonna hit more than 5 of those this series.
5) Stevens did relent in the game as he knows rest, and incoming fatigue might be an issue with a team that has been playing a shorter bench due to the injuries. I wonder about how many minutes they wanna give Kyrie going forward as they have mentioned a hand injury. So games that are out of hand now , they don't mind waving the flag if they can rest their guys at home.
6) Celtics got shook when their passing lanes were taken up. This is where we miss Marcus Smart, who always made a few right passes to get through this zone. Jaylen nor Rozier can beat this zone, and Heyward has been tasked with being the floor general, which is surprising because considering how this may be the 8th straight road game Rozier has looked bad, being so adamant on having Heyward get the ball off the pick vs starting the play hurts them here.
7) Celtics need to readjust to attacking the basket, but with physical force. They dominated last game body-to-body, and that separation got them open threes because they tired Bucks out.
They let the bucks catch their breath with passing stuff in the rd . Contrary to people saying ball movement is great, sometimes, getting to the basket and bodying guys , exerting your will, gets more of these lanes open. It can't just be Kyrie, because if they end up in the FInals , you talking 13 more games of going in the lane. Last thing you want is for him to get hurt. Tell Morris stop jacking up threes and get down there.
8) Those long armed forwards aren't good scorers. Let Snell have those shots or go to the basket. Give him one option. They aint good enough to be efficient on it. They score in bunches because their backcourt is fast and their 3 pt men are tall and sneak back and pop it. We have the combo of strength and speed. Force those Euro bigs to get theirs at the basket. Let Snell have a 40 pt game. Let Giannis keep up with those 3s.
Thats a game they aint use to playing. And they won because of one good quarter out of 8. Like the Celtics odds to be honest. We played our game and two players got shook. Think when our bench guys wake up a little too or Tatum goes off. then what. We good.

I don't think Snell is going to get his starter position back after the injury. It's going to be Ilyasova/Sterling Brown/Mirotic and some Snell. You make a lot of points mostly looking at things from a Celtics point of view. You are right that Celtics suffer from depth issues while the Bucks can easily play 11 guys. This is why the Bucks usually win in the 4th quarter. We just grind teams down with constant bursts of energy.
