Your generosity of spirit is inspiring. Thank you so much for these clear and usable tips, demonstrations and advice. It helps immensely.
This is the best flower detail that I've ever seen! I think I might just have it this time, can't wait to try it.
I totally agree!
I agree.
I am not a very confident artist but you break the flower subject into understandable chunks that I feel are achievable. Can’t wait to give it a go. Looks deceptively simple.
Thank you Ellen I’m learning so much from you lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
I love these 'tutorials' lately showing more depth
You are by far the best teacher for beginners in watercolor painting. Thanks
Hi Ellen!
Comparing the two paintings is so helpful. What a great teaching strategy. Thank you!
Oh! Thank you Ellen ❤️
Ellen you ROCK! Thanks so much for taking the time to break it down for us. I love your style, and would give my only eye tooth for your incredible artistic talents👍😆❤️
I'm thinking that this technique might work better for me because it forces me to slow down for more precision instead of working so quickly and ending up with a messier look. Thank you Ellen.
I am struggling with flowers. I'm going to watch this when I get home from work!
I’ve watched at least 50 tutorials and I think this one may be the most useful and inspiring. Thank you so much!
Just amazing as usual Ellen! Best descriptions I’ve heard on the glazing technique. I love it! Blessings to you and again thanks for all you do for your UA-cam tribe.
Thank you so much for patiently showing me how to paint more interesting flowers!
What a great tutorial with some great instructional content. Step by step details that are simple to follow for beginners as well as reaffirming things learned long the way for more seasoned artists. Some rules apply forever and when you learn early on about shadows and highlights you’re set to build upon those principals or life. I appreciate you “showing” s step by step using repitió. Thank our for being an awesome demonstrator and teacher! I’m encouraged!

Ellen this is the best tutorial I have ever watched. You are an amazing teacher. The way you explain the colours, brush you use (just one!!!!) the explanation of shading and your easy to understand. Thank you for getting me through the last 4 years and I look forward to many more with you ❤ especially now your floral Fridays have appeared on my feed instead of having to search.
So helpful!@. You are a great teacher. many thanks!
I Always struggle with flowers and leaves. Ellen I have learned Soooo much from you. Tk you from a 73 yr old self taught Great Granny from NC!
Excellent! I’m going to be trying this ASAP! Thank you!!
Thank you for your clear instructions. I was pleased with my results after watching your tutorial.

Great tutorial Ellen. I am going to try this tomorrow. Thank you!
I want to learn to do the bloppy flower as well, mine look too planned sometimes. All tips welcome. Thank you Ellen for sharing so much content with us.

Fabulous work, Ellen. I’ve learned a lot here! ❤
Thank you Ellen 😊
Love this instruction, Ellen. You make it look so easy, beautiful flowers.💚
Tank you for sharing 💐♥
Ellen what a fantastic tutorial. So detailed and with lots of good advice for a novice like me! Loved it. Thank you so much and thanks for focusing in for blind bat's like me😂
Thanks. This is a great tutorial that help me to understand the complete watercolor process. Glazing technique, use of values to pop up some zones, mixing colors. Can´t wait to practice and try. Again Congratulatios
What a great video Ellen, thank you 😊 it was great watching your flowers come together, beautiful 😍
Great tutorial with lots of info! Thank you for sharing!
You spoke to me and my frustrations. You're a great and encouraging teacher.
Very helpful tutorial! ❤ Thank you!!!! 😊
I need more videos on how to create depth. Mine look so flat. I know there is tricks, just dont know what they are. Theses tips were great!
So helpful ! Thank you
Gorgeous!! I'm obsessed with these two flowers!!
Wonderful direction, I’m watching it several times before trying!
I so much enjoyed your tutorial! You are great! 🌸😊
Beautiful! Thank you Ellen! 🌟💙
Thanks, this was very helpful. I struggle with figuring out where (logically) to put the shading and adding details to add dimension or textures (especially when I don't have a reference photo or subject to observe but am just painting from imagination). Would really like to understand this better. More like this please!
The close up was really useful. Interesting that you have to use less water, that's something I am not used to
Hi Helen, this was very informative. Learning about lifting colour and adding colour from tube so it doesn't bleed is a game changer for me. Thank you x
You're wonderful! I'm still trying to draw the flower.your tutorials are helping me a lot! This was a bitbfastvfor me but I'm stopping it as I go.
Excellent! Very helpful tips on process, small amounts of water and paint. Thank you!
You're just what I need! Thanks!
Thank you so much Ellen. This was amazingly helpful. I painted while watching it and practicing the techniques you described. What a difference.
Thanks so much for this great lesson. These details help move our skill to the next level. More of these!!!
beautiful work. I did try it and I think it did improve my flowers but I am still not slowing down enough!! Also I am amazed how much work you put into the centers but they are still clean, not a mess of color. Mine get muddy. But very helpful, yes!
WOW ❤ so pretty and such GREAT instruction 😊TFS
Hi Ellen this was such an excellent demonstration or tutorial I really learned a lot from I actually the started working on it right after I watched the video and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out I'm gonna keep practicing kind of having problems drawing the flower so naturally or or relaxed like you make it look just The pencil line drawing looks so relax I'm sure you've probably drawn a lot more flowers that I have it yeah you're just you're drawing alone looks very realistic and that helps to envision what the color is going to look like I think I don't know if I'm explaining thanks I really appreciated this particular demonstration take care
So helpful! These are lovely!
Wonderful painting thank you for all your tutorials
Beautiful! Thank you!
So beautiful ❤ lots of practicing for me. Thank you Ellen 😊
Thank you so much, Ellen, this is so thorough and beautiful, just what I need at this time, too! Blessings to you!
It is amazing what talent plus years of hard work can accomplish - thank you for sharing !
Thank you so much Ellen - this was extraordinarily helpful!
Absolutely beautiful!!!!
Very nice job!
I had a terrible time with this. I never like to be critical, so it must be me. I have never tried dint the stamen and center and paint the flower later. I had a horrible mess, and after trying so hard quit and tossed it. It wasn't salvageable. Your a great artist but never saw it don't this way. Your very good at not rushing the tutorial. I'm sure many will get it and love the outcome. I don't give up, so when I feel better, I'll try again. I have Lupus and my hands hurt 😊😊
I loved watching you complete the pink flower that I made a mess of. My drawings were fine so maybe I'm better at sketching than painting. 🤣
Ellen, great video.thank you for all your instructions
Thank you for this video. I enjoy following your tutorials but I think this video will help me paint on my own. I love learning the process.
love this.I look @ my variegated roses. Some r very light inside and just dark around the edges. I need to play with that. How the edges r just tipped with a beautiful red and the centers r either yellow or white. . A challenge for me. The the yellow rose is red on the inside. Flowers r so interesting. This really will make me look @ flowers differently. Thank u so much
Beautiful, but can you adjust your camera focus,Ellen? On the close-ups the camera is focused on your hand rather than on your work.
Just gorgeous! So helpful too. Thank you.
Great video! I wish I can share my pics with you! 😊🎨
Another helpful video! Thanks so much, Ellen!
Amazing, beautiful! ❤️ 🌷 ❤️
Thank you! This is super!!!!🎉
So great. Thank you.
Love this Ellen.
Great video!Thank you!
Great video very helpful 😊
Great! would really like to see more tutorials like this.
Thank you for the helpful info! I've been trying to play around with flowers but not necessarily florals. It seems I'm better at them but not my favorite thing to do. But isn't that how things are? Ha but thanks for giving me ways on to provide details to my super simple flowers but I'm still happy with them lol. My biggest issue with painting especially watercolor is waiting for the paint to dry! I juat cant get past it and always "test" it and say ahh ita good enough and continueHave a great day
love everything you share… Now all I have to do is try…
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I am struggling with. When I do the feathering on the petals, it always looks so fake or contrived. I hope you will do some additional videos on this topics of adding detail with different types of flowers. Thanks again 😊
Enjoyed watching your process. I’m trying to get ok with painting underglazes on clay tiles in a watercolour effect and while I’ve some advantage over paper that pencil drawings burn off in firing, my main problem is that underglaze pigments fire too strong in their output. It’s been a challenge to keep a light…light…light touch! Thanks for making this video.
Great tutorial! This will be so helpful. Thank you!
Very helpful!
Gorgeous. Thank you!❤
Excellent tutorial !! Thank you so much
GREAT TUTORIAL. THANK YOU.
Awesome. Thank you
Really enjoyed this. Thanks. 🤗
Magical!
I love this demonstration but while you are painting the image goes out of focus, then comes back into focus once you stop. If there is any way to change this, I'm all in! Love the way you teach!
Ellen, this video is SOOO helpful!!
Question: How do I create the realistic color of the petals of a little flower in the daffodil family, known here in Georgia as "Bread and Butter Daffodils". I brought one in from the yard, to draw/paint it last night. It's much smaller than the regular yellow daffodil. The center is a delicate yellow, with a tiny bit of spring green towards the base of the center.
It's the petals that are my problem!!!
They're this horribly pale yellowish white. My eye sees maybe even a hint of a grayish undertone in the petal color.
Last night I played around, trying to mix/get the petal color right.
Tried using a tad of my WN Professional watercolor-Paynes Grey in my mix. THAT PG is a "blueish grey", SOOO when I added a tap of it to my watered down Hansa Yellow Light, I got a very pale light green!!!
I don't know HOW to paint this little "Bread & Butter" daffodil!
Do you have any ideas?? Many thanks for all your teaching!
thank you ,very cool video
I’m am ecstatic that I’ve found YOU! I’m absolutely Ooooouzing with gladness & Joy!❤❤❤❤🎉😅
Love, you Kiddo!

Thank you so much for showing a bit more advanced painting. I too get tired of the "loose" style and want to go my game.
Thanks, this is so helpful!
I would love to see how you use masking fluid for this
Brilliant thank you so much
Thanks!
Wow thank u
you're fantastic
This is like watching magic happening. :D
Up close, detailed instruction. Very helpful. Ellen, I would love to take an in person class from you. Do you do those? I am in southern NH; I think you're not too distant. What say you? Of all the utube instructors I watch, I have gained the most confindence from you.
Thanks for the tutorial. It is very informative because mine look like the unsufisticated.
