Looking good. I love my DDS1's. I installed a Altec Lansing Attenuator 30904. I only replaced the caps in the x-over, didn't change any values. I bought two of the 30904's off ebay and changed the 6uf cap to 3 because the horn is 16ohms not 8ohms. The 30904 has a diagram on it showing how to wire it in. Before the highs over powered the lows. Now very well balanced. In my opinion.

I'm going to have to look into this. I keep hearing about the 30904 attenuators.. as with all 811 horns if you can tame the beast they are out of this world. Clean and crisp highs and mid. Like you I replaced all the components in the Xovers but no customization. Stuck with stock values.

Friend is offering a pair, but seems overpriced. He has had the xovers recapped and rewired, powder coated the horns and added little new insulation, so they are plug and play. Cabs are light Formica and solid. Haven't heard them properly set up yet, but thinking about pulling the trigger. Think the Utah 15s may be considered the weak point, or looked down upon, but the little I heard from them seems they're much better in this cabinet than they have gotten credit for? Didn't realize they are tuned to hit 20 Hz. No sub needed if that's the case. Thanks for the demo!

Hi. I've seen a pair for sale. I have a pair of ISOPHON G3037's which I absolutely love. The horn 'upgrade'? How difficult? My room is 8m x 8m with a 4m high ceiling. No furniture, just my listening room. The look huge, would they be too big for my listening space? Cheers for any direction/advice.

These are definately "BIG" speakers in terms of physical size and presence. They are high efficiency so as such don't need much to drive them. They are comfortable with small wattage tube amps. The demo here shows them being powered by about 25w per channel. The 811 horns are very forward and in stock format not suitable for a small living room. But your room of 26' by 26' is a nice sized room for these. They need to be tamed, one way is to add an LPad, which I plan to do soon. However compared to other speakers that use the 811 horn these cabinets are tuned down to 20hz so the added bass blends well with the forward sounding horns. I have a pair of Altec Valencias which have the same horn and a factory attenuator. I have it turned down to about 1/4 and the horns are just about right. GPA has a driver upgrade that can go easily on these horns, I did this to another pair of Val's I had in the past for crisper highs.. Taking the drivers off and replacing the diaphragms was fairly simple. Just move slow and in a clean environment, free from anything magnetic that could get into the gap for the voice coil. Clean the gap out with folded tape as shown in the instructions. Changing the complete driver to the newer GPA (Great Plains Audio) is just a matter of unbolt the old and bolt on the new. The vocals Altec horns produce is legendary. I would also recommend having anti reflective surfaces in your listening room if you don't have them already. Best of luck.. If you get a pair of these I'm sure you'll like them. I listen to Altec 604C's (two pairs, one in original 606 Cabinets and one pair in 620 style cabinets), Altec Valencias, and a pair of EV Aristocrats with custom crossovers and an 8HD horn backed by an Atlas driver.. each one of these speaker sets as well as these Seeburg's have their own little nuances that make them special. So with the Seeburg's it just a different kind of good.

I may acquire a pair of these but they do come with problems not sure what they are but one has issues would love to pick your brain if it happens one on improving their sound and taming them as you mention would you be open to that?

on mine I did replace one of the diaphragms.. I have not tamed the horns as of yet. Typically adding dynamat to the can help with some of the ringing they can be known for and attenuation is a good upgrade.
