I have had this controller for about 6 months now. I use it for creating mixes and just sitting down and mixing because of it ease of use. When I do a gig I usually bring the technics out with my Pioneer 900-SRT. Great controller for the money and can be used to do smaller gigs too.

This particular controller comes with Serato DJ Intro which is a basic version of Serato DJ without a lot of features. It's designed to get you started and allow you to see if this is for you. I of course purchased the full version so that I can use it with any controller or DVS system. The SB series are great for starting out in the controller world IMO. GL!

+%100 Portakal I swung for a Mixtrack Pro 3 Instead, which I kind of regret. I love my MTP3, but it REALLY needs a trim knob, and dedicated effects knob.

Heh, I still use this DJ controller in my home studio. I love the controller for its simplicity. I do have a Reloop Neon which I always use with it.
Even after 7 years of use, I'm still happy with it. The only thing I hate about it, are the small tempo faders. I'm in the market for new gear, but I'll wait till next year.
I did have a mixer and two CDJ's, but it took up way too much space in the studio. Despite its lack of features, I'm still positive of the switch to this controller.
AND ... I love to use Serato.
I also got this controller!!! And this does the job if you wanna rock a small venue at a bar/pub or even a backyard party!!! 😎 And this is coming from a Vinyl DJ who started in the early 90s!!! The only thing is I don't mess with sync lol 😑

Great Video. I was trying to figure out what the Pad Trans button was for and now I know. This is a solid unit. It's my back up for my important gigs and my go to unit for restaurant and bar gigs and where space is limited.

Great review! I'm getting this to start with, but I want to eventually get the larger SX or SZ because I heard the serato is not being used at its full capacity but that's okay as the type of music I'm going to play is different.

Could I play a song out loud from my speakers while listening to a different song through my headphones so I can transition it? Also would I be able to connect those big speakers like the ones in parties?
Hi Tirth, yes the middle section of the mixer has the Cue buttons/headphones level/mix etc and that's the area where you'd control what you're hearing through your headphones, while another track could be playing live through the speakers. To connect to the speakers, you'd use the Master Out (RCA) connection from your controller to the input on the speakers :)

Can pioneer ddj-sb2 portable 2-channel dj controller be used on virtual dj????????
I'm having problems connnecting the DDJ-SB2 to Serato DJ? One computer says that it has error #4 on it, and the other one says that the hardware is loading into the software but it doesn't show the two decks on Serato DJ. Do you think it's the computers that are too old to load up the new controller? Both of the computers are between 2009 and 2011 and they're both Macs, and have OS X El Capitan. Do you have any tips on how to get it to work on Serato DJ?

You can certainly use it at gigs, however if you're playing something beyond a wedding make sure to ask the venue if they're cool with controllers :)

A few questions.. does the vinyl option work like on real cdjs? I cant decide between ddj rb and ddj sb2... there are little details in what I prefer and I simply cant decide.. halp :S I work with trance and hardstyle music... RB has cool sync and play/pause buttons, like on real cdjs and looks cooler than SB2, bit it doesnt have the vinyl or cdj option and it doesnt have 6.3mm jack... I cant decide, halp! Thank you for your time!
They're very similar, though the RB is designed exclusively for integration with Pioneer's own Rekordbox DJ software, whereas the SB2 works with both Serato DJ and RBDJ. If you haven't yet decided, here are the full reviews for each:

hey guys, I'm having a problem with my mix gain. I upload them in soundcloud but they're not as loud as the songs I find there. My channel levels are almost in the red, my master level is almost 50% turned all the way to the right and my Trim is in the middle. Can anyone help me?
Well your master should be at 100% when recording mixes, but that depends on software to software
I used to DJ at London nightclubs, typical set up would be cdj 1000's and DJM 800 or above. Sold my decks few years ago but tempted to but a unit like this. Do these units heavily rely on using a laptop and serato? I prefer to just mix on my own without laptop, will I miss out on all the features by not using a laptop?
What tempo is the default? +10? +6? I'd like to just plug this into speakers and mix without a laptop.
Anyone played on a club set up and can tell me what these units are lacking in comparison? They are much much cheaper so what features will be missed vs a cdj 1000 and djm 900 (aside from effects, more channels etc)
It is USB bus powered so you do need a laptop/pc to plug it into. You can't use the unit by itself as it is a controller and gets the music from your library in your laptop (iTunes). Although Serato is the preferred program, you can use VirtualDJ, DJay Pro (which I use), and I think Traktor can also be used but needs mapping I believe. It is very much a level entry controller (but a very good level entry controller!) and will not be anything like your Pro gear that you have used in the past.

I just would like to mix on a controller, without a laptop, no latency, no lag or delays on buttons. Think the xdj looks very nice but I wasn't going to spend that for a little bedroom setup for occasional mixes etc.
For a standalone set up is going to cost unfortunately. I did see a piece on the Denon DJ MCX8000 which seems a fairly robust bit of kit and very versatile from what I have seen. Prices can vary, I have seen one for £930 on Ebay ranging up to a grand. (Out of my price range!!) and costs more than the xdjr1. I'm not much help I'm afraid, but if you google laptop free controllers you may pick up a bargain somewhere. Good luck.
Definitely the Pioneer XDJ-RX is your best bet, but as you mentioned, it's a bit over budget for your home set-up - though it'll be the closest you can get to club gear without splurging on full CDJs. Here's our review of the unit: www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/05/review-pioneer-xdj-rx/

No problem. Install Serato DJ Intro from their official website (you'll get the latest version, which is really needed).
If you have problems, you may want to install the SB2 drivers from Pioneer official website.

I have a sb2 and the right cue button(to choose which channel to listen on headphone) next to the filter knob stays on. Is there a way to fix that??
Weird, tough to say because it shouldn't be happening - what software are you using?

It's more than fine, you do need to purchase to get the "max potential" but it's more than good enough using the Lite software as well

yeah I ran it with serato dj. when I first got it, it worked fine but after certain time I tried using it again and it didn't want to work. the turntables work because Guitar center connected it, to a Apple desktop and it worked just not with macbook pro.

You'll want to have a backup plan (a way to play music in case something happens to your set-up). Also you'll want to communicate ahead of time to the club and make sure it's okay to bring your own gear, as every venue is different. You'll also likely be plugging your controller into their house mixer, which is connected to their PA system. Bringing extra cables to output from your gear is a good idea :)
Soooo I've had the SB2 for about 6 months now and I haven't been able to use the FX knobs through Serato without it glitching and freezing. Anyone else having this problem? And don't tell me I need to upgrade my Macbook Pro, I use Ableton Live which eats up way more CPU and I rarely have an issue!!!! I NEED A SOLUTION PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Sounds very frustrating Ken! Haven't experienced that issue - definitely drop a note to Pioneer DJ (their support and forums) to get a fix
sooo a cousin of mine got a ddjsb2 as a present and i am helping him install it .. i downloaded the trial.. i upgraded to the latest firmware... but now the audio doesnt work.. it says error connection audio !!! help please

Do you need RCA audio cables in order to hear sound from the controller or can you simply use the usb cord they provide? I do not have any of the master out cables so I figured that's why no sound. Any help please!
You can listen through headphones that can be plugged into the side of the controller, but it's better to get some RCA cables (they are not expensive and can be bought through EBay or any audio visual store) which when plugged into speakers give a much better sound, plus you can then use your headphones to mix.

You just have the RCA jacks for Master Out, so you'll need to hook it up to a bigger mixer for use with anything other than one set of speakers (eg main speakers + a booth monitor)

Hi there, just got this one, and i'm a bit disapointed.
I installed everything as mentionned (not my first controller so i'm used to it)
And in fact i'm wondering.
is this controler actually works on Windows 10 ?
Coz' for now, i only see that, as a problem.
Asio-Fwire are installed, i can see the soundcard in traktor (wich i installed to see if it was'nt a software problem)
But all in all, nothing looks like working on Windows 10 :s
Serato software tells me that the controller is not connected (or disconnected)
Any idea about that ? It's really anoying as i defenatly don't wanna go back on win7 nor 8...

have you downloaded the driver? there are specific instructions about downloading a driver for the controller if using it on the PC.
Everything is ok now, problem was the serato version wich was too old, needed a new login/pswd to get the latest version.

So i hav a few questions if someone could help that would be great... I have a mac book air and have just been using virtual DJ for the past 2 years and looking forward to getting this controller for christmas. So does it work with virtual DJ and if so does it cost money to buy the license or is it free. I don't mind serato but does it come with it? Speakers cost quite a bit swell and would rather just play it through my laptop speakers does that work?

What do you mean by full time use? Club use? I don't see why not. The only thing you might need are more channels.

Hey Ahmad, depends - the RB is a dedicated Rekordbox DJ controller, whereas the SB2 isn't quite as tightly integrated with RBDJ, but also works with Serato DJ and Virtual DJ (pick your software of preference, then choose your gear) :)

For speakers, the controller has one master RCA output, so as long as your speaker has an input that can manage that (likely it can) then yes :)
