Those blades were so dull, might as well mounted a bunch of those tiny hands on it to high-five the grass. Glad you sharpened them :D

Cap’n you said you didn’t care but, I’m gonna ‘splain to everyone how that there brake works….
You stomp the pedal and the wheel stops turning. No anchor , wheel chock or tree in the way-required. It was actually quite revolutionary when it was invented.
Again, no need for thanks, this is just another one of those free services provided to my YT buddies and their inquisitive fans!!!

Getting pretty fancy with your "action" shots.... I always struggle with those fuel shut-off valves. I get them off Amazon and it seems they will always leak. Now, some seem to be "self healing" once the seals apparently swell, but some are just complete fails. I guess you get what you pay for. What they lack in quality you make up for in quantity. I hate to be "that guy" but I am assuming you know your front left tire needed air. Per usual, I enjoy the content. I appreciate how you just get after it and your sense of humor. Here's hoping your Crocks are steel toe'd and fire resistant, unlike some slippers I have. P.S. - Top tip - Don't weld in slippers.

The bends in the brake lever are made so that as the lever rotates they push pins in against the brake pad, which in turn clamps the pads onto the rotor. A frequent problem is that the pins rust in place because they aren't lubricated or protected (oil on pads - not good).

If you take a old flap disk and run it against something hard on the edge, cutting the disk back! It starts cutting better again Mike! I hope you know what I’m trying to say, it brings the non-cutting flapper disk come back to life and cut good again! I’ve used those flapper disk down to the metal center piece, trying to save money because those are great disks but expensive! I know you and I like to save our hard earned money my friend! You should be able to tell if the blade mounting bolt is right or left handed, by the direction it turns when cutting. One exception to that is, the Woods 60 inch belly mower I put on my little Allis tractor years ago.
Someone sold the guy a Woods 60, instead of an L60 and he could never make it work right. The belt routing for the little Allis really needs to be for the L60, which is left handed.
I had trouble getting the belt to work right for the right handed mower, so instead of buying new left handed spindles, I used my impact, set on Nuclear, to put the blades on. I only lost one blade in 10 years of mowing with that set up.

Been working on a JD Z-225 zero turn. Had to re-engine mine but it came with a near new deck and the hydro drives work as they should. Just finished last step: graphite coating on the underside of the deck. Yours took a lot less coin to bring back to life. Good find.

Back in the 60's we had a Simplicity mower that was similar to this but with a few differences. Instead of a steering wheel it had a joy stick that functioned as both steering and clutch (you pulled it back to actuate the transmission). The only real design flaw was that it was built without brakes. My 12 year old self glimpsed eternity more than once going downhill. The best part though was that with the rear engine and only a single tube for the front frame it popped wheelies like a dragster.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. The blades on the mower reminded me of some of my previous battles. I used to refer to bludgeoning the lawn instead of cutting it since my blades were frequently closer to clubs than swords.
Random thought, do you have any streams with enough flow and head to put in a ram pump. You could use the IBC tote bladder for a elevated storage tank. Wishing you and your family the best.

I've just been dealing with the straight 1/4" fuel plug out of the tank... the ones I've bought have leaked around the stem... Maybe it's common so mfgs have switched because the larger are more reliable. I ended up using a sealer.

I am starting to question your country boy ways. In my neck of the woods they would just put a jelly jar under that valve when they parked it to catch that gas. Then just pour it back in the tank when ready to mow. All those valves and filters cut into the beer money fund dang it. Ok, at least you getter done cheap To answer your question of why JD makes that valve with two sizes it is so you cannot go to Amazon and get cheap parts and must come to them and pay through the nose. Good job getting around that boondoggle.
