NOTE: This is now no longer a useful video as Signature Skills have been reworked entirely as of the Hero Rework. This video I've decided to keep up as a fun little timecapsule, but if you want to learn more about Signature Skills *now*, check this out- ua-cam.com/video/vP91Bok9BDw/v-deo.html During the premiere, a viewer suggested that the AI would be better if the summoning logic was just "if summon then > summon" and tbh, that might be right. Opinions? Would you be furious if you watched your summons waste their first 2 turns in most resource node fights in return for being *way* better in ancient wonder, free city and infestation fights?
Summon turn 1 and have the summon run forward to pull aggro is a perfectly useful way of using summons; it might not do as much damage that way, but it absorbs a lot of damage. It does require the AI to realize "I am expendable, it's fine to charge forward and get slaughtered".
@@wepg It's a kind of weird limitation, given that both of the possible summons for summon undead would be legal in water battles (they have floating) and suitable animals (deep sea nimu, thunderbird, wyverns) do exist (though summoning thunderbirds in water battles would be kinda gross since everything is wet).
@@01pantagruel I guess those floating undead are treated like vampires and are thus not allowed to cross water by RP reasions. RP could explain, basicly every unbalanced design in the game, so i am not shocked, the devs advertised RP so much in AoW4. Tbh, though i guess its just an oversight. Also elementals should not be able to be turned to zombies, yet they can, while this was not possible in either AoW2 or AoW3. On top of this not all elementals could float, a Fire Elemental in AoW2 had normal walking and certainly could not cross water, which makes sense.....as FIRE Elemental.
Really enjoy your content. One suggestion: Even if it seems redundant, go over the stuff you've already covered in other videos. It allows new viewers to catch up.
@wepg, I'm definitely curious how this list will shift when Eldritch Realms drops 🤔 Do you think you'll do an update video for this list? Would love to hear your takes!
Best guess about why Stone Spirits are weak to spirit damage, involves false idols. Considering you can take skills that buff your defense too, it's not the best argument to put Nature Aspect lower on grounds you can get health other ways. Especially when 120 health 4 defense at level 4 gives you 1 more hit against T2 Polearms than 100 health 6 defense; and taking assuming you take the same skills on level up, the Nature Aspect will always provide more survivability. Watchful also generally equals more damage than the 30% crit chance of Materium Aspect. Btw, being inflicted with status effects, being inflicted with too many since your last turn, fumbling and missing attacks all lower moral as well. Not just units/heroes dying. Because of this, Tome of Mayhem or Tome of Fey Mists are much better pairs for Tome of Doomherald than the typical pair of Tome of Revelry. This applies to Shadow Aspect too, however, unless you build around it, it doesn't do much.
Watchful doesn't scale nearly as well as +30% crit once you have quickened breath online, simply due to the power of crits there, but the fact that you can make awesome T4 weapons does open up a provoke option with Nature. The issue is that you can heal in combat if you bring supports, so each individual HP is worth more than the next, especially when you factor in the defensive limits on Dragons (due to missing all the important defensive item slots other than ring). +20 HP is a big deal against lower tier units, but against the big Bois you need some +def/+res or your HP melts faster than your healers will heal.
@@wepg You have to have 50% crit chance already for +30% Crit to be more damage overall than an additional retaliation without the +30% Crit. In the situation that the incoming damage before defense is higher such as 20, or 40, then the difference in +2 Defense vs. +20 health is smaller, but still favors the health. For example, if you would take 20 per hit, 3 hits before defense, and assuming you have 7 defense(Materium DL + both scales), you'll take 15 per hit. 2 extra Defense is 13.8 but the game will round that up to 14. So across 3 hits you take 3 less damage, with 100 health, than taking 3 more with 120 health. However, it's ultimately 8 hits either way, and more damage than you can easily out heal(42 vs 45). If the incoming damage, thanks to crits and excessive buffs were 40 per hit, and you had 13 defense(7 from before + 4 from defense 1~3, + 2 from Dragonheart) then you'd take 23.5 rounded to 24. While with +2 defense you take 21.6 rounded to 22. Saving 2 health per attack but it again not mattering because you can't out heal the damage and it still taking 5 hits. The lower the damage, the less +2 defense saves over without it, and the more the +20 health matters; however, while the +2 defense matters slightly more against higher damage, it doesn't make enough of a difference to survivability compared to the +20 health.
@@AhranMaoDante The issue is that you are not understanding the way combat works with the way you've done your math. Crits aren't just extra damage, they inflict morale damage to enemies and grant morale to your own units. Additionally you can't get extra damage on your breath weapon via Watchful kinda no matter what you are doing. On the HP side, you are also not really understanding the way healing works, as HP totals are not static. Regeneration and Temporary HP scale *way* better with +def/+res than they do with +Max HP. +20 Max HP isn't bad, necessarily, but it doesn't scale with healing effects nearly as well as Materium/Astral.
and the fact that the statue doesn't effect many unit types. maybe if they upgraded decay to work like acid rather then be a counter to healing, there might be a better use-case.
If I have a shadow dragon with shadow transformation, will I get 2 chances for an enemy to freeze? Since shadow dragon gives me a chance to freeze and the transformation gives me another chance? Or will I get only one chance based on the higher % value?
about the Dragon scales. Dragon scales level 2 give you a resistence of 5 agsinst something. What is absolutely ok, together with your general resistence you reach like over 70% resistence to that damage type. Dragon scales level 3 gives you the same resistence. At this point you get something you have absolutely eneugh from. I think it would be good to change level 3 Dragon scales.
The reason why stone spirits are weak to spirit damage is becouse they are from stone, so like physical and spirit is the opposite of physical. I think that was there thoughts.

I think we should have alot of planerfalls features. One being choosing the spells the ai can use in auto
@@royalgreed4499 Agreed, it would be good for usability.
Occurs there's an easy way to test this: do manual combat, immediately summon, then turn the rest of the combat over to the AI.
What about, IF turn 2, and have summon, summon.
Same with archers. Help keep them alive a bit if they would just delay their movement by one turn.
A significant advantage of summon elemental over the other summons is that it works in water battles.
Yes, another great point in Summon Elemental's favor. Definitely the best summon in my book.
