My husband and I married young. We were 19 and 18 yrs old. He was in the Army. There were times he had to be away. Open Arms and Faithfully by Journey were our songs during those times. This month we'll be celebrating 41st wedding anniversary. To this day I can't help but get emotional when we hear those two songs. It brings back priceless memories.
The pure magic of Steve Perry. A voice unmatched, even to this day. It's been a priviledge to be a fan since the late 1970's. The one and only... THE VOICE, Mr. Steve Perry. Forever in my heart...❤
🎼🔥🔥🌿🔥🔥🎼 .. he is the diamond .. he is the 1 in 10,000,000 voice that found the right band members , and the right songs. There is nothing like Journey , thank you for this share. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🎼🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Sarah- Steve Perry is the former lead singer of Journey. He is kind of in semi retirement now but for sure one of the greatest singers ever. Open Arms has to be one of my all time fav songs. Go ahead and react to there song Don't stop Believin. You will like that one to.
This is my all time best 80's ballad.. Poison.. Every Rose had it's Thorn and Something to Believe In are close but you cannot mess with Steve Perry's voice ever
This is so much more powerful seeing live. On the album it's great, sitting in the audience and watching Steve belt this out will give you chills. Been there, done that and had the T-shirt, May 1982 on this tour. Check out "Faithfully" from their Frontiers tour. Saw them on that one in 1983.
Hi Sarah, I love your reaction. This is definitely one of the best written pop love songs in the last 40 years and the fact that one the best male vocalists is singing it doesn't hurt!
Sarah, i just caught your reaction videos of Faithfully & Open Arms by Journey. If you don’t mind me saying that you’re reaction to these timeless videos & songs by one of the greatest band’s of our generation and maybe even all time ! watching your expressions and your words actually made me feel very happy to see your appreciation for older music and songs of yesterday! The words you used to express your feelings and emotions were amazing. I’m so happy that you’re discovering the music that was created by probably the greatest artists over a span of 2 decades, it is the greatest music ever written, preformed, and played! i was so lucky to be young when this music came out. i was so blessed. I was having such a bad weekend and today was no better either. But your videos lifted me up and made me smile and made me happy!! please don’t stop discovering new older music you will not be disappointed! Thank you for making me feel better! i’m grateful for discovering your channel! Chris Klatter 😊
Probably my biggest regret is that I never had the opportunity to see Journey in concert while Steve Perry was with them. Absolutely amazing singer & just a lovely man in general. If you love Faithfully and Open Arms, try Send Her My Love and When You Love a Woman. Another song that was really emotional & difficult, but in a different way, was Mother, Father.
Open Arms, was written by the piano player when he was with the band The Baby's their lead singer thought the song was too mushy. So he brought it with him when he joined Journey. 🌹
@@CryMeARiver63 Jonathan Cain yes, the keyboardist for journey, the baby's and Bad English. He was interviewed and said himself, he brought the song with him from the Baby's.
@@michaelwheeling7422 The story of the song ' Open Arms ' "Open Arms" is a song by the American rock band Journey. It was released as a single from the band's 1981 Heavy Metal soundtrack and "Escape" album. It was co-written by band members Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain, and is a power ballad. The song's lyrics attempt to rekindle a drifting relationship. It is one of the band's most recognizable radio hits and their biggest hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number two in February 1982 and staying there for six weeks.
Steve Perry and I share a birthday!!!🎉🎉 I love his voice!!! This is one of my favorite songs!! I’ve seen where someone put his voice on a pitch machine and his voice is pitch perfect! The few times it wasn’t, when they made it pitch perfect they took out his emotion he puts in his songs.
First serious song I ever learned on piano. Not being able to read sheet music, I had to write the letter of the note above each in every measure. Learn one measure at a time and add it to the last one learned. I amazed my father and step mom the first time they heard me play it. They both teared up as did I. Amazing song!
Steve Perry has one of the greatest voices of all time, pure God given talent! A legend in music like Elvis, Freddie, M.J. and Phil Collins. I can listen to this pure magic all day long.
I saw Journey in 1987 (Raised on Radio Tour). It does not matter whether he is belting out rock tunes or his strongest strength, his ballads, he has the purest voice among all singers and vocalist. Perry was blessed by the Rock God of them all and he certainly did not waste it and telling or should I say singing about love from being far away or close to you. You cant take away the band either. They were always tight and beautifully synchronized. Journey is truely the Band of the ages in Rock and all other forms of music. Bar none.
I always come back to him, he’s a legend, fans to this day still have connections to the band being part of his magical voice and band 80s songs carry on
His voice is in a class with very few.. operatic.. like Freddy Mercury. So glad you have discovered Journey. They were wonderful when I was growing up.
Love this song love your reaction to this song Sarah your so awesome on your youtube channel you show alot passion too the song love that about you thank you so much for sharing this video with us your so awesome Sarah.🌹❤️❣️
This was back when bands were good! Playing live, with no 'special' effects to make them sound better. They played their own instruments, sang with their :real: voices and gave their audiences what they came to see and hear. So Glad you found them. You should go check out Toto's Africa. You'd love it.
I would like to take a moment to Say I appreciate your channel and I truly enjoy your genuine reactions and emotional responses to what you are hearing. And to that end I would like to strongly recommend a Metal Singer ( Russell Allen) From The Band Symphony X arguable one of the best Metal singers of his generation ...at least. The Song I would love you to hear and react to is (A Winters Dream: Prelude pt.1) off the Album (The Damnation Game) you won't be sorry. Past that anything Russell Sings is worth listening to so clean and powerful.
Written by Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain. Produced by the late Kevin Elson, RIP, and late Mike Stone, RIP. In the movies Heavy Metal and Last American Virgin. Great ballad! 👏 1 of the best singing efforts of Steve Perry in Journey! 🤯 In 1980, Jonathan Cain was in The Babys 👶. He wrote a piano instrumental. 🎹 He showed it to lead singer John Waite. He rejected it! 🙄 The Babys broke up. 💔 In 1981, keyboardist Greg Rolie retired. JC auditioned. Journey hired him. JC showed the instrumental to Steve Perry. He liked it and wrote the lyrics. The instrumental became Open Arms! 😃 What about John Waite? 🙄 3 years later, he wrote Missing You with country music songwriter Charles Sanford (who wrote for Stevie Nicks) and Mark Leonard. JW ain't missing Open Arms at all! L🤣L In 1987, Journey broke up. JC and JW reunited. They brought Ricky Phillips, Deen Castronovo and Neal Schon to form Bad English. 🇬🇧🇺🇸. Unfortunately, their last album was released 31 years ago. 🎂 They broke up. But JW got hits as a solo artist again 😃, and Journey reunited. But Steve Perry left again. 😖 Also, Ross Valory, Steve Smith, and Greg Rolie formed The Storm. They released their 1st album in the same year that Bad English released their last album. Suggested videos 📹1 Bad English plays Straight to Your Heart 2 John Waite performs Missing You. 3 The Storm performs I've Got a Whole Lot to Learn about Love.
I got to see journey in Atlantic city on their 20th aniversary tour I was disapointed that they had a different singer beings I traveled a 1,000 miles to go see them

Now you know why he was called “The Voice “. Not taking away from other performers of the same era but Steve was set apart. He WAS/IS Journey!
