Does this guy know everything? From linear algebra, to algorithmic analysis, to probability in statistics, Boolean algebra, differential equations, and now bio chemistry... He does videos for the material in almost all my classes.
Ok, it may be somewhat unlikely that the host/teacher/professor/ man speaking in this video will read this comment. However, if he does he should know that whenever I have a question about something I'm learning in college I almost ubiquitously check Kahn academy videos first. Nearly all the other videos from youtube always seem to come up short in either presentation or consistency in a range of topics. This simple format and the way this is presented is so friendly. So thanks.
Biology exam in less than an hour and thirty minutes. I have written all my own notes and decided "hey, I heard about these videos! Let me use them for a refresher." Excellent work! You make it very relatable, and that's exactly what I need - the bottomline without flowery talk that my professor gives. I also really love how clearly you speak - I'm in one of the university's libraries and left my headphones, but the transcript/subtitles are very clear without mistakes! I can still use these videos regardless of being in a library.
I love how everyone on this channel is really enthusiastic and loves what they do. The short moments when they start talking about how amazing something is actually make me excited.
This dude is a Saint. I use a lot of his vids for guidance throughout my studies due to poor professors; and I’m always finding myself excelling. Thank You
Dude, I just want to say you are F**king awesome! I am in a bio 100 for non-majors and my teacher treats us like we are finger painters. I am 31 with a double major in psyc. and philosophy, and it is all a breeze. Yet, this man works in analogies like tow trucks and water pumps which make it not only stupid but hard to remember. Thank you for making it clear - you kick ass!
I am currently in class 11. My biology teacher doesn't know anything. Your videos are helping me a lot. Your explanations and presentation are amazing. Hats off
Yes, it's true. The second half of my personal bio course was spent on explaining a lot about the cell, and the prof said that photosynthesis and cellular respiration was the most difficult part of the course. Much, much more in depth than I ever remember doing in HS.
I just read an article under the title "you receive what you give". The article is about "Salman Khan" owner of this channel and how he started this thing using Yahoo Doddle to explain math to his niece. He ended up getting support from Google and Bill Gets I really am impressed about this successful journey. ppl like you is what we need in this world.
Dude!! I freaking Love you... 2 hours in Bio Lecture and only 14 minutes here and I totally understand your version. Thank you so much. Your a life savor... Or a biology savor lol
hi, have been watching lots of these videos without my comment, just want to say thank you, I am going to do biology next year, your videos are very helpful.
I love your videos. My parents were glad that I had found you here on my own, because they were going to suggest you to me anyway. I'm so thankful that you took the time to do this for your family. You've helped out a lot more people than you thought you would, I suppose.
Thank God for you videos! My biology teacher sucks, and I haven't learned nor understood anything all year until now that I've watched your videos! Thanks again!
You Sir are the world's greatest teacher! You have taught more people than any professor at Yale or Oxford! 233.051.558 views on your videos? You should get a nobel prize or something!
Every term and topic my professor taught us in class you covered it and explained it so well. I was using my question review sheet as a guideline for these videos and you answered all the questions. You're the best!
Hello, I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now without putting a comment just until now. I just wanted to say thank you for making us understand stuff much easier compared to how our college professors teach us. I've watched you videos regarding cellular respiration until oxidative phosphorylation and it has been so much help in the Biochemistry subject course that I am currently taking. I just wish I've seen this video of Photosynthesis when I was taking up Botany as a subject course. Things would have gotten easier. My sincerest gratitudes :).
***** First, how on earth does it prove him? Second, there are people who believe that all this is fake and "God dun did it!". They're the idiots that I was referring to in the first comment.
***** A car proves the designer because we can see two crucial things that you can't see with the "creation of the world, the designer and the design process. Sal I've been watching your videos for a couple years now and your voice is no stranger to me but today was the first time I looked at your channel and saw what you look like.
study as you go, dont just wait for the test. it especially helps to read the chapter and take notes before you go over the notes in class, that way those notes just solidify the information you already learned on your own
Most people in comments : "My biology teacher sucks bla bla bla". I haven't come across even a single comment that actually appreciates the process and feels awestruck how the world is so perfectly designed.
I can't believe he made this video is so easy to understand. I listened to lectures in class and read for hours and still I did not have a fcking clue what photosynthesis was.
interesting to hear that dark reactions also occur during daytime, as they are dependent on the products from the light reactions phase. That means use and release of CO2 occurs in paralell. So I wonder what happens at night, when the light reaction phase stops, does the dark reaction phase also stop or just slow down? What is the share of dark reactions (dark phase activity or CO2 release) during daytime vs. nighttime?
Because the reaction itself doesn't not need light (or photons). True it needs the products from the light reaction, but the dark reactions do not NEED the light to occur... hope that helped.
Son is having a hard time in class. They are studying photosynthesis and he didn't even know it was about plants...Ty for vid. It's helping me help him.
Well... This equation is used when glucose is the substrate.. but the fact is apart from glucose there are many other substrates as well.. bdw its 6 co2
you will learn about photosynthesis in intro bio, AP/IB bio, freshman in college bio, and probably more classes including anything about plants or sometimes cell bio classes too
thanks khan, i am reading material that is older than me(22) and it's very confusing. Your videos help me out a lot and glad to see you helping others. keep it uppp!

Light enters the chloroplast in photosystem II and this removes electrons, to make up for this loss H2O is split into H+ and OH- and 4e, these electrons are pumped from carriers, meanwhile all the H+ in the thylakoid is taken out of the thylakoid due to is concentration gradient, however the movement of electrons moving provide energy allowing H+ to be pumped back in the thylakoid,( now in Photosystem 1) NADP+ + e= NADPH, ADP + inorganic phospate = ATP, co2,nadph, atp in the calvin cycle=carbs
Thank you Khan for making such important videos for generations and generations to come. But since not all of those who view ur videos are native English speakers, wouldn't you agree that making some videos showing the latin roots (prefix, suffixes, etc) would help them and the native english speakers as well remember those complicated biology terms by breaking them into pieces? That would help also with the GRE, SAT and TOEFL reading/verbal sections! Thanks Khan.. and Allah bless your soul :)
This video is good, but it perpetuates the misconception that photosynthesis exists to make food for animals. In fact, it is to make food for the organism that is undergoing photosynthesis. Something may or may not eat it.

He has a big platform which many teachers so that Khan Academy covers all topics in a very neat manner
yeah bro didnt you know? hes omniscent.
Man, Sal's a life saviour. He's helped me study the night before any test
Lol
Can we just appreciate how better he is at explaining photosynthesis than most of science major teachers?
And some people here on yt? >__>
Domingo Pachoco YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!
no I just can't
Lol, it's why i watch. So smooth and uncluttered delivery. And with terms and words students can relate to.

This guy’s hand writing with a mouse skills are amazing!
probably a stylus and a tablet though tbh
not a mouse, its a digital pen

Who could someone dislike this
These videos are the best
:)
They're usually disliked by idiots who would rather attribute such processes to God rather than learning how they really work.
Tom Craske I believe in both God has a hand in this and the science

Awesome! Again, you took something the textbooks make so boring and made it fun and interesting. Thanx a bunch
another good way to remember oxidation is:
LEO (losing electron oxidation) says GER (gaining electron reduction)
Leo says Ger
photosystem equation : 6CO² + 12 H²O --> (CH²O)n + 6O² +6H²O So but does not produce water out of the equation

I FREAKING LOVE KHANACADEMY!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! ^__^ YOU HAVE HELPED ME A LOT!
What about the equation 6h2o+co2+sunlight=c6 h12 o6+o2
For photosynthesis
Yep but you need a 6 in front of CO2
its 6CO2 + 12H2O + sunlight ------> C6H12O6 + 6H2O + 6O2
Thats carbon dioxide + water+ sunlight ---------> glucose + oxygen
Well... This equation is used when glucose is the substrate.. but the fact is apart from glucose there are many other substrates as well.. bdw its 6 co2
