Don't over look Skatts catching and route running ability too, But that 4th and 13th, was a horrible defensive play call. They called full blitz. stupid call even ASU coach agreed they called some stupid plays at the wrong time
I felt so bad for asu's quarterback Sam leavitt every passing play the poor guy was running for his life you really didn't have a chance to show you what he can do other than the fact that he did do a pretty good job of escaping. He was very upset after the game but he's he's freshman and has nothing to be ashamed of is performance
Yeah I mean our issue was ALWAYS going to be at the line. You’re asking former 4 stars and 3 stars to block a stupid rotation of depth at D-Line. He did more than enough at the end of the day the game went to overtime and it was an experienced QB vs a freshman. He’ll of a game and I’m super excited for the programs future
ASU fan here for 30 years, we are so proud of this team, proved we deserved to be there, proved games are not played on paper, Cam was as advertised, hes the real deal, we had many chances to win and fell short, congratulations to texas on advancing , good luck going forward, we will always love our Sundevils, \|/ fork em, god bless
in the 1997 rose bowl they played prevent defense and gave the bux the winning TD pass Germane to Boston. Dammed if u do and dammed if u dont. But yea prevent would have been the better call vs TX obviously now in hindsight.
disagree, it was the defense corner. How do you let him get behind you. That’s. ASU’s prevent defense is not good. I hate it. ASU’s % on the prevent is horrible. I’m okay with the blitz.
@ the receiver was hit blind side, it was not intentional but it’s he knocked him out. It needs to get called. I guess doing the right thing, is a tough thing
Q. Why can't every CFP be like this one? A. Because not every game will see the kicker from one team miss TWO game-winning field goals in the last 99 seconds of regulation.
Arizona State players making it such a big deal about the Non call on the possible targeting play against Texas… No one has said one word about the picture that shows on this video of Cam Skattebo “taunting” Texas after he threw his touchdown pass…No one has mentioned that!!! there are many many plays on the field that night, that we looked at in almost all of them by the officials, went to Arizona State. Nobody is talking about that either…so, STOP trying to make their loss on one non calk!! Lose like a man!
There’s stress and nervousness as a Texas Ex (as being a Michigan alum is for Rich). But, at this point, it’s like March Madness. Win and advance. The info from the insiders that I know of, there’s 2 things Quinn if focusing on. The next game. Then declaring for the draft.
Here a Wilcat fan but pulling for ASU to win! Sorry to me the missed opportunity’s in the red zone and yes I think the refs missed that 4th quarter targeting call but they missed calls both ways if they lost it was in the 2nd overtime even ASU coach said they could of done better with there play callcalling! Yeah they lose Scattebo but have every one back and their coach see how they do wish them well but I still root for my cats!
Missed call blah, blah, blah. ASU had the lead and Texas at 4th and 13. ASU then let Golden behind them, ASU blew it. The game was ASU's to win despite the "missed call"!! Get over it.
This is only the first year of the college football playoff with 12 teams. I knew they wouldn’t get it right the first time. All they need to do is set it up so that the conference winners don’t automatically get the top four seeds. But of course they would automatically qualify for the playoff. Boise State and Arizona State should not have been the number three and four seeds. And I am an Arizona state fan. But what a game against Texas. I was texting with my buddy in Arizona throughout the game. I live in Minnesota. And he was down on Arizona State when they were trailing by 16 points. I told him don’t worry I have a feeling they’re going to get back in this game somehow. And they did

The BIG12 has a greater understanding of wins and losses than you could possibly fathom. "You weep for cow high’s rankings and curse reality. You have that luxury. Cow high fan: "Did the game really go as badly for the cows as I think?" BIG12: "You're damn right it did!"
ASU was robbed w 1 minute to go, obviously. Who made that call, who decided to do that? Conversations on the headsets should be broadcast live. That was a financial crime.
Yeah Jeanty was soft that game but that was only one game he was responsible for his team to win much of Boise State games didn’t have as good as supporting cast as Scattebo did! But I also think that Scattebo should have been in contention for the Heisman trophy !
Texas showed they are the better team. It’s the playoffs. It’s survive and advance. We can’t have it both ways of everyone is upset on all these blowouts in the CFP, but people are also upset that Texas didn’t blow out ASU lol wut?
With zero conference champions left in the playoff, which one has been left more irrelevant by the expanded playoff - the regular season or conference championship games?
Better “team” not overall personnel lost. The inexplicable non targeting call more likely than not cost ASU win in regulation. Nobody on this planet can reasonably whether that was targeting. It raises the question “Was their ESPN influence on ref?” With $100M+ in ad rev on the line to keep the Texas brand, rather than ASU, in the tournament, it’s hard to not wonder. 🤔
So the hit on Bond was not targeting. How about the hold on the same No call play on both sides of the offensive line. Get over it. They had Texas 4 and 13 and blew it.
Why? Because life isn’t, and shouldn’t, be everything awesome, all the time. You’re going to see some amazing games and some not-so-amazing. You’re not winning an Olympic Gold Metal, then the grand prize of the lottery, AND gettin’ blown by somebody hot; every single day . I mean it’s cartoonish and unrealistic.
Looks like if you want a competitive college playoff game, you need two Big 12 teams, even if that means stealing one of them to give your conference some legitimacy.
Was a great game but it should have never made it to OT as ASU was clearly cheated with such a clear cut uncalled violation... even worse than the one that was missed for Texas that was at least, borderline.
Texas was “cheated" when a lineman was downfield in the end zone on an AZ State TD. There were multiple bad calls that impacted the outcome. But let’s focus on the amazing game. The effort put out be players on both sides. It was a fantastic game. Nobody was “cheated”. The outcome was impacted by bad officiating, but that happens in almost every game.
Let’s also not forget on the last TD from ASU the linemen suplexed Cam into the end zone which should have been a penalty erasing the TD and pushing them back 5 yards. Bad calls on both sides
I really am trying my best not to just sound like a homer or conspiracy guy but it really feels like Sark or someone at Texas pulls their punches for whatever reason. Cuz to start the game they explode with some great calls, then we never see those calls again & Texas can't move the football. Then when ASU ties it, suddenly Texas can march down the field for game winning field goals TWICE & were a competent kicker away from sealing it there. Then they get pressed in OT & Texas suddenly finds the endzone on THREE STRAIGHT PLAYS for 15 points & its wraps. Like Idk if Sark is just trusting his defense too much in & using it to not show their best play calls for what they hope is the next game or what the hell cuz when they had to have it ASU couldn't stop them yet they only had 3 TDs in regulation. It's super weird.
This game wouldn’t of happened in a 6 team playoff though, ASU never had the benefit teams like Texas and Ohio State had with early top10 rankings asu was 12
@@johaw105 yeah that is exactly what the SEC and BIG 10 want. Sorry not going to happen, and a Big 12 or Independent will win the CFP within 2 years. Bet me.
I liked both the no calls on targeting plays and I’m an ASU fan at the end of the day we got stuffed on 4th and goal and that was the game. We convert that touchdown and we win stuff happens. We are going to be super strong moving forward
As a Texas alumni and a fan of Rich. Thank you sir for giving Quinn a fare analysis.
Instant classic. Finally we get a good CFP game. Should be fun the rest of the way!
One good kicker away from no conversation
IMO you can’t blame a loss on the kicker or the refs! Just my opinion
Don't over look Skatts catching and route running ability too, But that 4th and 13th, was a horrible defensive play call. They called full blitz. stupid call even ASU coach agreed they called some stupid plays at the wrong time
It wasn't a bad call, but once they realized Texas adjusted, they needed to get out of it.

I can’t believe ASU blitzed like that on 4th and 13 in overtime, or how their safety left that Texas receiver wide open
in the 1997 rose bowl they played prevent defense and gave the bux the winning TD pass Germane to Boston. Dammed if u do and dammed if u dont. But yea prevent would have been the better call vs TX obviously now in hindsight.

agree not a good defensive call ..
the issue was we showed too early and they checked a recvr into protection. otherwise we get a free rusher.
@ the receiver was hit blind side, it was not intentional but it’s he knocked him out. It needs to get called. I guess doing the right thing, is a tough thing

This game and Penn state was phenomenal

A. Because not every game will see the kicker from one team miss TWO game-winning field goals in the last 99 seconds of regulation.
I go back further for a Skattebo lookalike: Jim Taylor, Bill Brown, and John Riggins, although Riggins was 6'2" and pretty fast.
Skatt kinda reminds me of Mike Alstott

The fact that targeting went to review and they didnt call it is crazy
So helmet to helmet ISN'T targeting. Got it.
Cam Skattebo is great qb!!!!
Watched Jeanty live in Phoenix...dude soft compared to Skatt. Boise should have never been in the CFP.

Refs don’t win titles, but clutch OT touchdowns do! Ewers proved who the better QB was. 🤣
he had an o-line, leavitt didn't. if not for the missed call asu almost certainly wins.
