Wish we could see Karl's whole performance. And his pedalling!
Thank you, KR, for sharing this.

The greatest organ fugue Bach ever wrote. The first I leaned in my teens. The parallel 6ths in the left hand I connect. Not separated. Too many separated notes here. And notes I want separated for phrasing are connected.

This must have been taken at Jaegersborg Church, Copenhagen at 1967.
    So rare and amazing indeed.

This is the Steinmeyer organ of the Markuskirche in Munich, where Richter was organist from 1951 till his death in 1981.
This was built in 1936 and is a modern organ, not a neo-baroque like the Marcussen organ.

Musical performance mystery question. Does anyone notice the soundtrack doesn't synchronize with the keyboard strokes seen on the video? The performance quality is very good, the soundtrack tonal quality is very similar to Karl Richter's Deutsche Gramophone recording of BWV-548 played on the Marcussen tracker action organ in Scandinavia. His performance of BWV-548 on the Marcussen organ is available for comparison on UA-cam.
The film does appear to show Richter playing BWV-548. However, additional keystrokes are seen, especially in his right hand near the conclusion. The notes are not heard on the soundtrack. Was the soundtrack on this video taken from his DG Marcussen organ recording and then superimposed over a separate film of Richter playing BWV-548 on another organ? If true the video illustrates his performance tempos of his DG audio recording and the film were nearly consistent. A superb energetic performance and a treat to be able to study Karl Richter's career here on UA-cam.

Thank you for your reply and providing information about the Richter "Legacy" video. What's interesting to observe is how closely Richter's keyboard technique seen on the video matches the soundtrack he recorded on another instrument. He found a tempo he liked for BWV-548 and played it consistently most of the time. Thankfully for us it's good the European media folks of his era recognized Richter's musicianship and captured many of his performances on film for future generations to study.

@@lucaogliari2912 Thank you for providing the information about the instrument Karl was playing on this video. Good to have a film of his playing the instrument in his church in Munich! I wish this recording technology had been around during the 18th century and the time of J.S. Bach :)

@@stevenschrier4207 However this is not the sound of the Steinmeyer organ. Someone put the audio of the Karl Richter's Deutsche Gramophone recording of BWV-548 played on the Marcussen in this clip.
You can find the original sound on the "Lagacy of Karl Richter", where this clip was taken.
Look at minutes 51:28 of the video below !!

His "impossible trill" at :52 is amazing!
But I connect the parallel sixths in the left hand. Do not like them separated.
How unfortunate, it seems, that photographers do not know there are pedal notes played with the feet.

Need to slow the video to see how Karl accomplishes the “impossible trill” in right hand.

Why only 1:07? Was this not originally the whole fugue?

Weiss jemand, ob das in der Münchner Musikhochschule aufgenommen wurde?
