    Truly brilliant Louise!
Always a great atmosphere on the ESR.
I loved that young lad's question!
You got some really great shots here.
I can see you doing another heritage railway in the future.
As you know I love filming on heritage railways - for me it is the whole package - the beautifully maintained stations, the smartly dressed volunteers, the nice cafes, the nostalgic package, as well as the steam trains of course.
You put this together very well - glad you had a really good day out here!
    Paul

Thank you Paul! It was my first visit to the ESR. It will not be my last!
Yes, I thought it was a really good question too.
I was so pleased with the shots that I got. The railway scenery and locos lent themselves to be being photographed and videoed.
I agree with your thoughts about Heritage railways. It really is about the whole package.
Thanks so much for your comment.

Oh my goodness what a fabulous video - this is a must for railway enthusiasts or non railway enthusiasts!!! What a fantastic attraction. I’m old enough to remember those old style carriages that used to take us to london in the 70s and 80s. Beautifully filmed and this is another place to visit in the future !

Thanks so much Alex!! It really is fantastic there!
😁 I am old enough to remember those style carriages too. Oh yes, I remember taking them to London too! No need for USB charging or plug sockets or wifi in the carriages back then 🤣
This was a real joy to film 🤗

Hi Louise, You made an excellent job here and your enjoyment was clear to see too.
I don't think I've seen much about this line but I have seen and read lots about David Shepherd. What a mix steam engines and Elephants!!
I inherited a love of steam from my father. One early memory I have is going to a meeting in Alton when the Mid Hants Railway was set up. I have a shareholders certificate to the value of 25p, I think!!
£10 to drive the engine is an absolute bargain!!
Great video well done. All the best!!

Thanks you David! Yes, I really enjoyed it so much!
Indeed it is such a mix. I must learn more about him. He seems like he was a very interesting guy.
That’s a lovely memory and so nice that you have the little shareholder certificate as a reminder.
Yes, I thought £10 was really good for the driving experience too! I might have to give it a go one day!
Thanks so much for the nice comments.

It looks this was a lovely spring day out with so much to experience. Great that you got to ride the trains and £10 to drive an engine is a bargain!
Always love a heritage railway - I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again but the sound and smell of steam is so calming. 😃

I loved the video Louise. It's a very interesting place. I have a friend who volunteers there. He took a group of walking friends to see some of the station that's not normally open to the public. I help to take a group to Willsbridge and Bitton station, near Keynsham. It's not as grand as Cranmore but quite enjoyable, even bumped into Paul from West Country Wanderings last month. 🙂

Just watched your lovely fascinating video of the Cranmore
East Somerset Steam Railway Gala Day, which me and a friend really enjoyed, it was such a surprise and so lovely to meet you, and so pleased you gave me a mention at the end of your interesting video - fame at last for me, having a mention on one of your videos, like you said louise it was a truly memorable day, with the special atmosphere, and everyone, especially the children, having a great day😊, looking forward to watching your walk from Torquay to Paignton, which used to be a favourite of mine and my late wife Heather's, you bring back so many happy memories for me at a time when I need and enjoy them, so please keep up on the good work, you never know we may bump into one another again on one of your enjoyable walks! many thanks martin😊

Great video Louise. I liked the way you did the voiceover when editing, giving us the history and other information. That's a good way to do it. 👏👏🙂🚂🚃🚃🚃

    • @SouthWestSundays
      @SouthWestSundays  5 місяців тому +1

Thank you Cathy! Pleased that that format works well. It’s sometimes easier to do it that way as I can tell a story more easily after the event once I have all the footage than trying to do it on the go. Often it’s filmed all out of order like this one was, so it is much easier to do the voice at home.
Thanks so much for your fab feedback!
