This is awful!! So many luxury buildings in this area do not live up to their name! Glad these tenants are standing up for their rights and rest in peace to the pregnant tenant.

Its unimaginable how some of those people are paying upwards of 3 grand a month to live in these conditions.
And this is not the only apartment building/complex like this.

They have legal remedies and are fully capable of terminating their lease. Never would live with this that long.

I've toured every apartment from Columbia to Rockville and 99% of the apartments are a nightmare.
Between that & the horrendous driving, Maryland ain't it.
Rodents, cheap rugs, strange people/passive aggressive people, the spirit is death via motor vehicle accident is a hard no for me.
    God bless, MD.

This seems to be an issue with a lot of apartments in the DMV area. Charge all this money but never keep their part of the bargain

Sounds like the system is working exactly as it should. Investors and the bottom line matter more than giving people a safe place to live.

These days, new means luxury. So even if the building and its amenities and fixtures etc are of inferior quality, as long as it was built in the last 20 years, its luxury.

So sorry to hear this. I have experienced a lot of similar issues in VA. After living in luxury apartments that were new yet falling apart, flooding, gayed but wheels getting stolen, and gates being broken never fixed, main entrance doors broken and never locking...i moved in the older communities. Then their prices went up. I finally bought a home though overpriced because i couldn't fathom paying $24k a year to live like that. Its only going to get worse. If I'm paying $2k a month for rent may as well get a mortgage.

They need to talk to a Contingency tenant lawyer. That'll get their attention. After this lawsuit the owners and property managers will want to settle and tenants should get all the rent money back plus more for the unlivable conditions of the apartments. It's called a class action lawsuit. Losing money is the only thing that gets the attention of these slumlords.

Not all countries have tenants rights. The United States does.

This looks like something old is new again. Isn’t this a tactic that landlords use to move Black folks out so they can move yt folks in?

That area hasn’t been white since the late 60s. That building WAS a luxury building then. I can assure you that whites won’t be returning which is fine with me.

Enclaves still the same and will always be the same. Ain't nothing going to change, people are still there suffering. You have to pay for a parking fee. You have to wait forever for the elevator, sometimes they cut the water off out of no where, it's just so many reasons why not to live there. I don't recommend any family to live here.

Moving is not so easy sometimes. There's the cost, the work, and finding somewhere else within your budget.
They should be able to do a class-action lawsuit against Enclave. The threat of money being taken makes people do what's supposed to be done.

Leasing companies charge $1000 or more if you break you lease.
The U.S. needs to do something about these landlords and leasing companies.

Those buildings are old! I lived there back in the early 90's. Even then the trash rooms smelled bad. No way should those be considered "luxury" apartments at this date. Maybe when they were first built but not now and they were built in 1965!
