REPAIR: Zodiac Baracuda MX8 - Getting Stuck, Moving Slowly or Going in Small Circles

Zodiac Barracuda MX8 Directional Control Replacement.
In this video I will show you how to solve the main three problems you will have with your Zodiac MX8 as it gets older. The unit here is 3 years old. I will show you how to fix your MX8 if it is going in small circles in the pool, getting stuck on the steps or in a corner and if it is moving very slowly even with very good suction.
Here are the parts you will need for this:
(1) Mx 8 Direction Control Device Side B R0524800
(1) Mx 8 Direction Control Device Side A R0524700
I bought my parts at the local pool store for $30 each, but you can find them on Amazon for much cheaper, if you are willing to wait.
The great thing about the MX8 is that it an easy cleaner to work on. It is pretty well engineered but it is a gear cleaner so the parts that drive it will wear out. These parts can cause it to not reverse, move slowly, and move in small or non existent circles.
In the video, I removed the engine, but this is not necessary. This part may need to be replaced if you find the MX8 Pool Cleaner is still moving slowly AFTER you replace the direction controls.

i like to buy the Tune up kit, replace all if not just the worn out parts, all the parts in the tune up kits are going to wear out sooner or later, so its best to just buy the tune up kit and keep the parts for later to replace

Nobody tells you that if the little rubber things in the engine housing is worn it sucks too much water and won't move. $5 part maybe but you have to buy the whole housing.
