There is actually another application to UV coating that I teased in the thumbnail but didn't mention in the video, and that is to make a hardened layer on top of core-corner magnet shells to add an extra level of defence against these magnets dislodging. For that I use a different resin (because I have also bought one that's more prone to fingerprints and isn't as shiny). I think the topcoat works too, it's just too precious to waste on something that's not even visible when the cube is assembled.
