It is great that this horse's hoof could be repaired, even by these primitive methods. It is a disgrace that the horse's owner took so long to do anything about the problem.

Why don’t these people use modern methods of trimming hooves its much quicker and less stress on the animals?
The answer is simple. Money. This is a rural farming area and things are done on a very basic level.
Kindness does not cost, a gentle calming hand to relax the gelding and sharpened primitive tools would ease the discomfort and anxiety by 70%. I respect your totally realistic comment but there are things that they could do to make it better. Said in good faith and humanity.
I agree. If they have money to buy a digital camera and internet access to post it online, they have money for better tools. And someone should whip those people twice for every time they which these animals for responding to pain!

This system of hoof trimming is straight out of the Middle Ages. This so called master needs serious retraining to learn proper and safe ferrier work. Much of what he is doing is actually harming the animals. The level of cruelty towards these poor animals is beyond words.
I have written the same complaints but as soon as they see your comment they erase it. Any open discussion about what they are doing gets quickly erased

I disagree. He is very well trained in the form of training he received in trimming and repair and repair of hooves. Byron Guest it has nothing to do with ability to pay. Even if poor farmers doesn't mean that their animals should be subject to barbaric methods. It is not normal, safe nor healthy to be cutting the hoof to the point of bleeding. It is however damaging and now the internal structures of the hoof are exposed to dangerous pathogens from the soil. Once an infection gets inside the coffin bone that's the end of the horse

It's difficult watching these videos of animal abuse! The horse in this video is suffering from malnutrition and gross neglect as evidenced by the hoof issues. The horses and donkeys in these videos are being subjected to abuse thru crude tools and crude repair methods.

The hooves bleed because your cutting to much and too close to the coffin bone. That will cause permanent damage and lameness. Get the proper tools specifically made for horses and watch some videos that show how to trim the right way.
Says the American that only knows what they have seen from other videos. An overgrown hoof can bleed for many reasons. Cutting too close to something doesn't automatically mean that something else will happen. That horses 🐎 hoof will be fine.
It could be a puncture wound in there or a granulation of tissue after an injury but I don’t agree with the method of manner the farrier is treating this poor gelding. I’m not speaking from video education but from owning 5 event horses.
Brusing and stress can cause blood in the hoof tissue. It seems to me he is a long way from the coffin or any live tissue.

Ever seen one of the "sored" Tennessee Walking horses? They are down in the stall all the time because of the pain inflicted upon them.
This is barbarous torture. Don't shoot these people: chop their toes off bit by bit while they are tied to a damn tree or hog tied on the ground in cuffs and restraints. Show no mercy as they show none.

I can not believe the barbaric way to do this, that poor horse you did not say anything about a shot or some kind of medication to ease the pain and stress on this poor animal. Shame on this person an how he trimmed the hoof of this horse, why is this not reported to the human society or the government. I am amazed and disgusted by this. Have never seen such blatant abuse!!! Maybe that fellow is doing his best but his tx of that first horse was sickening..the poor horse was in extreme pain..was so hog tied it finally just collapsed! I can only imagine how many others are tx this way..it is criminal!!!!

Für ihn war es die einzige Möglichkeit dem Pferd zu helfen.
Die Besitzer konnten oder wollten das Geld für den Tierarzt nicht ausgeben, der das Pferd mit Schmerzmittel und Narkose ruhig gestellt hätte. Das Pferd hatte hinterher weniger Schmerzen und eine Chance zu überleben.
Die Besitzer des Pferdes hätten es nicht so weit kommen lassen dürfen.

Aca no se rescato, acá solo le están limpiando sus cascos, ya que está maltratado debido a que sus cascos no están bien cuidados por que tampoco es el debido cuidado que estas personas les dan. Solo mire un video del mantenimiento de los cascos equinos; y mirarás las herramientas adecuadas y la forma como ellos se quedan quietos. Esto va con un debido aprendizaje. Observa también en esta misma página cómo maltratan a los pobres burritos.
Here he was not rescued, here they are only cleaning his helmets, since he is mistreated because his helmets are not well cared for because it is not the proper care that these people give them. Just watch a video of equine hoof maintenance; and you will look at the right tools and the way they stay put. This goes with due learning. It certainly would....if that particular tool is available and near electrical outlets. Power tools are, however, very dangerous in inexperienced hands. This is better than the previous owner. They are rescued horses.

Not buying that "but they are poor farmers!" excuse. Not one bit. For a great deal less money then they have spent to show off PhD level torture skills, they could have a set of decent farrier's tools. Not a great expense especially when compared to the value of an animal one needs to earn a living!
