OMG what a face. What a face. Perfection, of course. But the expression too. The intensity in the gaze. Those bags under the eyes. The impossible cheekbones. And something else that's there, absolutely nameless. A touching aloofness. Boy/man. Real, unreal. He looked like nobody else. Unclassifiable.

    • @sharonzimmerman5558

Yes.. that "absolutely nameless " thing you refer to.. I have been trying to figure out a name for it, myself. Haven't found it yet. I just know that nobody has even come close to having it. Belongs only to James Dean. Guess that's why he's still an inspiration to generation after generation.

@@sharonzimmerman5558 the word I would use to describe him is ethereal. That fragility looks like he could almost break. I find him emotionally draining to watch - I experience what he experiences through his acting. He's an American original - one for the ages.

You forgot to mention something that I noticed no one else ever mentions: his absolutely perfect nose. That’s what gives him perfection. His profile, his “look”. If his nose was crooked or had a bump , it’d make a big difference.

Oh, his figure at 3:54. He certainly filled out nicely from the days when he first got into acting and wasn't able to eat much. He was such a lovely looking creature. He dressed so flatteringly.

Beautiful face absolutely destroyed by the perpetual cigarette dangling from his mouth!
I read that he was horribly near-sighted and couldn't see an inch in front of him.
James struggled to survive at the level he chose to live and died in the pantheon of great men!

According to Rolf Wütherich, James Dean was a very well-behaved driver on the road. The speeding ticket was misreported and exaggerated, because Dean was fined for going just 5 mph over the speed limit. Dean had the right of way, so he was innocent.

Brilliant Actor but he was interested in racing and photography and directing and writing! Who knows where he would have gone with his instincts and talents. I think he would have gone on to write and direct and even star in his own movies kind of like Woody Allen did, only in LA. We lost a Giant when he died. RIP

@LilyNoelleArt No..an actor's job isnt to create a persona for themselves (which surely by definition would be false or phoney), it's to create a character, mostly using someone else's words, in a play or film. James Dean DID create a persona for himself..the lonely, misunderstood lost boy wandering the mean streets of New York looking for work, love and affection..all false, all "phoney". Self-obsessed, insensitive to other people's feeling and narcissistic..much closer to the truth.

+Anna Comloski One of Al Pacino's biggest acting influences was James Dean...just sayin. The fact that he only made three films and became that famous should tell you just how truly great of an actor he was.

Just think about it, the majority of actors have copied his style and acting techniques. He’s from the 1950s which shows how ahead of time he was.

There's four legends that live on . James Dean. Elvis. Marilyn Monroe. Bob Marley. They ware different .They set trends that young generations still follow to this day . But taxi driver & scareface are classics .

Those guys are great, and two of my favorites. The thing is, they didn't get their lives snuffed out at age 24, fortunately. Either actor would tout Dean's acting skills, and have done.
