Okay, so my interpretation of this is that the figure and the bird are two friends who are traveling and exploring the world. One day they end up somewhere comfortable and nice, and end up staying a while. Soon though, they notice the tree, symbolizing that they've put down roots in the place. While it's a good place, and the friends both like it, they want to keep exploring. So the figure eats the tree, symbolizing keeping the memories of the place special and safe inside them, while being able to overcome their fear of leaving the safety and comfort of the place they've come to love. The friends set out on their journey of exploration again, while the camera pans up to show all the other travelers who put down roots and then were too scared to uproot themselves again for the unknown.

I didnt quite get it at first as i looked up the first half, but once I looked up the second half to see better results i was hit by something i wish i had been told growing up. Tear soup is a childrens book that talks about dealing with depression that feels like has been forgotten. I really recommend listening to the audio book on here for in those 15 minutes it really changed me.

Even if it took this long for this video to appear on my recommended section, I'm so very glad it finally did. It's been quite a while since the last time I saw such a mesmerizing and beautiful video.
I like this. What it makes me think of is that the lyrics are saying there are many stories you can learn from and the visuals tell a story of how as you go through life you accumulate lots of those specs of light that could be ideas or thoughts or something like that, and they could be positive or negative but the further you go the more of them seem to follow. And sometimes you have one of the thoughts that sprouts into something bigger that stops you from continuing to move in the direction you were going, and you can’t shove it aside or just pull it out, the only way to keep moving forward is to accept it as part of yourself or else it will continue to spiral out of control and you‘ll become stuck on that one thing
I don’t know what the creator had in mind for this but my personal head cannon is that the monster was cursed to continue this for eternity. The little white lights actually really like him so they try to end his sadness by stopping the boat, but since the monster is cursed, he gets sort of possessed and has to keep going any way possible. Any way including self-sacrifice.
