Genius Fishing Method

  • Casting, reeling, and tossing the fish off the hook all happen seamlessly in just a few seconds. his thrilling fishing method is called "Ippon Zuri" in japan. The concept is simple, First, the captain needs to locate the tuna school. Then, they steer the boat towards the school and scatter sardines, which tuna love. The surrounding water is continuously sprayed to confuse the tuna, making them believe there's a large group of sardines, increasing their appetite. At this point, the tuna are so disoriented that they can’t distinguish between food and the hook. The automatic unhooking happens because they use L-shaped hooks without barbs instead of the usual U-shaped hooks

These are bonitos not tuna, and for those who are concerned they are not going extinct any time soon. This is a sustainable method of fishing used in Japan used for a few hundred years now, and using this method instead of nets have been great for keeping the population of bonitos up. Bonitos are one of the main sources of protein for Japanese people in Japan as well as being used for making dried bonitos which are and have been one of the basics for making umami rich broth.

As effecient as this method is they NEVER catch every fish in the school. Purse net fishing, on the other hand, takes every fish, leaving none to replenish the stocks. Nets, particularly purse scenes should be outlawed or Severely restricted to give the fish stocks time to rebuild their numbers.
