Go to salvation army and find a bigger Pyrex dish. It's me I'm back. I've been recovering from a broken back. A bigger dish to fit that oval piece into would be far safe than using what you are encase a gust of wind etc

hey!!! welcome back. Sorry about your back. It is true ... I had it balanced pretty poorly ... and balanced solids over acid is not a plan ... it is an inevitable problem. I was going to grind it into 4 pieces ... then I decided to just start and see if I needed to cut it. I got it done, but I may have gotten lucky that the storm did not knock it over. I am going to try some pins in a copper basket soon. What I need is a deeper dish for that one. Who knows. Glad you are back my friend.

What voltage and amperage were you running? Most I've seen use 12V at ~ 3.5 amps. When the amps drop, the gold is stripped. Also, the bubbling diminishes. Save the 1st rinse water bath as it will contain some acid and gold. An old PC power supply with a potentiometer makes a good stripping power source.

I used a 5V 2.0A USB wall plug and some usb gator clips. Simple and easy to store. Not so simple to alter. I could find a power supply … I have plenty to pick from :)

@badideametals Interesting, your little power supply works well. I bet it was a challenge to fit those alligator clips to the USB lead wire. Trying to learn what works best here. Water laced with table salt for an electrolyte or sulfuric acid? Novel idea using plates from the cell of a lead acid battery. I will rewatch your video to make sure I didn't overlook any details.

Sulfuric acid is cheap and you can buy it in most stores. Usually a liter or so for $10

yup ... The bottle I used here was $9.50 ... spot on with the $10 :)

If that really is what you think it will be a alloy of metals

It probably is. I can have someone do a composition study on it. I am guessing it is part steel to keep it's shape.

100% - will be a super alloy so if someone you know can do LIBS or XRF a refiner would buy that i reckon - if have a bunch - def not cheap alloys
