- The cast of STARGATE ATLANTIS had loads of fun on the show's set, often teasing each other like siblings. In this conversation actor Paul McGillion (who played Dr. Carson Beckett on SGA) tells us the hilarious story of the time he and co-star Jason Momoa ("Ronon Dex") pranked a very pregnant Rachel Luttrell ("Teyla Emmagan").
Paul also answers fan questions, starting with Carson's beloved "wee baby turtles" on the show ... and all the gifts that Paul got from fans over the years as a result. And finally he shares his advice for young actors who are just starting out in the business.

Dr. Carson Beckett was the best doctor!! I honestly teared up when the explosion took him from us, I look over and my wife is in tears as well... Dr. Beckett is awesome!!!
yea i dont remember ever crying.......... but very sad and pissed they killed him off. i liked his sense of humor.

I really loved his wholesome character and he doesn't seem to be too far from what he portrayed in the show. 10/10 any day
Paul is wonderful as Dr. Beckett. He really has the Scottish brogue down! I felt so sorry for him when Dr. Keller wanted him to go into the stasis pod. God bless and keep Paul safe.

Wow. I learned so much watching these videos. A) Paul isn't scottish/doesn't really talk like his character. I had no idea. B) Rachel is a SINGER. Wow. Again, I had no idea
Paul looks wonderful. Really ageing well.his character was so adorable.
The other day I was watching the SG-1 episode The Torment of Tantalus and realised he played Ernest in 1945!
I was so mad when they killed his character off. Glad they brought it back, sort of. It was a fantastic episode though one of the few times I am not ashamed to admit I shed a tear. That one and the one wear Rodney was getting dementia.
That dementia acting is so horribly good portraied....
I loved the show and my favourite characters were Rodney and Beckett the humour between them was amazing.

I'm glad he talked about his audition for Scotty on the new Star Trek because that was my question to him but he indirectly answered it while talking in general which is great! The prank he pulled on Rachel reminded me of an old roommate who thought she was Jennifer Lopez but I had to tell them they couldn't afford her plus Rachel is a much better actress and singer.😉

That's the mark of a good actor, not knowing what their real voice sounds like.
Apparently he was born in Scotland, but moved to Canada at age 2. Then back to Scotland for some amount of time as an early teenager. So his in-show accent is legitimate, but not really his own.
Yeah he fooled the heck out of me dam...lol
Maybe one day we would be so lucky that SG1 and Atlantis come back on our screen

It was weird listening to Paul, for the first few minutes his real accent sounded bizarre untill he started talking about whiskey 😁

I went thru all 5 stages of loss for real when becket blowed up. When i heard Rrrrroooddeny again , I felt so betrayed and hated the writers for torturing me. But i was elated to have him back.

i want stargate back so bad. the books that take place after season 5 were amazing and really show they could of wrapped up almost every major storyline in the pegasus if they were just given one more season. Instead syfy gave us the SGU abomination.
What triggers me, is that the Universe setting with the Destiny stuff etc is awesome. Just the charakters..... I hate them all. Only good/acceptable charakters are Eli, he is great, Rush and Riley. The rest are behaving like buthurt toxic teenagers, or todays generic internet trolls.
I would have loved to see Universe with Zelenka, Lorne, Beckett clone as part of main cast. Eli and Riley as bonus, maybe also Rush. And Col. Reynolds as Lead person.
@@fleisch4809 ill agree the premise was good. i actually felt bad for Eli i felt his character he totally gets friendzoned by that senator daughter, even though scott already was hooking up with sgt big tits. it got a little better when eli got with the lucian redhead hotty but then she gets killed totally ruining that whole setup. the only character i liked was Greer he was actualyl funny in some parts. but everyone else was either a meh or just god awful. the biggest part of sga and sg1 was how not only were the core 4 the best characters in the show but there was multiple backgrond characters that were great and you loved when they showed up. the writers of sgu were just terrible and they changed the working formula from the first two series.
@@GreenDragonReviews sgu is still a nice sci Fi show for todays standards if you compare it to stuff like expanse. This stuff seems to be trendy now, having assholes as characters.
But as Stargate series, sgu is weak
@@fleisch4809 very weak. it took me forever to finish it cause. it was just boring dialogue. uninteresting planets, more boring dialogue, i mean i think the only episode i actually liked and felt like a stargate episode was the novus planet episode. i just realy didnt care about if any of these people died. If they ever had anything good happen it never lasted long. like between all the supplies from the 2nd destiny and novus they should of at least had Destiny to at least half working capacity. One thing they did bring over from the stargate tv series is the writers annoying habit to always get rid of any advantage they had within next episode. i hated that. oh a new super weapon sorry no longer effective two episodes later, or a zpm that is full drained 3 episodes later. same with sgu except they literally have like a thousand bad things and maybe 2 good things and those two things never seem to do anygood. that is bad writing if they keep getting rid of any advantages the good guys get.
@@GreenDragonReviews ah yes, you just remembered me at the loss of the Orion in sga..... And yeah sgu was weak, but in my opinion the second season got a bit better. The last episodes made them look more as a team and made hope for a more pleasant environment after a little time skip. But nah, then its getting cancelled.... I really would have liked to see more of the natak and those God tier aliens
for the person asking for acting tips. i 100% agree with Paul, i would add youtube to that mix. I have seen a few under 30k sub channels do 5 min independant star wars films, and get 3+mil views.
this week seen Darth maul short film, 100% actor dressed up etc again under 30k sub channel and i forget the views but 500k or so and growing quickly. Find a topic ur into, make ur own short film voice act or whatever. if its good it will be shared. you build on those. and ofc as Paul says now u got something u can on film to share with agents etc.
