lol @ the few people in the comments thinking that this run was too good to be a first attempt when I posted a screenshot of this hunt's kill screen just ~10 minutes after the quest was released. If you want to see a really good run that took several attempts and lots of practice check out this video by a buddy of mine, Hybris. He defeated Arch Tempered Kirin with Hammer in 4'36 without mantles and cat: ua-cam.com/video/_3DIiun2XQM/v-deo.html
IDK how they couldnt believe it was your first attempt. Shoot I think you could have done it in 2 minutes or less. You played it so safe and missed some hits too, easily believable it was your first attempt.
Canta I just wanted to say thank you. I was always interested in the mh franchise but you're the one that got me playing. The way you dominate capcom's creations has to be considered a form of art
It has a decent amount of slots and level 5 thunder atk 2 marathon runner and 3 blight res and 3 free elem/ammo up edit: and you can get the spring blossom set as layered armour for 2 kirin tickets
Bruh, I've killed him twice with insect glaive. 20-25 minutes both times, died once both time. If not for temporal mantle this would be impossible for me.. Having said that: I watched your strategy very closely, hit face and roll, hit face and roll... I've never had an easier time fighting Kirin since watching this. Thank you, sir, for this video!
Slow and hard hitting weapons are best for fighting kirin. Weapons that need to stay on the target most of the time are the hardest to kill kirin with. Ive had best results with GS, HM and i think HH would also be really good for this. GS is definitly easiest because you need to hit once but hard and you have more range than hammer. Hammer has KO damage to the head (you should be hitting kirin only in the head to be honest) so its slightly better for speedruns or if you just want to kill him faster. Draw crit build for GS is preety easy to use on kirin so i reccomend that.
The ones I liked the most were Atelier Shallie - Flying Clouds, Drifting Haze (Sand Dragon Battle) & the Blue Reflection Tracks. Here's a link to the request playlist: beta.nightbot.tv/t/cantaperme92/song_requests/playlist
Think of it as brushing off stuck chunks of monster flesh that are softening the blows. At least, that's how i think about it because why else would one "sharpen" a blunt weapon?
Qwert another idiot trying to feel special because hes an og that hates the game. I’ve been playing since 2006, and it is not the most “brain dead easy game” to exist, and it is not bad at all.
I'm just passing by here to say thank you. This was the very first MHW video I ever watched (I was reading a SAO Fanfiction that mentioned Kirin, so it got me interested), and today I was finally able to beat AT Kirin (on my first try! though it did take me 18 minutes, and I did die once). I don't use hammer (bow 4 laifu), but still, I would never ever have played this amazing game if I had not watched this very video. Thank you so much!!
evidence of confidence, the mad man that went full offensive build. you sir... are something else :D (this also proves it doesn't matter how long you have played the game, cause I have been playing since mhp2 and im nowhere, NOWHERE, close to being this good)
This was an awesome run. My favorite weapon, a sick build, and you completed destroyed Kirin. I had to look back and make sure the title said "Arch Tempered".
Top notch content Canta. U the beast. It’s me Canta, Joey (the one mistook your emotes as tohou ones yesterday) my first hammer run was 12 minuets with three cart, very painful, so praise the palico insurance XD
It's ridiculous how skilled you are with all the weapons. Distance judgement on all the hammer attacks is perfect and the wake up @7:40 I have never seen before. Most people do the level 3 charge attack. Thanks for the vid. Please post more TA Switch axe gameplay it's really hard to find and very educational.
What I think is the most impressive is the way Canta mastered the game and dominate it, he know what is going on in every situation and how to deal whith it It's Amazing
Arch-tempered Kirin seems to be just another event mon that's just overall buffed and shiny (like golden pickle), the AI and attacks didn't seem different to me. Apart from taking longer to kill, I don't believe A.T mons will pose much of threat to hunters familiar with their move patterns as well as environmental exploits, oh well at least the gamma armour sets are more than worth it (especially for those who've gotten lucky with decor RNG).
Andre Stewart So true almost beat on my first try with my sleep US build. How I died was I got paralyzed then stunned then one shot. Yeah but otherwise pretty easy.
+TheChief Yeah, hypers were interesting at least, while (arch-)Tempered just have better attack and hp... Hypers had : - attacks changing of rythm - strong special charged attacks - do not get tired this on top of the "traditional" stats boost, and at least, all stats are buffed, not just one or two...
Were there actually new attacks with this Kirin because I was killing him earlier and didn’t notice new attacks at all. I thought arch tempered monsters were supposed to have new attacks, patterns etc. Isnt that what they said on the dev stream.
Quick minitip for climbing: doing the dash up with A or X, then letting your character do the little lunge from holding sprint, then the dash again, and repeating that is the fastest way to climb
charles ahweyevu yes, but u need some skills to be op: Ammo up lvl 3 Weakness exploit lvl 3 Attack up lvl 3 or more Bonus attack up with full HP lvl 3 This skills are priority. You can only use lunastra(xeno) lbg for this build. It has free shot skill so u can spam slicing shot a lot. Good luck and sorry for my english.
What a letdown that it's just a tankier Kirin with more attack, similar to normal tempered monsters.. I wish these things would have multiplayer hp like past game monsters so there would be incentive to go tag with people to take these out. Oh well, got my 5 tickets and I'm not playing for a week or two again lol But Canta... nice run, as always ;D It took me 11 mins first run and then second run was 10
Welp, if it lasts 10 min with a painful runaway (that glorious aim of yours 6:32) I guess you could easily sub 5 if there was a way to prevent it from running, but oh well, this is just a first attempt! PD: There's something stupidly funny in the way Kirin walks on walls ConcernDoge
Wait, does the third/fourth hit (the upswing) of the hammer's combo do more damage than the end of charged brutal big bang? Curious because Canta used it to wake up Kirin which I've never seen.
He's just like regular Kirin with a larger health pool. He hits a lot harder too but I rarely get hit by him anyway so that part doesn't effect me much. The extra damage needed to take him down does though.
They could have re-colored rathalos and adapt the Dreadking moveset, along with the dreadking armor... but no, they made kirin shinier and made it more hyper.
Elliepopcorn if you think the dreadkng rathalos is ‘just a recolor’ but tankier, then you’ve not fought it. My point is that this arch-tempered monster is the laziest thing they could have done.
I totally agree that they should stop with the asenine 'upgrades...' MH4 and MHX survived just fine without constant 'upgrades' before their respective G-versions and did just fine... It makes me wonder why the devs think that event quests and bleh difficulty adjustments are good ideas to make the games last longer... The game took over 5 years to develop and yet MHW looks like the devs cut corners wherever they could, including the post-release support (armors, weapons and music taking most cuts). The deviant system from MHG/X has its issues, but at least there was a good enough reason to hunt the endgame monsters over and over again... I think bringing the dreadking, or the silver, rathalos in would be better 'lazy' additions than this 'arch-tempered' concept they've introduced now. Different movesets and better rewards would go a long way. :D
If you look at the leaks back a few months ago, we knew about lunastra and kulve taroth (aka treasure dragon). One thing that wasn't there was arch tempered monsters. Something tells me this is something to add more content and keep players happy while they work on something bigger. Exactly what? I'm sure we will find out next week.
Beautiful hunt. I might try speedrunning it too even though I'm very new to speedrunning and suck but I wish you luck. *Not like you need any with your skills*
Great run despite that being the most uncooperative tank of a Kirin I've ever seen! I'm just kind of pissed that they're stat-barring elders before they even get a decent roster of monsters from the older games (that anybody actually likes), or new ones that are genuinely different and fun to fight.
Kirin has aprox 14k health At 9.6k of damage taken drops the first pod And about 1.5k more is goes to its nest and we all now its pretty easy doing 4k of damage So now y'all know It has more health than the original tempered Kirin and obviously more attack
I must say I’m not really that impressed with these arch tempered monsters. While the gear may be great the monsters themselves barley offer anything new besides buffed attacks and HP? Thought the hunts would be radically different in a way.
Ray Blade Yeah thats very disappointing. Capcom should at least beef the AI and multiply their movesets. Because as it stands we’re essentially hunting the exact same monsters but now their HP sponges.
PuNanii Senpai im not sure if this is new but he did a long jump backwards and he absolutely refuses to stop trying to impale with his horn. Im patrolling on reddit and someone said he has a new attack in multiplayer but im not bothered enough to check since everyone will die anyways.
Ray Blade lol Yeah I use lance so I tried soloing him while steadily blocking his attacks to see whats new and so far all I’ve come to notice is that he summons a few more lightning bolts and they cover more area? As far as the back hop I haven’t noticed anything significantly different about it other than its buffed attack. But he seems to be the exact same tbh. But Ill check reddit as well.
PuNanii Senpai Exactly, at least frenzied mons not only aesthetically changed but also got new moves and were more aggressive but tempered mons just hit even harder and arch-temp have more HP?. Like a wise man once said "it doesn't matter how physically powerful you become, it means nothing if you can't hit your opponent and that said opponent already knows all your attacks".
I honestly commend you for this feat, I cannot do this with a melee if they paid me, It is completely impossible, I go with fire bow and confortably in distance. Gotta try this Arch Tempered thing tho.
Man, if I hadn’t have watched this right before I first tried I would most definitely have gotten curbstomped. For some reason going at Kirin with hammer never crossed my mind before.
lol @ the few people in the comments thinking that this run was too good to be a first attempt when I posted a screenshot of this hunt's kill screen just ~10 minutes after the quest was released.

CantaPerMe Since he used a different one which do you think is better diablos, deviljho, Or empress styx?
IDK how they couldnt believe it was your first attempt. Shoot I think you could have done it in 2 minutes or less. You played it so safe and missed some hits too, easily believable it was your first attempt.
I'm glad your still active in this game, taught me a lot on mh4 thanks
No shit, it's not like I had plenty of regular and tempered Kirins to practice on
Joe Iracheta boy you can hunt regular kirin before AT
My first encounter went VERY differently
Canta I just wanted to say thank you. I was always interested in the mh franchise but you're the one that got me playing. The way you dominate capcom's creations has to be considered a form of art
King Ty What's the armor skill difference from the regular kirin?
Phazon Arrancar I'm not sure as I have yet to fight him
It has a decent amount of slots and level 5 thunder atk 2 marathon runner and 3 blight res and 3 free elem/ammo up
edit: and you can get the spring blossom set as layered armour for 2 kirin tickets
The roll is an animation cancel and a dodge

AryuKoryu ey man, toss me that sauce.

Anyone else still bothered by the fact that you have to sharpen your hammer
Monster hunter logic
It's Monster Hunter.
After seeing my character fish out a Plesioth I accepted the logic and carried on. :)
Think of it as brushing off stuck chunks of monster flesh that are softening the blows. At least, that's how i think about it because why else would one "sharpen" a blunt weapon?
The hammers have sharp edges, dont they?
Hammers have edges and points.
Fortunately Canta is not a beta-tester for their new monsters. Otherwise this game would be unplayable 😂
LMAO
Qwert another idiot trying to feel special because hes an og that hates the game. I’ve been playing since 2006, and it is not the most “brain dead easy game” to exist, and it is not bad at all.
stanfoo I'm not sure how much room you have to talk about intelligence if you had any trouble with World at all
Found another idiotic elitist, who thinks his silly opinion is a fact.
Imagine being this dumb, and getting mad at "elitists" instead of getting gud
I will steal that way of waking up monsters
so dank
Sporepuff OP lol
TheLast Esper right the "hardest" monster in game got confused by a sporepuff and Canta seized the opportunity with his lightning fast reflexes lol
George Tucker I'm pretty sure tempered Deviljho is the harder monster in the game lol
TheLast Esper Arch-tempered Deviljho would be amazing
Liam Vonz I need it rn tbh
Well I didn't actually mean this was the hardest but being the first arch tempered monster you'd think it would be
**Electricity pun because my originality is unlimited**
Metal Gear Canta: Tactical Spores Usage
7:40 THIS IS COMPLETELY NEW TO ME! I always thought your supposed to wake up with the slam on the 3rd charge attack.
I'm just passing by here to say thank you. i dont quite get why would someone unlike this solo run... damn!!! your hunt always amazes me Canta 😍😍😍

The jump at 6:32. Uhhhhhhhh

Skipped to this. Not disappointed.

When two gods cross each other
Chardzard but one is getting his was kicked xD
I mean ass...darn autocorrect!!
His movement’s looking a little *static*
Draco XD you stop it right now! Lmao
Jon Jon no, it’s shocking to me that no one else said anything :)
If you aren't already a dad, you'd make for a good one... I hate you so much
Jon Jon im almost an adult but not quite lol. Someone out there appreciates my jokes :(
You have to start somewhere :/
Top notch content Canta. U the beast.
It’s me Canta, Joey (the one mistook your emotes as tohou ones yesterday) my first hammer run was 12 minuets with three cart, very painful, so praise the palico insurance XD
That part where You're swinging on your rope and land that massive hit was beautiful!

As a hammer main, I like your hammer play. Charge attack level 2 and 3 are always useful. Excellent play.
What I think is the most impressive is the way Canta mastered the game and dominate it, he know what is going on in every situation and how to deal whith it
It's Amazing
This "Arch-Tempered" Kirin thing *shocked* me.
I'm not sorry.
The Enchanted >:(
I like that lol
Your comment made me Jolt with disgust
This is a "strikingly" unfunny comment.
Dude you are “kiring” my mood
Arch-tempered Kirin seems to be just another event mon that's just overall buffed and shiny (like golden pickle), the AI and attacks didn't seem different to me.

I dk bounce Easyer harder to brake faster.. May use his killer move more often... Get use to flash pods and other blight.. There are diferences
Nicely done my dude!
I swear you're the most celebrated hunter I've ever seen in all MH games ❤
Canta the god, back at it again.
wow! that jump! your accuracy mr. canta sir!!!
That was such an incredibly clean run it defies imagination.
Woe. You always make it seem so easy. Awesome run.
Man, this arch-tempered Kirin is such a pain in the arse!
Good on you mate you seem to know your hammer well. And you even did it without any cheese. Gg.
That horn break was LEGENDARY!
I did saw a couple new set of patterns and moves. Not enough to make a huge difference but he does have them.
This was so beautiful to watch.
You make the hammer look so effortless and fun.
You did something no hammerbro could do, well done!
Damn!, it looks like a turf war between Gods
Hyper Kirin
MaestroNox pretty much
Capcom: No these are arch tempered, totally different.
+TheChief
Yeah, hypers were interesting at least, while (arch-)Tempered just have better attack and hp...
Hypers had :
- attacks changing of rythm
- strong special charged attacks
- do not get tired
this on top of the "traditional" stats boost, and at least, all stats are buffed, not just one or two...
MaestroNox whats ur build
Hyper kutku > arch tempered Kirin
Those consecutive hammers to the head was incredibly satisfying to watch.
Were there actually new attacks with this Kirin because I was killing him earlier and didn’t notice new attacks at all. I thought arch tempered monsters were supposed to have new attacks, patterns etc. Isnt that what they said on the dev stream.

Beat my first in 7:42 using lunastra LBG and slicing shot! Second one in 6:30 using rath LBG slicing with 45% base affinity and atk focused set!
Mars Fab me 2 !! Lunastra lbg (xeno) with slicing shot is too op!
Seriously? Slicing is a thing again?
charles ahweyevu yes, but u need some skills to be op:
Ammo up lvl 3
Weakness exploit lvl 3

Bonus attack up with full HP lvl 3
This skills are priority. You can only use lunastra(xeno) lbg for this build. It has free shot skill so u can spam slicing shot a lot. Good luck and sorry for my english.
How did you gest so fast with slice omg with those skills i take like 15min
Doragu spam r2 in his head, u will do 12-15 per tick, take slashberries too...

it does, only by a small margin though, I tested it in the training area a while ago
CantaPerMe very interesting. Thanks for the response. Have a good one :)
He's just like regular Kirin with a larger health pool.
He hits a lot harder too but I rarely get hit by him anyway so that part doesn't effect me much. The extra damage needed to take him down does though.
Your very used to all kirins attacks, very nicely done hunter
I'm glad I watched the video because I never knew those wedge beetles are there. I've been climbing up the vines all the way up the whole time...
What's the point of GS with those damage numbers and maneuverability?
Whats new about the arch monsters? What do they give u cuz idk, i want some cool shit and dont wanna grind for nothing
They could have re-colored rathalos and adapt the Dreadking moveset, along with the dreadking armor... but no, they made kirin shinier and made it more hyper.
Silver Rathalos would make more sense

even though I'm very new to speedrunning and suck but I wish you luck. *Not like you need any with your skills*
Mr Canta can i know ur set armor n decor? Thank you
1:53 Canta stands behind Kirin, still hits head.
2nd gen hitboxes are now working in our favor?
What is this sorcery?!
6:32 increible :0
What is the difference with arch tempered kirin so far it looks like normal kirin to me I heard she was meant to have new attacks maybe I heard wrong?
I see Kirin is rocking that Super Sayan 3 hair.
I noticed you use the golf swing for the wake up. Does the golf swing do higher damage than the third hit of Brutal Big Bang?
It does slightly more damage but the difference is so small that it doesn't really matter which option you choose, I just did it for the style points
Hey canta nice run!
Why did u wake up the kirin with the golfswing? Is ot the most effective strike of the hammer?
yes
@@CantaPerMe oh ok thx i thought that L3 charge had less ko dammage but better raw dammage than golfswing
Can you try this again this time with longsword? I wanna see that thing in action again. :)
Canta , I know you are busy . But can you do a high damage dual blade build ? For diablos club and wrath predation . Thank you so much
Nice game play, still trying to figure out how to get the augumentations and you beat this kirin
Is this "arch" type of monster a thing they added on the last patch? sorry, im just waiting for G rank to come, i need harder fights
holy shit that fvckin aerial smash got kirin cry . poor kirin 😂
Lovely as always
Well play bro!
That feeling when you think you died, but you actually killed it. #heartattack
Watching you take on AT kirin without even using mantles makes me question if I should continue playing the game.
Great run despite that being the most uncooperative tank of a Kirin I've ever seen! I'm just kind of pissed that they're stat-barring elders before they even get a decent roster of monsters from the older games (that anybody actually likes), or new ones that are genuinely different and fun to fight.
never noticed the hit box of the hammers final smash until now.
Is there a reason why he doesn't use the "power charge" mode ?
Are all AT Elder Dragons guarantee Giant crowns?
Every time I try I faint or my team faints, any suggestions?
That 7:40 Wake up call. 'Makes some notes'
Kirin has aprox 14k health
At 9.6k of damage taken drops the first pod
And about 1.5k more is goes to its nest and we all now its pretty easy doing 4k of damage
So now y'all know
It has more health than the original tempered Kirin and obviously more attack
No new moves sets? And whats the armor for it like, spec wise?
Do this is arch tempered but does that mean all others will get that form and will orochi Kirin come out already tempered or arch tempered
1:13 That hitbox would make plesioth feel defeated.
I must say I’m not really that impressed with these arch tempered monsters. While the gear may be great the monsters themselves barley offer anything new besides buffed attacks and HP? Thought the hunts would be radically different in a way.
PuNanii Senpai i figured he would have at least one or two new moves (like socks said) but its just Kirin given the T.Jho treatment.
Ray Blade Yeah thats very disappointing. Capcom should at least beef the AI and multiply their movesets. Because as it stands we’re essentially hunting the exact same monsters but now their HP sponges.

tempered and arch monster is same / not? if not , what difference?
*gets every hit even from the air*
WHOA AWESOME!!
Me: *MISSES EVERY FUCKING HIT* ok.
Is nobody else concerned with how that Kirin walked up the wall? It’s a magical unicorn jumping that far makes sense but no thumbs...
1:51 there’s no way he get a head shot... ALRIGHT THEN.
Also WOW that smokepuff was effective.
Does it have new moves, or does more damage? Or is it just more hp?
Would you consider this to be on par with or at least close to G rank?
I honestly commend you for this feat, I cannot do this with a melee if they paid me, It is completely impossible, I go with fire bow and confortably in distance. Gotta try this Arch Tempered thing tho.
There is no "take everything" option for the loot table on console? yikes
Man, if I hadn’t have watched this right before I first tried I would most definitely have gotten curbstomped. For some reason going at Kirin with hammer never crossed my mind before.
What’s the combo for that three charge and upswing ?
BP Lover tri-tri-tri but you need to do it standing still. Hammer charge would be nice too.
StinklesAFI omg thank you so much !!
What's your build. Please explain in detail
Tried this myself .. holy crap how do you hit all those swings???
Kirin is by far the most satisfying monster to kill with a hammer.
Why where u using the triple triangle combo for wake up and not the charged one?
it does more damage
