New York Mets baseball is brought to you by Rheingold, the beer with the 10 minute head, and by HFC, and by your New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County Chrysler Plymouth dealer. All the pictures, descriptions, and accounts of this game are the property of the New York Mets and WOR Channel 9. Any publication, reproduction, or retransmission without the expressed written consent of the New York Mets, is prohibited. Hello again everyone, I'm Ralph Kiner, along with Lindsey Nelson and Bob Murphy to bring you the play by play action between the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs, here at the home of the Mets, Shea Stadium.
This is what I would call a wonderful tribute to the incomparable Ms Jane Jarvis, who was as much a part of the "Big Shea" as any player...thank you indeed....
Saw my first in person Mets' game at Shea in 1967...double header against the Cardinals. I'm pleased my rendition of "Meet the Mets" generated fond memories for you. I've been putting it off but, I'm planning on recording and posting "Let's Go Mets" ... the tune Jane Jarvis played in those days when the Mets took the field. Stay tuned and thank you for your comments.
Thank you! The "Missing Mets Middle" is such an important part of the tune. Today on the field, the "Missing Mets Middle" involves Asdrubal Cabrera on the the DL! LET'S GO METS!"Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets, where did they go? To MEET THE METS! Oh, they're hollerin' and cheerin' and they're jumpin' in their seats, where did they go? To MEET THE METS! All the fans are true to the orange and blue, so hurry up and come on down - 'cause we've got ourselves a ball club, The Mets of New York town!"
Dennis Ribant takes the mound. Excellent to Jane Jarvis, it's so beautiful to listen to, tear to the eye. And the Mets won opening day beating the Nats 5-3.
WOW! Dennis Ribant... he goes back nearly 60 years. You are a true Mets' fan! Glad you enjoyed my rendition of "Meet the Mets." If we can stay healthy our Mets might have a shot at it this year. From one Mets fan to another.... best wishes, Alan.
@@tripziegler3674 I remember Ken Boyer at 3rd, Jerry Bouchek, eddie bressoud, Bob Shaw, don shaw and Jack Fisher and the terrible losing as Jimmy wynn, willie Stargell and Willie Mccovey all pounded homeruns off Mets pitching. I met Dennis Ribant (Mets best in 1966) and Tommy Davis at a sports show. I met Tommie Agee on a plane.
@@alanlefkowitz7423 I remember all those players as well. I've followed the Mets from the very beginning in 1962. As you know, in those early years they lost many more than they won. Yet, there was something special about those rosters and the fan support they enjoyed. Tommie Agee was one of my favorites.
Thank you for your kind words and vote of confidence! In the mid-1980s, I was the home game organist for the Seattle Mariners (Kingdome). However, I've always been a Mets' fan. A couple years back, I approached the Mets about playing electronic organ at home games. At that time, the Mets expressed that live electronic organ music at Citi Field was not part of their current direction. I sure would love to do it though! Thanks again.
Almost as Jane Jarvis version !! Outstanding !! Do you remember the song Jane wrote for the team just before the Mets took the field called Let's Go Met's ?
Yes... I well remember the tune and will record and post it to UA-cam soon. Glad you enjoyed my rendition of Meet the Mets. I've been a Mets fan since the very beginning (1962).
+Trip Ziegler Hi. Just found your posting on UA-cam. This is great. I would second the request for Let's Go Mets. I search periodically looking for a version, and the best I can find is Howie Rose talking over a version from the pregame show in 1994. Thanks
Trip. It's "request time"? In the early 1960's, my best friend and I would go to Ranger games at the 49th Street Garden. We'd get there at least an hour before warm-ups so we could listen to Virginia Thomas play. There are two songs that stand out. The Ranger Victory Song as she played it LIVE for every game. Not the tinny recorded version played now a days. The other was Tico-Tico which was played during the skate arounds that opened each period. If you could find those versions which had the BIG ARENA SOUND, I'll be able to die and go to heaven. Regardless, thank you, Dave
Dave. I am also a NY Rangers fan! I travel back to the city a couple times each year to catch some Rangers' matches at today's Garden. While I know the two tunes you requested, I am not familiar with Virginia Thomas' arrangements. I'll do some searching to see what I might come up with. Thanks for asking. TZ
Bee Jay Good to reconnect with you and thanks for your kind comments. I still play those tunes and many more. I'm banging on the piano keys more these days but, still sit down at the electronic organ bench from time to time. I fondly recall the Lowrey Organ days on the road. Best wishes and stay in touch.
Trip, whoever the METS pick for their new General Manager, rush a letter to him suggesting it's time to bring back a live organ. Time for a groundswell. I will be writing such a letter as soon as the decision is made public. Should I put in your name?

You forgot Manufacturers Hanover and White Owl Cigars.

Not a Mets fan, but I remember hearing Jane Jarvis tickle the ivories on the Shea Stadium organ over TV. Very well done, Trip Ziegler!
Jane will always live in my tender memories of Shea Stadium and the Mets. God Bless You Jane Jarvis!
Trip, you have nothing to worry about. Ms. Jarvis would approve of your version in a heartbeat. Great job!
Getting ever closer to pitchers and catchers reporting. "Tuning up" for more heartbreak. GO TRIP !!!!!
Well done! Thank you for posting -- needed that lift after tough playoff loss last night. #LGM.
I feel like it’s 1967 and I’m at Shea again 😪

And the Mets probably lost both games...right ??
Loved listening and watching. As a kid spent hours in the old Lowrey Mall stores as my mom shopped her heart out. Fond memories.
This was an outstanding version!! So glad I found it✌️⚾️
Great rendition!
WAY TO GO TRIP...You've included the "MIssing Mets Middle". All Hail # 23, Joe Christopher and The Polo Grounds.

Fantastic!
Love this and play itall the time. And thank you, Trip.

Dude, that was amazing!
Excellent!!!!
The Mets should hire you at Citi Field at once

Yeah, I can see their point. That would be too tasteful and might not alienate the older fans.
Mets need an organist full time, total joke
Love.
What a sound!
I'll take old time organ playing at sporting events over crappy regurgitated music any day
Organ sounds almost like Dodger Stadium.
Fantastic! I miss the old days of the organ music. Now, even at minor league parks, it's a non-stop assault on the ears.
A M A Z I N G !
Close, Jane played the opening chord a little higher.
Never heard the 2nd chorus on organ before.
Good job!
Thank you for the feedback. I'm pleased you enjoyed the video.
Jane's version was more staccato in points
Does anyone know if sheet music for Jane's arrangement of "Meet The Mets" on organ exists?
where did they go? to meet the Mets!

+gregnugget , Trip I wonder if you can play Let's go Mets for us love to hear your version of it.
@@tripziegler3674 Any chance you'll still post your rendition of 'Let's Go Mets'?

Almost never get to hear the butcher and baker part on organ.
This is the entire version of the song.
Jane Jarvis would have been proud.
The mets need you to play after a game.
Nice to hear you play the organ again! Do you still play "All the Things You Are" or "Georgia On My Mind"? Ashton

The GM never replied. Idiot!
Sounds like a polka.
Played by somebody who obviously had this drummed into their head when they were a kid. LOL
