    Thank you Russell. Truly a lifesaver. Your explanation of the left hip extension is the best out of all the UA-cam videos out there. You’re absolutely correct that when they just talking about left hip extending in isolation of rotation, that’s all we do as amateurs and we end up under rotating... when you say left hip extension is a natural result of continuous hip rotation... That changes everythinggg. Thanks again and keep up the amazing work!

    You’re instruction and explanations are second to none. I’ve watched hundreds of videos and have taken many lessons. THIS video gave me my “ah ha” moment. I also like the content with your wife starting from the square one. I envy her getting this instruction from the very beginning. Very informative and entertaining.     This has been my problem - flipping. You have really explained clearly how to solve this problem. When I get it right the feeling of power is terrific. I still sometimes regress to flipping and it feels horrible now. Cheers for another great video.

    Couldn't agree more with Porky. These are really excellent videos, far more informative and relevant to amateur golfers than I have seen elsewhere. More drills for for the impact and post impact positions would be great as I find moving up into a finishing position having moved down into a pre impact position is not easy.

    Hi Russell. Thank you for clarifying that.
    It is a problem for everyone to come up to soon but trying to keep working the right shoulder under and around the spine keeping the right should down at impact. While the club handle and left leg raising which lifts up the left hip. I find by just rotating my left hip keeps my weight more on my right leg.
    But by driving my right leg forward off my right toe liner to the left helps transfer my weight to my left leg much better. Your left hip dont just turn it rotates, as it moves forward and up at the same time. I think viewers get problems with weight shift as all they are told is to pull the left hip around and back. With no forward motion. Nice video .

    I'm 60 years old and I live in a golf community. I just started golfing in March because of Covid-19. I played baseball as a kid and now I'm learning the similarities and the differences. I'm an analytical person by nature. These videos are great!!! I actually have neighbors that are already inviting me to golf with them and you know how snobbish golfers can be to anyone learning to golf. Thanks Russell Heritage!

    Hi Russell! One way i have found to force your body to rotate thru centrifical force. On the downswing just before impacting the ball lift the heel of your back foot as well as lift your heel on your front foot! Not a lot of lift maybe an inch or two. This will force your body to have more rotation on the release; if you have the right sequencing and add even greater distance to your shot! Anyhows, it works for me!

    Ok I needed to see this video - I just posted a slow motion swing on Instagram (same name as profile) but I think I’m early releasing and maybe slight chicken wing - I hit my 7 iron 160-170 so I have power but maybe could have even more! Thanks!

    Russell, If you teach people to concentrate on keeping the head low during rotation they will automatically stay in posture and not extend early. It worked for me.

    Very good. Where would the club face position be at while the leading hip is rotating? Should the hip be rotating back to full extension at the moment the club face hits the ball or sooner? Hope I'm clear.

    Love the videos Russel, I have a question regarding how a junior learns to develop their swing. Would they learn through drills or would they learn through video and analyzing with a coach? Basically would a coach use drills or just repetition of the swing with tweaks?

    The side bend is sort of critical here, it has to be the perfect porage, not too hot, not too cold, just right. What's interesting is that we side bend in the other direction at address. So it's kind of a bend-to-bend movement. It's definitely an athletic movement. Some players who are very loose will bend more than others. It has to fit the person. jmo of course

    Your technique has been so helpful. My misses , especially with driver is hitting behind the ball. I assume it’s from casting too early and letting my arms get active instead of the core. But I feel as if it’s my head is moving before contact. Is there a way to feel more like I am swinging around my body and keeping my head down?

      I would check your backswing as this could be the reason your struggling to find an answer to your downswing

      Yeah it will, but I also feel it will be influenced by the rotation of the pelvis and the spine

    Hi Russell. Thanks for taking time to post your videos. The one thing I noticed the most and maybe you do it unconsciously, is the amount your BACK FOOT lifts and helps your lower body rotate. I am guessing you would not be able to rotate or lift correctly if you left your back foot down, Thanks again.

      It comes down to range of motion and how much pressure you shift over. The more weight on trail the lead leg will sort of collapse and be dragged across. Either way it doesn’t matter

      @@russellheritagegolf Thanks for your reply. Have you tried consciously to leave your trail foot down and see how much it restricts your rotation? I can see you are very athletic and flexible. Can you show what your swing would look like with out lifting your trail foot and why it does not matter? Like every weekend golfer some days I really need to remind myself to keep my feet grounded and actually dig in my spikes, other days I need to remind myself to let my back foot release and help me rotate through my shots.

    Russell thanks. I have found that the pre-loading my posture (the belt down towards the left ankle improves the hip position). From that posture (starting swing) I can hit more of your suggested swing sequence points. Is that normal or just a result of finding a better or more optimal posture?

      This is absolutely fine, just make sure that it doesn’t restrict your rotation in the backswing too much aside from that your fine

    Hi Russell, good summary today but there is an aspect of the transition that you don’t seem to cover in your excellent vidieos. There is a lot happening in the transition in a short time and it can’t really be done at slow speed because the dynamic forces involved completely change the way it feel. It includes a small amount of re-centring and the development of the “Sam Sead” sit at the trail arm parallel position that marks the end of the transition. Another UA-cam instructor advises that you sit into the lead hip in the transition before posting up on it. This seems to contradict your advice that the “weight” needs to stay on the trail hip to stabilise it and to stop it coming forward towards the ball during the transition and to allow the unweighted lead hip to move back. Any helpful thoughts?

    Early extenders know how to extend, just get them to try and do it left of the target line rather than at the ball.

    I’ve struggled with stop rotating and a straightening of my spine angle to square the face subconsciously at impact. My question is could achieve what you want in this video with a simple left leg straightening and weight to the left heal to promote more hip turn?

      @@russellheritagegolf Russell, after trying this no progress. I've come up with a different untested solution. Can I flare my left foot at address (specifically a bit more than midway from straight and pointing to the target) to promote that rotation without messing my plane up? I know flaring both feet is popular, but i feel my solution is a bit more exaggerated than tradition flaring. I'm flexible enough to still reach a full back swing rotation but just with some slow motion video without a club my body rotates more naturally using this. Thoughts?

    Latest 3d Gears info states that player are actually moving their arms stragiht down quite aggressively from the top as they rotate. Thoughts on this?

      For sure, whisky in sequence from lower body up. Most amateurs struggle with the sequence and rotational motion therefore I discuss this more than pulling the arms done although it’s mentioned in many pier videos 👍

    Russell great drill - at what point do you stop trying to hold the club up from the backswing as you rotate? Is there a conscious release of the hands and wrists through the hitting area??

    Hello Russell. I've tried your drills on staying centered and they give me the correct feeling and look in the mirror, but when I put a golf club in my hand, my head still sways to the right a few inches. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have a tendency to rotate my right forearm early in the takeaway, which makes my club getting out of its plane. I can overcome this by reducing the pressure of my right hand to nearly zero on the shaft of the golfclub (i.e. nearly keeping my right hand fully loose in the backswing). However this feels very odd. Do you have any other tip (drill or mean) to overcome this issue? Thanks!

      To be fair you answer it really well for me in another video. I can’t keep up with the content 😄it’s as if we’re all working from home.
      I’m thinking of a way to host a live (Taken on Trust) British Open for people with golf nets. You call the shot shape to the actual course yardage and how successful your contact was and modify it with a dice throw.
      I’m the current Masters champion as of yesterday afternoon. Holed out from Lyle’s bunker on the 18th

    "This video is for all golfers" Have you looked at your video & some of the positions you demonstrate? I'm curious as to how you know any of this is fact and not just "stuff" you think is important. I'm referring to scientific studies that prove your ideas to be correct and for "all" golfers. If you have no studies to refer to then what about your own experience in teaching these rather complicated concepts. Do you have a number of golfers which you have taught this to and if so how much has their game improved and can you prove they got better because of you or in spite of you? Have you followed a large data sample from day one and tried to prove your methods work. I ask these questions because you act as though the principles you teach are effective. I'll bet you can't find 5 well-known golf instructors who agree with half of what you say starting at 4:30 in your video. Are thesea ideas your own? If not your own who taught them to you and shouldn't you give that person credit?

    everything is mentioned but what counts?? rotating ,opening up, ? all a waste. The only thing the golfer should be thinking about is being on target, maybe balance. Bla bla bla.

    Thumbs down. Way, WAY more technical than necessary for an amateur mid-handicapper. Nobody needs to micromanage their body like that in a fluid golf swing. I'm gonna have to unsubscribe. This was shockingly technical.
