So love that I get to re-experience this great series through your eyes. Thanks for the great reactions. Everyone in the series is great, but something about the way Patti plays Lilia made her so real and grounded.
The Andor comparison is apt. You've got shows about second tier characters in their shows, run by strong show runners who have a clear vision for a specific type of story, which were made without too much expectation and were allowed to experiment with more complex stories. And they were both almost unbelievably well written. Obviously, the character of the shows is very different, but the lessons for modern streaming television is clear; let creative people make creative shows!!!!
24:43 I actually think it was purposeful. If you think back along what the other witches have experienced, we see this pattern of there being a tie in that hints to a non-supernatural/magic issue the audience can draw from. Jen has had a piece of her taken without her permission, and she has a feeling of losing her agency. Alice talked about her curse and how it affected her life, the same way we often hear someone describe depression. I think Agatha shows when someone has been told their bad so much they believe it. And even Teen being dismissed as not a witch or part of the coven. Feels like we adults dismiss kids. Even in WandaVison, we see someone trying to bury their grief. And also how sometimes you lash out and you bring other people into your issues by the simple fact of not seeking help.
The 7 are basically a scary mcguffin to chase them down the road. I think the real problem is going to be Rio. Yes so far the best episode yet! And I couldn't wait to see your reaction to this!
If Lilia's original coven, and especially her Maestra, had survived, and been in charge of Earth's mystical defense (instead of Kamar Taj and SHIELD)... It would have been a much less dangerous, and much less exciting world. Still... she's so cool!
As a 90’s to Y2K hetero boy wonder toy I want nothing more than to sit(sip, or sit and sip) with these two and discuss the journey of never having a theatre class at my private school and how a hetero male yearns for the non gridiron spotlight he wishes could be had and the friends and meaningful connections he lost by this not being a possibility.
i know its a scary ability she has., but it holds a lot of potential right?. surely this wasnt all she did with this, SPINOFF SHOW PLZ. show us her before this xD
As much as the religious private school made us research and discover the world’s religions it was too small for a theatre and fine arts and I must say Jess and Alex fill a void for me
I'm a grown ass man.. "I loved being a witch" had be bawlin'
Sasheer Zamata's delivery of "Lilia!" where her voice broke destroyed me.
The very end, when "Time In A Bottle" starts, this 62 year old man years up every time
This episode was the best piece of television I've seen in a while.
Yes! Patti LuPone as the Cut-wife and the therapist in season 3 of Penny Dreadful was so good!...Well, now I miss that show again.
Lilia said she needed her coven, and they were there with her until the end. I’m still grieving.

Genuinely was waiting for your reaction to this ep.😢
Love the show and your reactions. This is a particularly good match.
To be fair the seven are probably only a threat because all these witches don't have power or access to them at this moment

Exactly!!
so excited for you to see next episode but i think this one is the best
I loved the grandma's character as well. She really makes you feel that she contains all wisdom.
You mean the Maestra of Lilia's coven?

I live for the initial rant ! The streaming plateforms thumbnails are sooooo spoileryyyy !!!
It reminded me of Castle Rock too

From our linear point of view she might be dead, but for all we know, she might still have plenty of gaps ahead of her.
why would you judge by the thumbnail?? but also why would they put Lilia in the thumbnail 😂😂
Yes yes yes!!!
Seeing your delayed reactions is great, because it makes me feel like the show is still going. And I'm already feeling the withdrawal.
19:48 why would you think this? 😅 y'all must've not been paying attention to Lilia
