- So here I show the way Mark Knopfler plays his rhythm parts on songs like "Walk Of Life".
Note: Sometimes he alternates the thumb between the low E string and the A string.
HAVE FUN!! 😁😁😁😁
I'm finding this very hard ! Really want to play it - can you give any more tips?! Thanks
I can
The best
Bravo 👏👏👏
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
GOD BLESS YOU!
This Man inspired me to Stop playing guitar

Comes the Mel Collins's Two Young Lovers saxophooooooone 🎷
If I may be so bold, I don’t think this is quite right……Mark is actually playing 4 beats to the bar with his thumb (boom-ching style) not two.
So where you are using a downstroke of your first and middle finger, he is using the 2 and 4 beats of his thumb I believe.
This is because he is actually doing a derivation of travis picking / Chet atkins style using 4 beats to the bar on the thumb.
That’s cheating. Pretty sure this video is correct. When MK plays you can hear the percussive sound from his nails.
+1 here. I just tried both and although it sounds fine with 4 down thumbs I think there are only two, with the other two replaced by the percussive flick with the nails of the first two fingers.
@@HdyDdy-qs8kqYeah, I guess the riff/notes can be played how you like, even with a plectrum but the point of the video is to show MK technique….which he uses on Walk of Life but also he uses variations with use of finger nails on many of his songs including his famed Sultans of Swing and Money for Nothing. Check out Dylan Guitar…. he has some slowmo detailed videos.
@@guitartommo2794 I stand corrected you’re 100% right. Thx
Are you doing the hammer on the D string while holding an A chord?
This for playing rythm, but what about playing lead?
Mark is also playing in A not E 😂
Wrong
yeah, doesn't mark do a percussive downstroke with his fingernails in between?
@@lukamoric9300He is doing exactly that in this video…thumb down, fingers up, fingers down ( back of nail) fingers up. Then repeat. Looks correct to me. Of course doing it to speed with correct notes is another matter😊
