My father had a black one back in 1973, back at that time I thought the 59 Mercedes looked ancient. Love this car, I would like to purchase one someday, and restore the engine to be like brand new. AC as must in Florida.

I would start with this guy that posted this video for guidance and I'm sure the internet, keep in mind that this is also a European car made in Germany, so there may be other avenues. Good luck, keep me in mind if you ever decide to sell it.

One of the best looking Mercedes...I was interested to see the headlamps are different to those fitted in Europe - possibly replaced at some time ? European models had flush mounted glass .
I would swear that interior was red leather ..Maybe because it has a worn look....Is that the radio on top of the dash ? I saw the 2 knobs and a rectangle shaped part
We believe it may have been leather originally, but when it was last restored it was replaced with vinyl. No Jim, the radio would be on the face of the dash where the 220 SE emblem is. I believe that might be an ashtray on top, with a lighter next to it. I'm not positive though, because I didn't look closely enough.
Till 2years ago I worked for a guy that had a car exactly like this one. Same paint, condition etc. It was sitting in a garage in south st. Louis. I wonder if its the same car....

where would you even begin to find parts for one? I'm in line to get my grandpa's in the near future and want to restore it

It is possible that it's the same car. They only made about 2000 of them, so they are pretty rare.
Almost as good as a trip to Leno's.
