In reality one of the clutch packs that is shared with the forward and reverse "gears" burned up. That's what that smell was. They're basically just paper. From experience the frictions will just be glazed over and black with a nasty smell to them. If is really bad then the friction material just flakes off after it burns up and ends up in the pan.
@@mysock351C It hadn't occurred to me that automatics could have clutches (though by your description they don't rub). @@C.I... They have what are called clutch packs (and bands). A clutch pack is literally a stack of steel plates and paper-lined frictions. Usually something like 6 or 8 of them that act as a wet clutch. There are also bands (a large steel strip with paper friction material) that are used in some transmissions to lock a reaction drum. The planetary sets provide the various ratios of reduction as different clutches lock/release the various members of each planetary gear set (ring gear, spider/planet gear assembly, and sun gear). There are also one-way sprag clutches as well (like a freewheel on your bicycle) that are used for routing power through the gear train. Have you guys heard of the neutraldrop channel? The do burnouts using this method
You smoked an autoclutch
Do neutral drops until your transmission explodes in an automatic, basically rev to max and throw it into drive.
I've seen a woman in a convertible do this on the highway. The back tires smoked up and the car hopped over the transmission as it skidded between the street and car. Metal and fluid was everywhere while the dummy was stuck in the middle lane. (Stopped to help, she was joyriding and her friend dared her. It was the boyfriends car so they laughed it off.)
Who needs ABS when you have reverse gear..
what sort of Japanese Sorcery is this ?!
Hi. In Australia at the Holden proving test track called Lang Lang, they used to test the new model by getting the test driver to change from reverse to drive with wide open throttle! They did this until something broke! Thats why the old Holden9 were as tuff as nails!
Interesting. Never thought if selecting reverse inn emergency. Cheers
Try this in an old lada with a manual transmission.
Interesting: Reversing while driving as a single-use "super emergency brakes" when you lose the main brakes because once you use it, your gearbox is toast.
And/or torque converter
I'll try the parking brake first.
I think it's funny that the motor is revving its heart out to accelerate at a normal pace
This guy deserves more sub's
Do the same on a manual car :) I'd love to see what would happen(ruin the engine/trans?).
lots of ground gears and brass shavings
My money is on the driveshafts being obliterated. Or hellish amounts of clutch slip, the smell would be unpleasant.
Wont happend..reverse lockup,wont go in
Watch mastermilo82 he did it
untouchable, light after darkness, i agree. I have accidentally tried shifting in my manual and the lever hit a block and it would not engage until i would bring the car speed back to 0.
Too easy this one. I really want to see engaging "P" with the car in movement
All mine just clicked till it got to about 5mph then locked up.
With older automatics you will for sure just break the parking pawl and have yourself two neutrals.
I accidentally did this once, going about 5 mph. Rapid clicking as the parking pawl tried to engage until I stepped on the brake, causing the car to suddenly stop. Not all that dramatic, really.
dude you are freaking awesome............ i always wanted to know what would happen if i put a car in reverse while going forward at a decent speed........thanks man ......really appreciate it

Man: aOaOAaH
Translation: there we go.
Why convert to miles? He says 100 km/h.
they're catering to burger audience
Most car guys know 62mph is 100kmh.
@@Fanaz10 you don't eat burgers?
Murica
The largest audience for this channel is in the US and UK.
As soon as I saw it was Russian I knew it was going to be good.
And not a tattooed hipster in sight!
It's fun to do that while going 20mph in reverse and then slamming to drive and drifting around haha
Great video! RIP Transmission!
To prevent people from doing exactly what you are trying to do.
107% success.
Do it in a mustang it will lockem up lol I know a guy lol
Was there any lasting damage?
Not that I remember some how I got lucky
I did it in a 92 mustang 5.0 at 40 mph and did one hell of a rolling burner.
Barney Rubble same lol I blew a brake caliper and lost brakes and some lady pulled out in front of me
@@Bojanglz2.0 that had to suck! I had a freebee from the dealer back in the day to do it in. When i say freebee i mean, you catch my drift. Now i realize i was nuts back then, doing the dumb shit i did!
this was painful to watch....😔Next time do it to a ford.
love it keep up the good work
They finally figured out how to stall an automatic
Consumer Reports needs to add this into testing.
Oh how I love these videos
I use to do that in my old 74 Monte Carlo, untill the drive shaft broke. Fun times!
a german dude did this with a manual, eventually the output shaft overpowered the input one and made the engine spin backwards and made the car run only with 2 cylinders.
when they removed the head cover they found that two rocker arms snapped when the engine spun backwards, it also appears that the reverse gear grinded enough to not engage at all
Did that accidentally with a 1963 Chevy Impala. SS, convertible, 283 with a Powerglide.
I was doing about 40 mph, wanted to engage neutral whilst rolling to hear the engine revving. Lever went too far.
Entire drivetrain froze, engine stopped, wheels blocked. Came to a halt screetching.
Started the car again, and never had a problem. The PG is a durable transmission.
Mastermilo 82 did it in a manual Opel Astra. It destroyed the gearbox.
this guy is the best
I love Toyota, I have a 96 Corolla and it’s awesome, the engine isn’t interference so I rarely do belt replacements and oil life is perfect, gas mileage is a well done too.
