I'm a little late to the party but if you want really good colored metallics, a silver basecoat followed by airbrushed inks (or really thin paint) works wonders. Even better if you start with a dark metal and silver zenithal.

A good technique for great glow is to apply a super bright silver like Vallejo Duraluminum. Slap a GW contrast paint layer over it...edge/corner line with white then do another Contrast layer.
@@MMMayhem no problem. I actually learned the technique from Marco Frisoni. Well the base idea of using GW contrasts over chrome/super shiny metal. I hybridized it using the multi layer with white highlights in-between. It looks really good for power weapons for 40k.

I see a lot of xacto knife close to your fingers action, and it makes me pucker up. Dunno how secure you feel in your knife handling, but there's heavily articulated chainmail gloves available that people tend to use for wood carving on small pieces. Perhaps worth looking into?
Try to get into the paint aspect. So I Appreciated not perfection but completion and I love gem head piece. But I am surprised you did try sanding down the gem to to a different shape you may have try too. I kind wanted to know if you try modify the gem and if you did was a mess and that's why you didn't do it.
I didn't make any mods to them gem, I literally just glued it in at the last minute! Lol, but now that you mention it, I'm curious as to what trying to modify it would be like... Thank you for the insight!
I use the red ones to cut off runner, and the sharper blue ones to cut off the nub, my early gunpla videos are very beginner-friendly, but I don't have any 'tutorial' videos. Check out G Academy ;)
