@iTripReport That "stewardess" (Oh I LOVE being politically correct) looked really pretty and had nice legs too I like the tall boots....there I said it now let the "TI"s commence their attacks. I wish you would have shown a bit more of her
The CRJ-700 is actually kind of a beast when it comes to performance as you see at 8:41 . Does well enough fully loaded, but half way it does even better; it's a real treat to fly completely empty. Basically a rocket ship at that point. Only downside - light CRJ7's are notoriously stiff in the landing!
About time they made CRJs livable. the noise though sounded like a cabin door pressure seal leaking [maybe a galley ECS duct too]. But I will still prefer a 717 trip, and look forward to the MRJ when they finally get their act together.
I think this is a great idea, the CRJ700 is a great aircraft in its own right and this will keep them in the air for many more years. If passengers actually pay for First class the CRJ550 will be an economical aircraft. Great video with lots of details, well done :-)
Great video! I hope delays like yours are not indicative of dressing up an older jet in fancy new clothes. Bah, Im biased anyways, the A220 is one of the best regional experiences I have had!
@@JonathanRamkissoon-el3cj Technically right about the A220, however it was used on a route (SEA-SJC) that was 5 minutes longer than the flight documented hear, hence "regional experiences."
Very well done review. Very funny and informative narration. The single FA does present as a problem for me, crews may find this ac more difficult to work.. United was forced to respond to Delta's A220. It's an admirable effort and has proven to be a reliable frame. I hope this succeeds for them, but ultimately it's an old plane w a make over.
I'm a flight attendant, I fly mostly on the CRJ200, occasionally the CRJ700 and the ERJ175. The galley configuration seems very similar to the 700 with the addition of the snack bar of course. I would love this aircraft. As far as the high pitch sound he mentioned in the video CRJs are always making some sort of weird noise, it's probably coming from the MCD, I always pull the curtain which helps a lot with the noise.
Yeah, it seems like it would be very difficult, because although FC has the bar they still need drinks and then you have to do econ, and that all needs to be done very quickly, especially because many times this plane will barely be making the cut for service, if at all.
This is not an upgrade ! This is the United corporate coming up with solutions to get around the United pilot scope Clause that prevents them from expanding their e175 Network
To better appreciate your video, viewers should pop over and see QFS's companion report of the same flight. One day when some college offers a degree in 'how to be an airline reviewer' these two reviews could be used in a compare contrast lesson. After reviewing both your reviews your review it's far better and I was already a subscriber to QFS. But I also subbed and I am now following you. Great work
Idk if I’d like being the only FA (I like two so we can cross check things and have backup) but I do like this layout. Regional carriers get a bad rep most times I feel so this is nice and brings some class to those short commuter flights
@8:38 I was on a American Eagle CRJ-900 flight from DFW - LBB and they did a pretty steep ascent. (Looking forward from my seat felt like I was looking up.)
As a pilot whose going to enter the airlines in a couple years, the -550 seems great for you, but shit for us. Basically it’s United sticking it to the pilots unions, and allows our salary to stay at 30k for longer because you can’t upgrade. It’s a creative way to stay greedy, but to be fair this is much needed since the CRJ is kind of a crappy airplane for passengers, flight crews, etc, and it’s mainly because it’s over capacity.
I can see your point. This 550 is delaying somewhat the disappearance of 50 seaters (as CRJ200/ ERJ145 are gradually being retired,). It's however a clever use of the CRJ700 airframe.
The CRJ-550 exists because of the limit of 70 seat aircraft, not 50 seat. The regionals have no limit to how much 50 seat flying that is done. Just a correction for 0:29
Love your video. I also wondered about only one FA. We shall see how that works out. I usually try not to bother them if they are super busy. I do love the 'fat guy' extra seat space in first class. That will make me a happy camper on my next flight.
The Cardiacpack ... I travel extensively Internationally in First as well as Business Classes and yes the snack bar is there but NOT for the main meal service. I suppose it’s fine for a hour or so flight but I still think it’s a cost cutting measure by United. I sure hope that there never comes a time for an emergency evacuation with only one flight attendant on board. 😔
As far as the comment that you did regarding one flight attendant for the entire airplane , i assume base on the video that this was a lite flight but with all 50 seats occupied i assume the planner may assign a second flight attendant , if im not mistaking per FAA is required one flight attendant for every 50 passengers.
You were surprised at the high climb rate and short take off role... Need to remember that although the aircraft only seats 50 instead of 70 and the ENGINES haven't changed.... so same thrust but probably several thousand pounds lighter!! No wonder the thing took off like a Rocket sled on rails......
So, its pretty much a reconfigured cabin CRJ700 with 50 seats and renamed. If they were to make another one, they would have to make changes to the CRJ700 design. At least this gives airlines a good idea of making regional jets a 3 class config.
“Fast Rotate”? The engines are the same GE CF34 powerplants as the 700, however the 550 weighs much less, only 2/3’s the bodies and baggage. * The CRJ550 has a lower MTOW than the CRJ700 in order to comply with scope clauses in US pilot contracts, and is expected to receive type certification in the second half of 2019. The initial 50 aircraft will be sourced from existing CRJ700 airframes, rather than being newly constructed. On 7 August 2019, United took delivery of the aircraft and began with a crew familiarization flight to Chicago-O’Hare International Airport (ORD).
How was the deplaning flow of passengers with the carry on bags stored between first and economy? I didn't see it in your video as you said your phone died but I'd have to imagine first passengers have to walk backwards into the cabin to retrieve their baggage from the storage closets? That seems counterproductive. Am I wrong?
