Today I took some time and visited different areas around OSRS, hopping many different worlds to see the current state of things.
I show you in this video that some areas are dominated by Bots. Judging by the Kill Counts and the XP of some of these bots...they have been running for a very long time!
Although OSRS will always have bots, lets hope that in the future they do not last for months, even years on end.
What are your thoughts on the botting problem? Do you think videos like this one or even much wider viewed videos like SirPugger does, help bring the right attention to this problem? Or does it just encourage people to bot? Let me know your honest opinion below! Thanks for watching!
To me it seems like Jagex has accepted botting and they're not bothered by it. Go check out the bots at rogue's chest too

I've seen those bots on fossil island for months now, every time I get a task for the wyverns I report as they run past me. Did a lot of Moons of peril lately and it's also infested with bots
Yeah top page was all bots but as of 3 days ago most were banned. Might be a new batch soon though

Sadly those Fossil Island bots have been around for years and years, when I went there training my slayer some bots even had over 100M melee stat xp

Not sure if you've seen Mod Matt's interview that he did on RiceCup's podcast, but that was eye opening for me as to Jagex's stance on bots. He outrightly states that Jagex views bots as a necessity in order to keep the economy moving and to make items instantly available in the G.E. the way we've come to expect. It is sort of sad to hear that from someone with so much insider knowledge, but he also points out many benefits of botting that most people don't think of. Either way, I play Iron almost exclusively now so I've come to be rather indifferent on the subject over the years.
It’s true unfortunately. Bot’s definitely keep the economy in check. It does suck tho because some items should be worth much more and also sucks having to hop worlds constantly. Don’t get me wrong I’m 100% against botting but it does keep it in check
It's purely artificial! Bots CREATE the problems that they solve. BS take from a BS mouthpiece.
Thats actually untrue because jagex can manipulate quantities and values of items on the grand exchange.
If they see it as a necessity that’s okay but maybe shove them all or some into a hidden world so the player base doesn’t have to play around the bots
I think Mod Matts understanding of how the economy works, and how bots positively or negatively influence it, and what the real implications of removing all bots would be, is severely lacking.
He's looking at the immediate effect that removing bots would have on "less desirable" things to farm, without understanding at all how that would affect the bigger picture. He cant see past "well people wouldn't want to do X,Y,Z"
I really wish that interview had pressed him more as im quite confident his ignorance on the topic would have been more apparent. Im quite confident His response was more a deflection tactic away from the issue.

That's part of it but the bigger part is the amount of revenue they generate for the game, its estimated they account for roughly 10 to 20% of the active player base in between ban waves
It's a publicly traded company, when 50% of the player base is bots they cannot ban them all. Also look at the bond prices back when I started they were 3 million a bond now they're anywhere from 11 to 13 million and rising. Only because most of the real players have a monthly subscription while the bots buy bonds with GP. Bots = company revenue
100% if daily is 100k it's gotta be a minimum 20 30,000bots

That’s why I think people who chase ranks on highscores just wasting their time cause jagex can’t even keep up with the bots and the bots over run the highscores when they made the lvl 3 high scores so many lvl3s were surrounded by bots lol
Might help if jagex stops caring about mUh InVestOrs and actually turns their bot detection back on again.
most of those hiscore bots are hand trained by vennies and the like and they cant ban them until they mule

The actual issue is bots provide a massive boost in assets from membership and makes the game look more active. They're incentivized to let them live long enough to keep the botters botting long term but try to balance that with what's best for the game

only highscores that are overrun by bots are boss highscores. no one is going to bot an account to max total level. theres no point
imagine if 1 employee at jagex had a job of walking around the game as banning the no shit bots, it would be effortless and at MINIMUM show a good faith to the community in tackling this issue.
Even better. Find a country in Europe where minimal salary is the lowest and hire someone from there. Let them run 6hr a day whole week and i bet it would really help. Also make a client thats not open source and checks if u have botting program.

Plot twist… Jagex runs the bots to farm gold for extra revenue. How can a bot get 50,000 Vork kills as the only game content they’ve done and not trigger a ban!? That’s over 5 BILLION gold from that one bot alone.
the vork "bots" respond if you speak spanish to them lol, lots are just gold farmers so thats usually why they can get 30-60k kc, there are tons of real ppl who farm gold for like 10h a day to feed their families, its some black mirror shit

Great video, I highlighted the spitting wyvern bots to Sir Pugger,and have seen the Vorkath ones while doing a task. Recently I have seen a ton of bots doing the agility pyramid, sometimes 10-15 per world,all with 99+ agility
There are GWD bots doing 6:0 at bandos and kiting sara with perfect pray switches as well with thousands of kc

The game felt fun to me again when I started a group ironman. Reminded me of the old days

Rune drags bots have just exploded lately, was tryna do em while studying but no banana.
Even after? They banned what, a thousand bots that stream? You have to realize, tens of thousands of bots come into the game every single day. Tens of thousands.

When i did my 10 hour grind in puro puro, there was so many bots that i had to compete with. And when a high tier impling wasnt catched for a longer period, there was more and more bots login in to that specific world.
When i wanted to do something brain dead i pked green drag bots on my pure, eventually common names got out of my combat range and id kill them on the main, then before ive taken my recent break from osrs, a few had already reached well over 100m str.
ive noticed some bots near the hallowed sepulcher, thieving the vyres in the buillding right next to the shortcut over the wall. its very suspicious when you open the door and you see multiple people/bots run to the door to shut it, they all insantly stop when you open the door, and if you shut it quicky they will run back and if you open it again they will attempt to shut it

Saw a dude with 121 range in the sophanem dungeon def botting the mages and rangers. Another lvl 80 at Sara with like 5k kc. They’re literally everywhere
Yup, I'm at mlm now with a lvl 3 account "why mine" watching him mine non stop. Got over 160m mining exp and no other experience anywhere. Bots that are so painfully obvious like that should be taken out pretty fast and easy one would think....

Last time i was at mlm a bot logged in and hopped right on my spot and after trading, dropping stuff and even getting my 99 account to mine too eventually i guess i broke the bot and it would walk to the sack and back to wall over and over.
It did that loop for numerous hours and seeing it never get another ore it felt so nice

Literally last night they updated the fever spiders and their drop tables are way worse now

I've noticed some at skeletal wyverns in world 315. 2 or 3 days later they were still there when I went back
The problem is that bots earn Jagex revenue. Either by purchasing membership or by buying the limited supply of bonds. As long as jagex earns revenue from it, they'll continue to play both sides. This is a problem that has been persistent since the beginning, and these accounts survive months without being noticed. MrNoSleep and many others have said it themselves; "How have they not been caught?".
Tbh if Jagex really wants the bots around then they should ban the most obvious ones and let natural selection keep the ones we can't easily tell around. Seems more like they tend to catch mains running something from Osbot or whatever other easily-detected bots they use for the first time.
Jagex owns these bots themselves, I've seen the same bots at rev caves for 3 years.
They just use custom scripts to look normal
Basically Jagex doesn't want to get rid of the bots because they're afraid it will kill the playerbase both by floundering the economy and also making their numbers look less appealing.
Meanwhile, the bots slowly strangle the game to death because bots make it practically impossible to pull in new players. Meaning all future content will have to be geared towards maxed accounts by necessity to keep the only people still playing the game coming back.

those wyvern bots are there for over 2 years. as a ironman i never skip that task and everyworld is always packed they mostly 1 before the accient oens
if you go to chaos druids in Taverley chaos druids, every world has bots. TONNSSSS of them with 50m+ hunter exp too seen one with 115m exp
Barrows and Zulra bots are wild right now too. I’ve seen a few of the top pagers at barrows recently botting
I saw a guy with 200m hunter hunting chins. His only level above 10 was hunter. Crazy.
I think the air orb bots are the most underrated ones. No matter what world, what time of day, if I go into edgeville dungeon for any reason, there is ALWAYS at least 1 bot running there and thats been like that for literal years. Never fails.
They are one hundred bots at spitting wyverns, trained up to 70 prayer from killing them on my iron and they were running rampant.
Jagex could incorporate more systems like the Kingdom of Miscellania to have AI gather resources for players. People always complain about bots, but the real issue is the automation. If everyone has access to automated resource gathering, then the concept of bots becomes irrelevant. This approach could also help inflate the number of items entering the game, justifying the need for large item sinks and helping with significant gold sinks.
The only issue would be bossing bots but that should be easier to detect if other hotspots are eliminated leading to a concentration of where botting is done.
At least 10 runecrafting bots in every world at castlewars that all get close to the top of the highscores. 161 worlds that is aprox 1600 bots each making 7b worth of natures.
At this point the botting programs are more advanced than OSRS spaghetti code.

Bots pay for membership too, if they stay active long enough to profit they will come back and pay again. If they are banned instantly they will stop trying. Its a balance between business and community

The other scary thing is, by looking at all these videos about botters, you can certainly know that alot of Max level players with Max combat gear are funded by their bots, maybe that bot with 50k Vorkath kc is transfering his botted gold to his main. Scary, scary thoughts!
Was hoping you’d touch on the massive corp bot farm armies, can catch them banking at ferox in most worlds. They kill corp in an instance tho. Thieving bots at vyres have been rampant, unfortunately seen multiple with 200m xp still thieving -_- same with those artio bots. Jagex turns a blind eye lol
if you go to the red spider egg spawn in kourend near the glade teleport near the one red spider boss theres bot farm just walking around picking up eggs

Bots keep the economy afloat, they are a necessity. They are 50% of playerbase at least. And half of high level mains RWT all their gold. $40 for like 300m, they can’t mass ban or nobody is left
if you check lunar bank, all the vork bots bank there, they all move the same when banking etc
Its a balance towards those who directly contribute to the game (and their voice online/PR) and the monetary benefits to keeping osrs gp viable.
What we as player need to focus on is fighting egregious violations, as you are doing.
So long as this game exists, bots are... but we should always fight as to how much they affect the game.

There's also bots that open all the doors during Pest Control. Close any door during the game and 4-5 accounts will stop what they're doing and open it

Check out the bots in the cooking guilds on most worlds, almost always lvl 3 with some having close to 200m cooking xp

Doing some slayer for Konar I found that every single world at ogre enclave blue dragons has a bot there camping them... really annoying since there aren't too many dragons there

Only time I ever remember playing RS and there being ALMOST no bots was around late 2011 when Jagex finally listened to the players crying about bots "ruining the economy/game" by doing the Bot Nuke. Some showed back up not long after it but vividly remember brews and restores going up to like 30-40k each from 10-15k each and caused a bunch of other everyday normal supplies people didn't like to get or wasn't worth the time for normal main accts to collect skyrocket and vicariously a ton of whining from the normal player base for having to steeply overpay for nearly everything.
I still think that happening was mostly a nice way of Jagex showing the player-base that we actually need bots for an enjoyable & affordable economy to support normal account gameplay.
A lot of people back then started to theorize (partly because of how everything happened) that it was actually Jagex themselves running the bots.
1). Who owns the account you play on? Jagex.
2). Who ultimately benefits the most from bots? Jagex (player count, game time played, etc)
3).Who could ("go unnoticed") get away with botting for so long? Jagex because there's nothing in the rules saying they can't have their own bot farms to help stimulate a failing player-based economy.
No bots = flax go up to 1k each -> players starts picking flax = WIN.
BOTS = LOSE
PEOPLE WOULD DO THE BORING GRINDS BECAUSE THE CRAZY MONEY. Instead all we do is bossing because nothing else pays

The flipping bots and the flipping market can be tricky when the bots are online. The bots sell to the other bots to price fix or something, they always profit. Still gp to be made tho.
I think some amount of bots for consumables such as sharks, ores, potions etc. is actually somewhat healthy for the economy and makes the experience better for a lot of regular accounts without them realising it. HOWEVER, bots doing pvm activities and tanking the price of high tier upgrades should definitely be the more important area to look into alongside the highscores being unreliable.

I've done two blue dragon tasks on Vorkath in a week now and the train of bots doing Vorkath is insane. I have seen a bot with 68k!! Vorkath kc. It's crazy.

9:59 i know some about artio table his. i spent 2-3 months of my life farming that bear trying to hit top 1, but bots win me the battle (got top40), When I checked the table again couple of months later, I had risen to the top20 without doing anything. (the only ign i checked in the caves and talk with their are: Sir hedar / yurturne / mocco / foonami / 0ne for all / puff of green all with a lots of kc 20k+) idk where the fuck appears that ''mrnosleepnoob'' thats maybe the only account hacked.
so i think bots gonna die in any moment and got removed from the table, just have to wait (maybe months) and do your kcs without thinking in that motherrockers.

I think it has gotten to the point where the bot makers are smarter than the 07 team or they have corrupt mods (like they have had previously) farming bots while they work. We know previous Mods ran zulrah and rev bots so what's stopping another Mod doing it?
Seems odd to me how most of the high scores are full of bots, the top 10 pages are bots for each skill yet the Mods dont take them out? Just look at black chins. Most of the 200 million xp players are bots and farm all day everyday without bans.

found a trio of matching name bots doing zolcano at 75cmb, all 3 had 120 mining and 40k+ zolcano kc with the absolute bare minimum Song of The Elves stats including 1 slayer and 1 fletching.

I've found the rev bots will run from me if I click on them, even when I'm outside their combat bracket, I'm no expert but doesn't that mean they have some sort of root access? Just to be clear they won't run away from me in pvm gear in till I've clicked to attack them, but not being able to due to combat bracket they still somehow know.
Bots run this game, and the players and mods don’t seem to care. Some are glad they exist to keep prices of in demand items low.

Because not only moneyfarm bots exist im 99% certain that alot of main account out there have botted certain skills aswell either for 99's or simply quest requirements. Just look at all the new players cb80 with obbycapes and full bandos , armadyl and an ava's attractor etc. These are the kind of players that are easy targets to start botting imo because you can already tell they don't want to grind they just want everything as soon as possible
