Muriatic acid will take that aluminum off the cylinder walls without damaging anything. It just makes the aluminum bubble and you can wipe it off. I do it all the time with 2 strokes. Wear gloves and safety glasses…
It’s a 1 3/4” 6 point roll bar, technically good to 9.99. But ya, they don’t seem to care at all at any of our local tracks. There is 7 second cars with no bars at all.
I saw one guy already comment about your comment “I’m almost out of gas”. I thought this is going to be bad! I’m sure your data logger shows if you went lean or not. I’m sure you will reflow your injectors. Looking at your pistons and rings I believe you had too small of ring gaps. I feel the pistons failed because the rings locked up in the bores. IDK what gap you had, but I would increase all of them a good amount. I’m an old school sbc nitrous guy but I run .024-.028 thousand on a 4” bore.
It didn’t go lean on the pass that it broke. You may be right, but fyi I had the top steel ring gapped to .019, and the second cast ring at .023. The piston is 86mm diameter. I got that spec by simply adding a few thousandths to the highest permisible ring gap for a factory turbo engine. Unopened turbo engines have been known to hold well over 800hp so I figured that’d be ok. Not certain though.
Guy says I'm ashamed to be next to these parachute GTRs and then goes and runs a 9.6 like it ain't shit 😂
Thanks for the video. Your pretty much doing in-frame.
You'll have her up and running in no time.
I drove it to work last Friday!
Thx for showing all of this very good info here
Thanks for the kind comment!

Damn, sorry about your luck bud, rebuild time!👌
Did you have logs from the run? Any info on what AFR’s were?
Ya I’ll go into the data log next vid. But the afr’s on the pass that went south were between 11.5 and 12
jeezus! i had no idea u were on stock GE pistons. How much power approx were u making on those?
I don’t know exactly, but I’m certain it was over 600 at the crank.
How much hp did you make with stock ge pistons?
Never dyno’d it. Probably 6-700 at the crank if I guessed.
How TF are you running into the 9's with jus that 4pt roll cage? My local track requires a min 6pt for anything in the 10's.

@@masterofmachines Damn thats wild!
how much timing where you running in boost ? and are you running gas or ethanol?
16° timing on e85
@@masterofmachines that's crazy that's about what i am running 14 to 16 on e85 but i am 2jzge non vvti running 21 psi
I have some stock GTE Pistons you might be able to use. Let me know if you want them.
😮 I might just need those.
I would Def also check your injectors to make sure you didn't go lean

You're worried you'll run out of gas for the last run. That was likely the issue. It was running lean, got hot and melted the pistons
I’m literally always thinking I’m about to run out of gas. 😂 I’m getting rid of the tiny fuel cell for something bigger as I type this.
muriatic acid in a tooth brush will get ride of the aluminum
Knock
Yikes
