Thank you. I'm not a mechanic, just a lawn guy and a guitar player. So I had no idea what I was doing and you really helped me out.
perfect video! no man in my life to help easy fix other than the bottom clip!
Thank you 🙏🏻 this video helps me a lot and how to do it my self and save me some money 💰.
Good video, but a word of warning. Not all of these vehicles will successfully re-learn the idle table without a programmer. I changed the TPS on my wife's 2012 Yukon and it has not idled correctly since. It either races to 2,500 to 3,000 rpms at startup, making dropping it into gear impossible, or when in gear, when you let off the brake, it accelerates itself to about 1500 RPM with no gas pedal input. I have tried the re-learn sequence about 4 times (idle 3 minutes, shut off for at least 60 seconds, idle 3 minutes again), including leaving the battery cables unhooked for various amounts of time. I have also driven the truck on the highway about 100 miles with no change in behavior. HAVE A BACKUP PLAN if you choose to DIY this. Be prepared to go have it reprogrammed if it needs it. Also you must consider that when the truck races to 3000 RPM like mine, you cannot put it into gear without possible damage, so you may be looking at a tow truck bill as well. I know many times the manual relearn sequence is all it needs, but be prepared for when/if it doesn't.
Awesome thank you for the video very simple but very helpful.
Best video yet
Good stuff and helpful 👏🏾
Bro. Thanks for taking the time to make this. Def knocking this out tomorrow.
Very helpful, thank you.
I will do my first attempt today following your video 😅
Good Luck!
Thank you.great video.
Super helpful!!!
Thanks just what i needed
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the info and not dragging it out now to getter done.
Big help! Thanks
Very helpful
Nice job
Was helpful
Thanks bro you saved my day.
Thanks very much.
Good video
Thank you
i replace sensor tps motor running hi rpm about 2500 rpm.any sugestion
Thankyou sir
Helpful but shouldn't you disconnect the negative cable from your battery before removing tps sensor??
What was the reason for changing it in the first place? How do you reset the computer? These simple answers would make the video more engaging.
Thanks
Thank you for the vid but I have a question to I have to follow up with a computer to program it ?
Yes with a scan tool. However there is a manual process which can work as well. You can look up a video on that. Idle relearn procedure
@@mechdjango3490 I went with the manual way and worked perfectly
Awesome! It’s nice to have that option
Should you first disconnect the negative battery terminal but use an OBDII memory savor while doing the swap?
You can if you’d like. But it still needs a proper reset afterwards regardless if you have one or not.
@@mechdjango3490 how do you reset ?
@@mechdjango3490 how’s the reset process
I’m struggling with the relearning I bought the whole throttle body but rpm’s are too high
Brother.. may I know what the symptoms are when the sensor goes bad.?
Thanks
Some of the symptoms are low idle , high idle poor throttle response and a surging idle that goes up and down as well as bucking after you let off the throttle when driving coming to a stop . My idle is starting to roam a little especially when the engines cold and not warmed up and I get the occasional bucking when letting off the throttle to come to a stop so it's time for a new TPS sensor install . I have a scan tool but not sure if it has the capability to do the TPS relearn but my neighbor just 2 houses up from me has a repair shop and he has a snap on scanner that can do the relearn if I have to go that route.
I changed it but now the idle is roaring high. Did you have to do that or how do I readjust it?
Lookup manual TPS reset procedure
@@mechdjango3490 Why dont you just explain it? Why did you change it in the first place? What code were you getting? Some basic information that might make the video more engaging! I
What was the code that lead you to change it?
Mine was P2135
on 2009 silverado 4.8 had code po121 clean trottle body so i replace it now rpm is at 2500rpm
Search for Manual idle reset procedure
Did you replace this because your truck had a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear ??
There’s a video on that. My Avalanche is doing it. You need a new servo in the tranny. Not a hard fix just messy fluid. Good luck. 👍🏽
Darn I’m trying to find the name of the hose you couldn’t describe at the beginning lol.
The PCV HOSE
MechDjango thank you! I thought the PCV hose was only on the driver side! Didn’t realize there was more than one! Thank you.
Thanks for the vid, I'm doing it today, I found that the Stabil trak sensor and reduce engine power override is associated with a dirty intake snorkel, and throttle body trips those sensors. Hopefully cleaning the two and replacing the throttle body sensor will fix it
I am experiencing the same StabiliTrak issues on my avalanche, did you have to take off the throttle body and clean it before it worked properly, or did you just change the sensor? Can you clean the throttle body without taking it off?

Well I found out that it was the gas pedal sensor and not the throttle body sensor. After hearing so much about changing out the Throttle Body Sensor and having idling problems and that its supposed to be calibrated. I decided to take it to a mechanic. I told him I was sure that it was the throttle body sensor. He said let me diagnose it it first. Well he did and it was not the Throttle Body Sensor. It was that gas pedal position sensor. I had already bout the throttle sensor so I had him remove the throttle body and thoroughly clean it, place the new TBPS in and replace the Gas pedal position assembly w/sensor. That fixed it and it runs great! I think I paid like $320 for it all and it was worth it. He is a good reasonable mechanic.
Y do I need a scan tool
Derek too mutch man
The manual relearn is fairly simply.
How do you do the manual relearn?
I love when people make comments and then do not give the answer. If it’s so simple why didn’t you explain it? That would be helpful as many have commented on having issues resetting it? I do not understand why people do that? Just to have something to say? I dont get it.
start and let idle in park for 3 mins, turn off for 1 min, start and let idle for 3 more mins, turn off for 1 min. After restart it should relearn. @@DavidMartinez-rl7bi
NICE VIDEO BUT POOR LIGHTING INDOOR WOULD BE BETTER WITH LED LIGHTS AND CAMERA ANGLE COULD BE BETTER AND DROP THE MUSIC, YOUR NOT A RADIO STATION.
Mine is riveted on...
Terrible camera angle.
I don't see anything because the letters don't show anything
Go back and watch and edit you presentation more closely, to need Enough lighting and close enough to see what your doing
Perhaps, go back and work on your grammar and make your own video since you're unhappy with this one.🫢🫨
Maybe a dumb question.....how do you clear the code,I’m about to change mine out as we speak and don’t wanna change it and have no idea on how to clear the code at the end 😂
It’d be best to at least use and obd2 code reader since disconnecting the battery won’t necessarily clear the code
G Smithy it’s very simple to do a relearn. Just disconnect the negative terminal for at least 5 minites
