You crack me up😭 thank you for the tips and your snarky personality. I'm getting ready for my Psyd interview next week and have enjoyed your video series.
Thanks, Kristin! Come for the knowledge, stay for the snark! ;) In seriousness, thrilled you’re enjoying the series. If you need any one on one help, please don’t hesitate to reach out via www.gradschoolapplicationcoach.com
It’s neither a good sign nor a bad sign, mate. At this point all you can do is follow the guidance in the video i posted this week on what to do when waiting to hear back
Thanks, Manuel! I actually have a 5 paragraph strategy which has been very successful when it comes to crafting Statements of Purpose. I’m happy to share via booked sessions - info at www.jayphoenixsingh.com
What should students do if they get waitlisted in a small graduate program? (10-14 people) Are there ways to position a conversation or another interview with someone like the Director?
Be sure to scour the internet and call their department's general line beforehand to make sure that info is available nowhere else before you ask. The danger would be that if the info is available online or easily accessible by contacting the department, it makes it seem like you didn't care enough to research the program.
Dr. Singh I have a group interview following by and individual conversation with the director of graduate admissions. What should I expect? FYI. Your videos have helped me so much.
Hi Laurel! So glad they've helped! These are terrific questions and there is much more than I could possibly say in a reply. There are some videos on the channel generally talking about grad school interviews which I would encourage you to watch. We can also do a comprehensive breakdown of exactly what you should expect, how to answer any question they throw at you successfully, and some secret tips and tricks in a session. My booking calendar is at www.gradschoolapplicationcoach.com
Is using lack of research experience as a weakness in an interview frowned upon? I am new to the Art Therapy field coming from a marketing career and am applying to grad programs. It is a big weakness but it's honest. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much Dr. Singh for helping me navigate through this challenging opportunity to become a graduate student Your content literally saved me!
Awesome news, R H! Very proud of you - this is a huge accomplishment!
loving the tough love, straight talkin' style, Dr!
Thanks, Doc!

I was waitlisted to both my top programs for a PhD. Is this a good sign? What should I do/what should I prepare to do?

This is great! It would be awesome if we could make a video about how to write a powerful statement of purpose.

Good question, Zander - I’ll make a video on this for you
@@NavigatingAcademia You're awesome! Thank you!
Would asking about fellowships available for grad students be a good question?

@@NavigatingAcademia Thank you
would it be appropriate to ask who the panel would consist of in advance of the interview, having received an invite for the same?
I would avoid it - no one else knows, so no one has an advantage
@@NavigatingAcademia thanks
